The version Toutatis had had more plugins, though, and one of them (blur) persuaded me to stay with Compiz 0.9.5.

Good to know that it has been added, I've checked it; it's not on the package list though. And yes, I understand your feelings davidnotcoulthard. Thank you everyone
Re: [Trisquel-users] trisquel-mini performances
After logging in, enter top in a console window. If it shows lxdm using most of the CPU time, the problem is in crypto of home directory. Workaround is to first login to a console session, than login to X session: i.e., from initial screen enter ctrl-alt-f1; enter username; enter password; enter alt-f7; enter username; enter password; then try top again, it should show negligible CPU usage. Hope Trisquel 7 has this fixed.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 7 and new homepage - gratz!!
I think the front page of the new website is excellent! However, I encounter problems when I got to any other page, like the forums, downloads, or documentation. My Trisquel-mini computer is an old one that runs at a 1024x768 screen resolution, and at that size, that website pages have an enormous amount of empty space between content columns, which are so thin that some things become unreadable. I've attached two files to this post. The first is the top of this thread, showing what the columns usually look like on my desktop. The second is a nested comment on another thread, showing what some nested comments look like. There is so, so much blank space, and the comment has a wrap width of only 13 characters. I like the new design, but remember, some of us still have to use older machines with older monitors, and we like to be able to read things, too.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel v7 - where is my unity?
Since compiz was added to the repos I was able to install unity but it is not possible to choose it in lightdm.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel v7 - where is my unity?
I've cheked it on a virtual machine; quidam have repaired it.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 7 and new homepage - gratz!!

Sorry, let me explain myself better: It is on the repository but not in beleno's list on this website (packages) when I looked for it one hour ago.

It seems to be that, i will try tonight ! Thank you very much.
[Trisquel-users] Re : trisquel-mini performances
Thank you for the tip of restarting lxdm. I'll check this the next time I use this computer to see if the problem came from here, then buy some more ram and install trisquel mini 7. @lembas : I'm not able to package any program. I have to practice a lot before.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tp link librecmc wifi router on an isp modem with public address?
I have installed librecmc on the tp link router. Maybe you can tell if it bricked. First I tested the tp link router with firmware by lan cabel connecting it to the isp router. Tp link ethernet and wifi connection worked. Then I logged into the tp link's web interface and installed librecmc. No errors during installation. After installing librecmc I turned the tp link router off and on. My computer can ethernet and wifi connect to the tp link router, icon on computer display shows. But I cannot access internet. If I want to access a website it says 'no server'. If the tp link router is not bricked, can you tell how to log into the tp link router and what settings to make?
[Trisquel-users] Test trisquel 7 64bit on 8gb usb memory stick?
Can I test trisquel 7 64bit on my computer on an usb stick? How do I test if my graphic card works like it is supposed to do? If trisquel does not contain non free software and no mainboard works without non free software, then how can it work?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Test trisquel 7 64bit on 8gb usb memory stick?
Can I test trisquel 7 64bit on my computer on an usb stick? Sure. If trisquel does not contain non free software and no mainboard works without non free software, then how can it work? The mainboard will contain proprietary software in the form of the BIOS or UEFI (depending on what kind of board you have) but that doesn't mean Trisquel itself needs to contain non-free software in order to be bootable on those boards. :) They're still capable of booting 100% free GNU/Linux systems. It's just that, since the software is proprietary, it's not doing you have favors because it denies you -- the supposed board owner -- of the needed freedoms.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tp link librecmc wifi router on an isp modem with public address?
If the tp link router is not bricked, can you tell how to log into the tp link router and what settings to make? If you use the Network Manager System Tray icon and display Connection Information you should be able to get the routers address. Then putting something like : http://192.168.1.1/ in your web browser address bar should get you the admin pages for the router. If you can't find the address try that value anyway because it's the default with LibreCMC's upstream. Then you'll know if you've been successful. As to what settings, I suggest you try the LibreCMC or OpenWRT websites.

[Trisquel-users] Persistence file not working
I downloaded the lastest version of the Trisquel image (trisquel_7.0_amd64.iso) and used the startup disk creator to create a USB stick so I can test Trisquel 7 without risk. The startup-disk has a 4 GB caspar-rw file which is a valid ext3 file system, but when I make changes in the live system and then reboot, than all changes are lost.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 7 and new homepage - gratz!!
Yea- it's pretty bad. The problem is even worse at 640x480.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 7 and new homepage - gratz!!
For some reason, on Midori in Trisquel 7, it's not as bad (I had written the comment while downloading that ISO and using Trisquel 6). No idea that that is. I also question the pink bar at the top of the page. I understand that it's the very top of the background used on the pages, but as the rest of the website is based in blue, and as you scroll down, the background changes to blue anyway. The pink bar looks really out of place unless you're looking at the very top of the page, too. Just some thoughts.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Default Privacy Settings in Abrowser
Consider that the person who said it isn't necessarily withholding information. jxself simply doesn't know if it would be alright to release that info. Communications hasn't been the strong point here, but there are some improvements in the new system that should enable people to contribute more easily.
[Trisquel-users] Slow DNS resolution
I will post this here because I like trisquel and its users. It might help someone if they run in a similar situation.. A few days ago I bought a new router for my wireless comodity for the old one got bricked after I fiddled with various versions of ddwrt :-) Now, immediately after setting up the router I noticed it was terribly slow. It downloaded files at the max speed allowed by my isp. Torrent and video streaming did great; but it would take some sites like 20-30 seconds to load completely (DOH!!) I tried A LOT of things to improve it. I was going to return the thingie to the shop i bought it from.. But I finally found the solution. Apparently the router has some issues with linux (at least with trisquel and xubuntu) and the only workaround is disabling IPv6 firefox or any of its variations--- about:config network.dns.disableIPv6 -- toggle this to true hope this'll help someone ciaouuzzz
Re: [Trisquel-users] Tp link librecmc wifi router on an isp modem with public address?
It doesn't sound like it is bricked. Your ISP is probably refusing to issue a 2nd IP address. Since you didn't release the IP address before flashing it the ISP doesn't know you've changed devices. While you technically have changed devices the MAC address has changed, so from the ISP's perspective, you have changed devices, or added another device (and thus won't issue you another IP). To solvet his problem turn off the modem and router. Wait 20-30 minutes and turn the modem on. Wait 60 seconds and then turn the router on. You'll probably be able to connect to the internet now. If it still doesn't work repeat the steps, but instead of waiting 20-30 minutes wait a few hours and try again. Basically what is happening is your ISP will realize your modem/router are disconnected and release the IP address and at that point should be willing to give you a new IP address. Here is our end-user documentation (should be applicable if you have the same underlying router, including revision #): https://www.thinkpenguin.com/gnu-linux/librecmc-free-software-wireless-n-broadband-router-gnu-linux You can also check out http://www.librecmc.org/ for more technical documentation, source code, etc.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Free software ideology compatible VPS provider
Thanks all of you very much. GNUtransfer don't offer small packages like the one I need, but they replied that they only use free software and own private software so I recommend checking with them for somebody also looking for a VPS provider. Byte mark is prohibitively expensive for me and even though they seem aware and concerned about the problem of proprietary software, they don't take it very seriously. Linode replied that they financially support the software freedom day, but they don't have a policy on using only free software. I'm still trying to reach an agreement with Corehost through negotiation. I'm still looking for more VPS providers that abide by the free software philosophy and therefore suggestions will be very much appreciated.
[Trisquel-users] Issue: GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M on Acer Aspire 4520
Well, I have a old notebook Acer Aspire 4520 with a GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M graphic card. I've always had the same problem with various distributions since buy it: The graphical environment and ttys are displayed in an incorrect resolution (the screen is divided in 3, everything looks blurry and spliced) being virtually impossible to work with it. This behavior persists until I install the proprietary nvidia drivers so I've always blamed the nouveau drivers. Currently it has installed a version of ubuntu so I would like to replace it with Trisquel 7, unfortunately the problem described above has reappeared. Do any of you have had a similar problem?
