Re: [Trisquel-users] Web app (for work, so non free) not accessible through Abrowser
That might be worthwhile. If that doesn't work, you might be out of luck. Perhaps you should ask your employer to supply a computer that will work with these programs. What's it for, anyway?

This one arrived OK... until this line: agu...@ati.es, Mar 23 Ago 2016 02:47:01 CEST: Here go the problematic symbols toghether: Nothing afterwards. Yes, if you read it at the website it is complete... but if you get the message through e-mail it is not. So here it is the problem, and now that I managed to reproduce it, I posted a bug report. I was making a reply to an empty message. But it wasn't empty, or was it? Why would a message be empty of content, or why would I reply to it as if it was empty of content if it wasn't? Answer is, it arrived empty to me. Empty as in, the message source was empty of content, as in it had nothing more than the headers. But when reading the forum at the website, it isn't empty at all. What happened? Seems that root_vegetable broke the message processing. Probably through using the "less than" sign together with the 3 number to make a sideways heart. Re: [Trisquel-users] The future of Libre Computing: Crowd Funding Campaign Starts Now
you can download the CAD source *right now* - i will have to make some modifications but it's all there. https://www.youmagine.com/designs/libre-hardware-licensed-parametric-laptop-design crowdsupply is slightly different, you'll be able to put in pledges after the campaign ends, and it will run indefinitely as a "shop"... *after* the campaign's run - that's all handled by crowdsupply *not* by me. now, when i get to Taiwan, *as long as* there is spare cash i will be over-ordering on some of the components. so yes you'll be able to "buy"... but not whilst i am in the legal jurisdiction of the United States. it's a crowd-funding campaign, it's a gift economy (not "orders"), i did *NOT* bring in "products for the solicitation of orders", i did NOT bring in "samples" into the United States, it's right there on the Customs form that i declared on entering the United States on a 90 day visa waiver, so please don't ask me to "sell" you anything, okay? :)
Re: [Trisquel-users] The future of Libre Computing: Crowd Funding Campaign Starts Now
if you set up a beowulf cluster for example you'd do fine. or you set up a data centre where each computer card was totally independent. or if you used them as front-ends with DNS round-robin and set up an alternative NAS / SQL distributed cluster... basically it's about software (and setting it up). all the software already exists... it's all related to server / clustering. if you're expecting to have multiple computer cards and speed up *desktop* applications, forget it.
Re: [Trisquel-users] The future of Libre Computing: Crowd Funding Campaign Starts Now
Would it be possible to buy the pfy laptop housing kit a couple of weeks after the campaign ends? If so, from where?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Getting debian fsf approved
Some packages in Debian link to specific parts of the documentation that recommended nonfree software. FSF does not like this one bit. It is not the problem with the ISO. The ISO is just a means of distributing an operating system for testing and installing. And then you install Debian 8, which the FSF cannot endorse. Basically, your "libre ISO" promotes a non-free distribution in the eyes of the FSF. It is as simple as that. Point is, anything that is Debian gets rejected. Only something like gNewSense which is a significant amount of work purging offending packages and anything they depend on, while being independent from Debian project is going to get approval. And if that is what you want, go and help gNewSense for crying out loud!

What about LXQT ? http://lxqt.org/images/screenshots/ambiance.png
Re: [Trisquel-users] Web app (for work, so non free) not accessible through Abrowser
Sorry, I meant that since the 7 didn't work as I thought, I tried the 6 as well. So I guess I should try the 8 from a ppa?
Re: [Trisquel-users] The future of Libre Computing: Crowd Funding Campaign Starts Now
In a video lkcl says connecting several pc cards to achive a faster computer is not an option. https://youtu.be/GspUDdNlsng?t=1316 Because of the hardware or because software is not available?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Getting debian fsf approved
>you miss the point entirely Then explain it in more detail. How does debian go wrong when you have installed debian 8 main? If 'synaptic package manager' provides an unacceptable gui to instal non free repositories then leave it out of the iso and let an update application only update main. I still do not understand why an iso like I described cannot get fsf approval? I do not see distributions like gnew and trisquel as viable options for the reasons I already mentioned. I do think it is important that fsf can show a maintained and not difficult to install free software system.

What happened to devel.trisquel.info?
Re: [Trisquel-users] suggestions to uruk gnu/linux 2.0
Gtk2 is outdated. Gtk3 is the feature and it is great they support it soon. Xfce always did drain power more than Lxde and various window managers. To be honest Gtk is not going to make much difference compared to screen brightness, WiFi etc.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Full screen at full resolution slow for some games
STK runs reasonably well on 8G desktop with cheap OEM Nvidia card. But only at settings level 3. So I think the problem is these games are just too hard for x200 to handle.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Full screen at full resolution slow for some games
I would bet money on STK not running well at all.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Freedom Fridays (development updates) 4
Thanks quidam ;) great work
Re: [Trisquel-users] Web app (for work, so non free) not accessible through Abrowser
Why would you use version 6? That's the ancient version of Java. Use version 7 or even version 8.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Web app (for work, so non free) not accessible through Abrowser
I also tried the version 6 but there's still some loading error (not much to work on) that doesn't exist on Windows. It's nearly working, but not yet. I tried updating everything and restarting the PC. Don't mind the outdated OS warning though, it happens on Windows as well. Is there some parameter to teawk regarding icedtea?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Libreboot bug,
My Libreboot X200 doesn't have this bug (20160818 released)
Re: [Trisquel-users] Libreboot bug,
Don't ask here, ask on Libreboot mailing list/IRC.
[Trisquel-users] Re : Web app (for work, so non free) not accessible through Abrowser
IcedTea, which is in Trisquel's repository, allows your browser to execute Java applets. Install "icedtea-7-plugin".
Re: [Trisquel-users] suggestions to uruk gnu/linux 2.0
I really hope they don't go to GTK3 though, as it drains battery power more than GTK2 according to what I have heard about it.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Live USB or install to USB?
You are right freedom is restricted by windows, but there is an even bigger issue, THIS: It is even worse for your privacy and security.
[Trisquel-users] Libreboot bug,
It would seem that my x200 libreboot laptop when not plugged in beeps even though it is at 80% battery life. I know now it this bug has to do with low battery life, but this clearly isn't the case. Although oddly enough it has stopped but I don't know why... Could be that anything under 80% causes problems... Can anyone confirm this bug as having happened? If so let me know, this is just plain weird... Not trying to be ungrateful, libreboot is a good project, but this bug has me kind of baffled.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Web app (for work, so non free) not accessible through Abrowser
Looks like too much trouble. After restartiing Abrowser, I have no java warning, but I fail to completely download or make the .exe work (error, and no way to run it in sandbox mode). I'll try to run Windows on a virtual machine.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Light alternative to LibreOffice to work with libre formats and Microsoft Office proprietary formats?
Thank you all for suggestions :)
[Trisquel-users] Web app (for work, so non free) not accessible through Abrowser
It roughly says: "Microsoft doesn't support XP anymore, it's highly recommended that you use an up-to-date OS (and not "browser"). I partially solved it by using Random Agent Spoofer set on MSIE 10. Now I only have a partial warning. But it says I need Java installed. Is it not installed by default? is it non-free? Looks like I have my answer here: https://trisquel.info/en/forum/any-way-replace-java After installing a bunch of java stuff from the repo, it still gives me the warning and prompts me for an .exe download which I can't execute. And the app still thinks the OS is outdated, as it should since I did nothing to solve that point. But it seems it's only a warning. Worst case, I'll go with a Windows virtual machine. But I'm confident there's another way.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Full screen at full resolution slow for some games
Yes, it's a librebooted X200. In a way, it is reassuring : the machine might have what it takes then.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Full screen at full resolution slow for some games
Thanks for the explanation. I just tried the --renderer sdl command, but the unexpected result was this: it started on the laptop screen only. At the second attempt, both screen were on (mirrored). After closing SuperTux, I had to use the xrandr specific command to get my external screen back. The good news is that even at the biggest available resolution (3200 something, way bigger than my external screen resolution), it's super fluid. The result on screen is exactly the same as the smallest resolution (640 something).
Re: [Trisquel-users] Full screen at full resolution slow for some games
I can confirm that there's no private convo going on with me involved. I should definitely try SuperTuxKart and see how it runs though.
[Trisquel-users] Re : suggestions to uruk gnu/linux 2.0
Here is a distribution that has an "easy access"xfce desktop with a Main menu. https://handylinux.org/index-en.html I do agree Mate is lightweight and maybe more accessible than XFCE
