Re: [Trisquel-users] Kate has an intolerable flaw; read on, please.
I don't use Kate, but decided to check it out. I didn't find any key that does what you describe. I assume, if you are correct in your interpretation, that this is some sort of bug in... I don't know, some function that has something to do with line endings, maybe. But I use gedit, so it doesn't matter to me. In any case, I don't understand why you posted this topic. You didn't ask any questions, and Kate's developers aren't here to my knowledge, so complaining here about it is useless.

thanks :)
Re: [Trisquel-users] Libreboot website is now wiki-like and we are looking for documentation contributors
Lack of translations is a long-standing issue. It should probably use GNU Gettext or similar, so that translated texts (compared to english) are reverted back to english automatically, if translations of certain texts are unavailable. I'm not sure how that would be implemented in the current infrastructure, but feel free to poke around. https://libreboot.org/git.html Patches welcome! :)
Re: [Trisquel-users] librebootable.info
Hi GNUbahn, Yes, non-techies are Libreboot's major target in the documentation. We also want to have complete documentation, though. Streamlining everything and simplifying is a current goal. I ask that you contribute directly to the official Libreboot documentation to make these improvements, instead of forking off into librebootable.info, as I feel that Libreboot would be better served with its own documentation improved. Indeed, I welcome such discussions. You can start it on the bug tracker linked on the homepage, and we can go from there with a few examples in the form of pull requests. libreboot.org is where most people look so it's better to improve that. The current infrastructure has improved considerably and should be easy enough to contribute to nowadays, compared to what it was like before. ~Leah

I have never had this issue.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Libreboot T400 returns on Minifree, with Trisquel preinstalled at permanently reduced price
yes, those exact instructions will also work on trisquel
Re: [Trisquel-users] purism reverse engineering
In terms of the features themselves, *some* are necessary for the functioning of the computer- they MUST be present, in some form or another, for it to be more than a very expensive doorstop. Of these, at least some have to go onto ROM so that they can be loaded at boot. The signature verification is stop nefarious forces from using the nearly omnipotent ME to gain unlimited access to the device. It does solve that problem, presuming Intel isn't one of those forces (they may or may not be), but at the obvious expense of locking the owner of the system out. As for the rest of the features and the particular choice of 'protection' against crackers (and hackers...), that's pure speculation. Perhaps they just thought the effort to make it possible for the user to crack it wasn't worth the niche market who would use it. Maybe three-letter agencies are involved. Intel themselves may even have a secret entrance. The only thing we do know is that it's unacceptable.
Re: [Trisquel-users] purism reverse engineering
It is unacceptable. I can understand intel wants their computers to have these features. I do not follow why it is important for intel that we cannot remove them?

Post script: I switched to LeafPad; when my errant pinkie touches that mystery key, a _new page_ pops up alongside the original, making the misteak easily corrected; disaster averted. Hello LeafPad, good-bye Kate.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Libreboot T400 returns on Minifree, with Trisquel preinstalled at permanently reduced price
Thanks. I was unware of that. Curious as if the process is exactly the same with Trisquel as it is with Debian. Probably yes. I was also unware of the fact that changing the OS installation in a Librebooted device was harder/different than it is in a "regular" pc. Thanks Heather for the info.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Understanding and managing downloads in firefox based browsers
Yes exactly. In regular Firefox/Abrowser it's ok to use DTA! or some other download manager. BUT in Tor Browser it's better not to risk it (a bug in DTA, present or future, could deanonymize the user). So I am trying to use this trick to manage broken downloads. I am curious as if there is any option in the about:config of firefox that allows me to have better control over this. A web search wasn't very fruitful so I am hoping someone with more knowledge will be able to help. THANKS

For sure. Shared the link with colleagues.
