Some, like pizzaiolo, have moved away from Parabola because a few Parabola devs left Parabola to start Hyperbola. Yet more fragmentation and resource-straining!

You can't go back and encrypt it. Encryption requires reformatting the drive. This is why I can't switch to Guix by starting with a simple config and building up. I must get disk encryption right in the first system config before I install.

Hi, I installed Trisquel on a Libreboot T400. When I was installing, I chose other options so I can partition the volumes. Now, how do I go back and encrypt everything? I did choose to encrypt home, but that's all.

I agree with your overall point, but Parabola isn't outdated. The only problem I see with Parabola is that it is unsuitable for beginners, which why for them I recommend Trisquel. What I would love to see is a Parabola derivative/parallel that - has a visual installer - has a default DE that is fully usable without a terminal - stays a month behind Parabola so that any bugs caused by updates can be fixed before adopting the update

Concordo inteiramente, obrigado por trazer este assunto. Realmente isto é uma lástima. Quando mora nos EUA, tinha contas no Bank of America e Huntington e sempre consegui ter acesso ao internet banking usando Trisquel/abrowser sem problemas. Aqui no Brasil? Não consigo acessar nenhuma das minhas contas seja do Itaú ou BB... todos requerem instalação de software proprietário; é uma frustração constante... Estamos juntos :-) [apologizing in advance for this Brazilian corner; we are very frustrated for not being able to use any Brazilian internet banking service without using proprietary software, and we want to change that]

Update: I did downloaded the ISO FOR trisquel 8 , I will be installing into a new desktop, in the next 2 days . I will keep you informed of my results.

Hoje de manhã, recebi um convite para participar de uma pesquisa de opinião sobre o atendimento do Banco do Brasil. Quem esteja também cliente do BB: participe! É rápido e pode escrever que o site e o aplicativo para celular são horríveis. É todo avaliação em 5 exceto no final: tem um caixa de texto na qual se pode explicar a sua opinião geral. La, pode escrever que mais de 20 MB de software proprietário (ou seja, que não controlamos) para um "acesso seguro" a bb.com.br é tudo menos "seguro" ( ver https://trisquel.info/forum/i-cant-access-my-bank-account ), que o JavaScript do site deve também ser livre ( pode dar o link https://libreplanet.org/wiki/Action_items/Para_BB.com.br:_Liberte_seu_JavaScript ) e que somente permanecemos cliente do banco porque ainda não achamos um outro banco brasileiro que permite um acesso remoto às contas sem executar software proprietário.

It's a shame that so much work power is distributed over many similar projects with slightly different goals. What I mean is: Imagine the creators of trisquel, parabola, gnewsense and uruk would join forces and produce one well maintained OS instead of many more or less outdated ones. Debian as a base OS would make the process of eliminating the non-free pitfalls way easier, and it would provide the option of having stable and reliable software for the normal user as well as enabling the rolling-release feature of debian testing for the more advanced users (the target audience of parabola). Outdated software is unattractive. Users who care about software freedom most likely also care about security and reliability. Why not join forces, everybody? The result could be a powerful, fully free operating system for everybody.

maybe you are very young :) but for experience companies allow employees to contribute to open source oe free projects. So it is normal to see some people working on coreboot in their free time and for other company in working time.
