Re: [Trisquel-users] Realtek RTL8188EE
Once I heard that certain Realtek WLAN adapters do work on free/libre distributions like Trisquel. Does this mean that such models have been "reverse engineered" (i.e. free firmware available)?
[Trisquel-users] Trisquel 8 makinc connections to RIPE ??
Hey, Using netstat -t -u I noticed a connection being made to an IP which, after doing an online whois search, discovered as belonging to "RIPE Network Coordination Centre". Is this normal or should I be worried? I was running Tor Browser, but not any other browser. Thanks in advance for an explanation on this.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Cannot install GNOME Software
I use KDE on a free/libre Debian system (without any non-free firmware). It never recommends non-free software. What is your distribution? Maybe you can manually check the repository setting file(s).
Re: [Trisquel-users] Installing Trisquel on EFI
Once I had one Acer ultrabook with mSATA and SATA drives. The "legacy" mode boot list didn't contain the mSATA option, so if I wished to boot from the mSATA SSD, I had to use UEFI mode (the ESP can be on either SSD or HDD). I believe what you described was something similar: restrictions by the firmware. (Maybe the manufacturer didn't want users to install operating systems using legacy mode.) Unfortunately, starting Haswell, Intel implemented one treacherous "feature": Boot Guard. It is impossible to fix the broken-beyond-repair non-free firmware with this anti-feature present. What I can suggest is to try the latest Debian (testing) Installer and perform a minimalist installation. See whether you can boot it from UEFI mode. Use the "Alpha 3" release of Debian Installer. I tested it on many UEFI systems. (Note: Debian does have certain non-free firmware on its mirror servers. Avoid adding the "contrib" or "non-free" repositories and you can have a free/libre system.)
[Trisquel-users] I've got my Libreboot X200 Thinkpad running Trisquel 8... So now what?
What are some cool things I can do with this beautiful combination of software and hardware? Setup some complex software stacks? Libre gaming? Throw me some suggestions, I'm in love with what I have but I need a creative push in the right direction :)
Re: [Trisquel-users] Why Trisquel website isn't translated into Russian?
persist, my friend, persist o/
[Trisquel-users] Re : GNOME Shell on Trisquel 8
I have never had any issue with accessing the text sessions and I doubt the issue relates to GNOME Shell.
[Trisquel-users] Re : Trisquel 8 .iso signed by a different key?
The Trisquel project uses several keys. Attached, a screenshot of my 'software-properties-gtk'.
[Trisquel-users] Re : Freedom Decrypted Show Zero: Plus interview with Ruben on Trisquel 8
My Ogg Vorbis encoding of the audio track is still there: http://dcc.ufmg.br/~lcerf/2018-06-12_21-30-06.ogg (95 MB). I doubt there is much to see. But maybe I am wrong.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Cannot install GNOME Software
The package name in Trisquel is plasma-discover. I just installed and tried running it and got an error: "Error: Invalid item (item was 'null'). This might indicate that the item was deleted outside StackView!" but that might be because I was running it from MATE and don't have the full Plasma desktop installed. signature.asc Description: PGP signature
Re: [Trisquel-users] Cannot install GNOME Software
No, it was on a different system. I can't find it if I search for "discover" with apt on my Trisquel system. The "discover" package available on my Trisquel laptop is a CLI app that shows you what all your hardware is. Pretty nifty little thing.

I am on the mailing list and cannot see the screenshot.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Cannot install GNOME Software
Discover seemed very nice and stable and responsive. Have you found a way to disable the Flathub repository? It kept recommending Spotify and Skype and so forth, no matter what settings I tried.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Cannot install GNOME Software
Well, I'm tired of sluggish of GNOME, MATE, XFCE. Now I'm KDE user. Discover works very well (not like the bugged GNOME Software). And KDE runs fast and smooth with all effects enabled on 11 years old laptop with Core 2 Duo and 4GB of RAM.
