How do I short the hw switch? Also sorry, i’m not sure which guide you’re referring to
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 9 Graphical ISO available for testing
I'm using a LibreBooted T400, and have just done a full system upgrade to 9.0... ...seems to boot slower - not a complaint, really, just an observation. No other issues discovered. I'm happy to report that everything else works right out of the box. Cheers.
[Trisquel-users] Re : How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?
I believe it will, unless you execute 'sudo apt install icedove=' to install it, as chaosmonk told you.
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?
Thank you! I will, for now, stick with it. At some point will have to think about finding another RSS solution (one that works well with Onion Services, and has good privacy settings).
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?
One question, if I install Icedove from that deb, Trisquel updater will not try to force 68.x version right?
[Trisquel-users] Re : How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?
Debian no longer has 68.x binaries for x86 architectures. http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/t/thunderbird/ I guess you meant 60.x. Anyhow, it looks like packages for both versions are available behind your link. http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/t/thunderbird/icedove_60.9.0-1~deb9u1_all.deb for version 60.x.
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?
To be honest I was using it mainly for RSS... I had an email account there but it was already available as a JS-free webmail (danwin1210.me, great webmail service, available as Onion too). As for RSS reader, I thought the Torbirdy addon was the safest way to use RSS. Guess I will be back at square zero :(
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?
Debian no longer has 68.x binaries for x86 architectures. http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/t/thunderbird/ Maybe Mozilla has old releases of Thunderbird available for download, but after reading the issue you linked to, it sounds like your best options are to use Tails when you need to send an anonymous email, or to use JS-free webmail via Tor Browser.
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?
It's no use, the same versions appear as they do in Synaptic. Guess I could try downloading the deb file from Debian website, remove Icedove from my system and install it from the deb file... Dependencies are met already, so... Could work maybe...?
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?
https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/31341 Thanks I will try that. The link above explains the current situation for Torbirdy and 68.x It might work in the future, but not anyone is able to solve it now. Lucky for me, I always play things safe... The emails and RSS feeds I had, were all pointing to Onion services. At worst, my ISP DNS knows that I wanted to reach certain onion sites but not the specific pages I wanted to access (at least I hope so). AND the onion sites themselves didn't get my IP making a connection with user/password, so cannot disclose my identity.
[Trisquel-users] Re : Import public key
I faced the same issue but found an imperfect workaround. I downloaded https://addons.thunderbird.net/thunderbird/downloads/latest/enigmail/addon-71-latest.xpi and, in the gear menu of the "Add-ons Manager" (that you can display from the main menu, with the three stacked segments), I chose "Install Add-on From File...". Although Enigmail appeared enabled in the add-ons manager, it was not. The weird thing is: clicking the "Disable" button and then the "Enable" button that replaces it does enable Enigmail, which appears to be properly working. Unfortunately, Enigmail has to be disabled and then enabled whenever Icedove starts. I have not checked whether the same problem occurs for other (any?) add-on: I only use Enigmail. At least on my system, the newer version of Icedove (which comes from flidas-updates, not flidas-backports: we have here, after Abrowser, a second exception to the stability rule) suffers from other issues. There are display glitches in the list of emails. Probably not Trisquel's fault. On the contrary, the Trisquel project is responsible for substituting in inappropriate places several "Thunderbird" with either "Icedove" or "Trisquel". Only in the "Add-ons Manager" tab: The preference button is named "Trisquel Preferences"; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/unable-install-add-on-extension-theme-icedove leads to "Page Not Found" because it should remain https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/unable-install-add-on-extension-theme-thunderbird The text box to "Find more extensions" sends the search to addons.icedove.net which does not exist. Nothing deal breaking but, well, it would be nice to fix those issues for Trisquel 9.
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?
> But I still need to get to 60.x since I need Torbirdy to work and there is no chance to use it in 68.x If you have not run "apt clean" you may still have the old version cached. Run $ apt policy icedove and see what versions are listed under "Version table:". If you see a 60.x version, you can install it with $ sudo apt install icedove= You can then use [apt pinning][1] to prevent Icedove from being upgraded again. > But I still need to get to 60.x since I need Torbirdy to work and there is no chance to use it in 68.x Why doesn't Torbirdy support 68.x? Thunderbird 68.0 was released 8 months ago, and Debian, on which TailsOS is based, replaced Thunderbird 60 with 68 a while ago. Re: [Trisquel-users] How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?
I suspected as much. But I still need to get to 60.x since I need Torbirdy to work and there is no chance to use it in 68.x At least for now. Hopefully the TAILS team will be able to merge enough patches to upstream and things will be smoother in the future. I was just mentioning that if for some chance some updates came along I would want them to be installed.
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?
I am running Trisquel 8, but in Synaptic the only options are 68, 52 and 45. Why does Trisquel include older versions such as 45 and not have the version that was available just 2 days ago? :( More to the point, how do I get the 60 version to install? Thanks.
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?
First see whether the old version is still available in the repository. Then you can try to freeze the version of certain packages using the package manager. However it is possible to cause dependency problem when upgrading other packages. If you can't reinstall the old version, then try to contact the developers of the plugin to see whether they can update their plugin to support new versions.
Re: [Trisquel-users] remastering trisquel 8 iso (having a problem with it)
Obviously, your USB drive was indeed "bootable", otherwise you wouldn't see syslinux's error messages, only that you have to correct the configuration files. You may need to read syslinux's documentation. I recently tried to remaster a Debian Live USB and managed to make the persistence partition working under either BIOS or UEFI. To achieve this, I plowed through both syslinux's and grub's documentation, and succeeded on the second try.
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?

[Trisquel-users] How to downgrade Icedove from 68 to 60?
Hey everyone, Today I had some updates available, one of them being Icedove. I was using Icedove 60, with Torbirdy addon, which is incompatible with Icedove 68. So, how do I downgrade to 60 (to the latest version available if possible) ? And how do I prevent it from being upgraded? I still want to get updates if it's 60. but not 68.xxx Thanks.
[Trisquel-users] remastering trisquel 8 iso (having a problem with it)
tried to "remaster" trisquel 8 iso (64bit, default 2.6 Gb edition) using these instructions: https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/customizing-trisquel-iso resulting iso was only 2.2 Gb (the only change I made is installing tiny 2048-qt package, to test if remastering process works) after making bootable USB flash drive from it (trie twice: with rufus and trisquel's own "startup disk creator") and tried to boot from it drive written with startup disk creator it refused to even start to boot, as if the drive was not bootable with drive written with rufus got this error (instead of # and $ were "table corner" characters, no idea how to type them): SYSLINUX 4.07 EDD 2013-07-25 Copyright (C) 1994-2013 H. Peter Anvin et al Unknown keyword in configuration file: #u$nU No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found boot: multiple forum posts suggested renaming isolinux folder and files to syslinux, after doing so I got this error: SYSLINUX 4.07 EDD 2013-07-25 Copyright (C) 1994-2013 H. Peter Anvin et al Could not find kernel image: /isolinux/isolinux.cfg boot: and could not find how to resolve it. there is a (text) isolinux.cfg file in USB drive's root folder which references /isolinux/isolinux.cfg but after changing this reference according to changed folder/file name I got exactly same error any pointers on what may be causing there errors and what can I try to fix them? or maybe alternative remastering tool or process?

Re: [Trisquel-users] How do I fix an x200’s internet kill switch?
The Fn+F5 only works when the hardware switch is on. Since the imperfect connection is a common problem with X200 series, it's recommended that you short the hardware switch. Do you still remember any details in the guide?
Re: [Trisquel-users] How do I fix an x200’s internet kill switch?
Oh also I forgot to mention that i’ve already tried Fn/F5 (even tho i’m p sure this only affects sw), and I found a guide for soldering the wireless switch to “ON”, but I can’t seem to find the guide anymore
