Re: [Trisquel-users] Security updates, Trisquel base, Glib snapd library

Ubuntu recently made libsnapd-glib1 a dependency of pulseaudio. My guess is
that it is being installed because trisquel-base depends on pulseaudio.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Cannot click some buttons in LuCI on Midori

2020-05-19 Thread msuzuqi
No I guess it should be a drop-down menu, not a textbox. Because please see
the space or the box carefully, before the letter "tun0", there is an icon
that its shape seems to be a jack and a LAN cable.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Fix TrisquelStudio-Controls

2020-05-19 Thread mason
I have a new version of the package helper for ubuntustudio-controls which I
think should work, but I don't have a Trisquel 9 system handy to test it on.
I am also having a problem with Trisquel's Gitlab instance and can't push my
changes. Can you test the following package helper and tell me if it works
for you? I have changed the following:

* Rebrand in a way less likely to be broken again by upstream changes
* Use the generic name "Studio Setup Utility" rather than "Trisquel Studio
Controls" since there is no distro called "Trisquel Studio"
* Backport from Ubuntu 20.04 instead of the Ubuntu Studio PPA, which no
longer supports 18.04

* Replace the Ubuntu Studio logo with a generic icon

[Trisquel-users] Re : Cannot click some buttons in LuCI on Midori

2020-05-19 Thread lcerf
I would try to do what the guide says: click on what is supposed to be a
drop-down menu, type tun0 and [Enter]. If that works, it is a terrible
graphical interface: it should not be a drop-down menu, as you wrote.

... *crickets* ... I guess I will ask about this in the next trisquel-dev
meeting :D

Re: [Trisquel-users] Cannot click some buttons in LuCI on Midori

2020-05-19 Thread msuzuqi
See the second screenshot, please? Under the title "Create Interface", there
is a column where the letters "MULLVAD_VPN" are written. Here, in this type
of space, we can type something freely.

Next, there is a space where the letters "Unmaneged" is written on the middle
of the example of LuCI interface. Here, we cannot type something into freely.
Because if you click the space, kind of popup appears and you can choose one
of them by clicking. You cannot type anything in the space, right? And I can
choose "Unmanaged" according to this instruction without problem.

Next, there is another space, this is the subject of this thread, you can see
the letters "tun0" and kind of an icon in the space. Here, you cannot choose
anything nor type anything because even if you click on the space, or button,
nothing happens. There are other this type of buttons too on some pages of
LuCI.

There might be a space where I can type "tun0", but at least in this page,
there seems not to be such a space, right? How to handle this problem? Would
you give me a little bit of your time, please? Or should I ask OpenWRT team?
I would mind it because I know they will ignore my email, that may mean it is
waste of time. But that might be a problem of OpenWRT rather than Trisquel.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Cannot click some buttons in LuCI on Midori

But there is no space to type something.

[Trisquel-users] Re : Cannot click some buttons in LuCI on Midori

It is supposed to open something and I should be able to choose tun0.

Te guide you link to does not say that. It says:
type "tun0" at "Custom Interface" and press Enter

[Trisquel-users] Re : Security updates, Trisquel base, Glib snapd library

2020-05-19 Thread lcerf
snapd-glib is a library to allow GLib based applications access to snapd, the
daemon that controls Snaps.
Snaps are 'universal' packages that work across many different Linux systems,
enabling secure distribution of the latest apps and utilities for cloud,
servers, desktops and the internet of things.

My eeepc is 1001px, works well with light distro, and using Midori or
Seamonkey I can use JavaScript without problems (i.e. for gmail... please
don't bite me...) the last 3 years I always use Trisquel Mini on it without
problems, I love it

Thanks for your answer,
I always use Trisquel Mini 9 on my netbook
I think is the best o.s. to use and all
is ok with Trisquel Mini 8, the version 9
probably have some bug...
I upgrade from Mini 8 to Mini 9 some months ago
I ask about the iso just for curiosity...
maybe is time to made a new installation

I think I installed from
http://jenkins.trisquel.info/makeiso-etiona/iso/20200421/trisquel-mini_9.0_amd64.iso

Using the "graphical" installer because see first message in this thread.

I haven't got a smartphone.

If you cannot install Trisquel Mini on your Eeee PC, have you checked if you
can install other distros (or use live systems), like Debian LXDE or Debian
Xfce?

Thank you very much for the reply. I still keep a few 32-bit computers,
including two ThinkPad X40, currently used for GNU/Hurd testing.

Since I probably won't use said 32-bit computers to run latest packages
(i.e., for non-critical tasks only), I may consider to install incoming
Trisquel Mini on one of them. I really enjoy the desktop environment
customization made by Trisquel.

I once had one Asus eeePC with an Atheros AR2427 WLAN card. It worked
smoothly under GNU/Linux, though it's no longer working now.

As long as you don't use it to browse JavaScript enabled webpages, the
performance is barely acceptable, roughly as fast (or slow) as my
16-years-old ThinkPad X40 (also equipped with an Atheros card).

This time, internet works even though I don't think I restarted!? I have no
idea why. After waking up from suspend, I used logout and login AND Magic
Banana's command, but it's possible it didn't even need all that, I failed to
check. A nice surprise, anyway. I wonder if I can find some consistency.

On the other hand, there are still so many things that don't work as I want.
Locking doesn't lock, there's a widespread lack of navigation by letter keys
(in Trisquel Mini LXDE's main menu and in many programs), a dearth of
shortcuts (or shortcuts exist but aren't documented), a general dearth of
documentation and explanation beyond what's already obvious from the UI (of
the sort "To edit, select 'edit'. This lets you edit."), program features not
working as advertised, system freezes. As with many things in life, upgrading
to newer software often seems to be one step forward and one backward at the
same time.
