What i did: First generate a "modeline" by using cvt. (below you see all my attempt in terminal) Second telling to xrandr the newmode. But it failed. I know for sure if i install Nvidia Drivers it will be ok. But i dont wanna this. In the past i installed APT Repository for Linux-libre of JXSELF. I was in that time in Debian Jessie. So i installed the 4.1 kernel Previous long-term support (LTS) version. And it worked like a charm. But now with Debian Stretch, and doing "uname -a" the kernel is 4.9. I did with "sudo apt install linux-libre-4.9" and didn't worked as expected. I even tried after "sudo apt install linux-libre-lts" noting works! The last resort i have is Nvidia drivers. For instance, i tried Opensuse and *everthing* works. I dont know what i need to do now. I got lost. Thanks for your support.

Hello, I tried to install Trisquel Alpha 8. It gave me a black screen after the instalation and i could do noting more than to see a black monitor screen. So i installed fresh Debian 9 GNOME (only main). But it doesn't recognize my screen resolution that is 1680x1050. It only displays 1280x1024. Anyone knows how to get 1680x1050 resolution? In the past i tried the testing version of Debian(that is now the stable version Stretch) and i thought the error was because it was testing and not stable. So now we have Stable version and the result is the same... You can see the file attachment below. Thank you in advance.

Thank you Magic Banana! I know i should have ketp my odt file of libreoffice but i dont know where i have placed it. It was my curriculum. Maybe i have deleted it accidentally i dont know. It is a bit old that document. Anyway i already learned to not make that mistake again LOL Thank you again , it was useful to learn the pdftotext thing, it saved me time to put the text onto another document. That was great :D

The part of closed captions is now solved :D For those who needs to get subtitles via mps-youtube you need to download gcap. You can get it by apper/ synaptic etc. Now retrieve the link via mps-youtube and then copy to other terminal gcap xx (that link you retrieved). Once downloaded open again with mps-youtube and the video program. Select this subtitle and there u go. :) Still the comments section by authors is not solved.

Oh.. and by the way... there is also no subtitles/closed captions. Several videos on youtube have subtitles. On mps-youtube i cant have subtitles :\ For instance: "Curso de Java #01 - História do Java - Gustavo Guanabara" there is no subtitles when going by terminal. But on yt there are available. Subtitles are very important for me...

In this case in your search "Free Software Song (animación con subtitulos español)" "i" (view information on video) is just brief description of the video by the author where "c" (view comments for video) only appears comment's users but not the author of the video. In this very case you showed there is no comment reply by the author of the video. Now, for other examples try: "CUAL ES MI MISION PARA QUE NACI PARA QUE SIRVO - EL PODER INTERIOR " there you have on youtube site the replies from the author but on the "c" comment you only see comments from other users and not a single reply by the author himself. I know it because i tried on youtube and there the author answered some very important questions by users. It is like when i do "c" i only get questions and not answers... and answers is important too. Thanks for your reply SuperTramp83 :)

Hello all!! In the first place before you throw rocks on me i know this is trisquel site and not debian. But what i am asking is not for *debian things only*. I did a fresh install of Debian KDE from Jessie (8) to Stretch (9). I want to change monitor resolution to 1600x1050. You see below my pic showing that is 1280x1024 maximum screen size. When i was on Debian Jessie i went to https://jxself.org/linux-libre/ site and did it. All went smooth. As before was 1280x1024 automatically changed to the correct screen size to 1600x1050. Now before changing anything i want to ask you guys if i go to jxsef.org again and download kernel series 4.8 will work? I mean: i did uname -a and the display was Linux debian 4.8.0-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.8.5-1 (2016-10-28) x86_64 GNU/Linux So as you see there is kernel 4.8.0-1 but in January i think this Stretch Debian will turn stable. But jxself says on his site that "A new long-term version will be selected roughly once each year. The next will be 4.9, which is expected in December 2016." So at the moment as i am writing this we are on 22 November. Just a few more days and i can expect this stable 4.9 will available in a few days. So his site has 4.1 kernel (that is pretty old compared to 4.8 kernel). And has 4.8 kernel, that only will lives for 2 months. 4.9 kernel is not available for now. What i do? Hello all! There is any workaround to get KDE 5.5.4 (as i am writing this) or GNOME 3.18 working with Trisquel? I know of Parabola but i want to stick to "simple things" as Parabola is pretty complicated to assemble... like something Debian Testing but on Trisquel side? I tried live Chakra Linux and i really enjoyed the KDE so polished! Themes and Dolphin is much more beautiful and easy to split windows than for instance in Gnome, just pressing F3 we can do it that easy. On another hand on GNOME i like more Transmission , Evolution, etc. Of course i know perfection doesn’t exist, we can't have all in one otherwise we will have a very bloated system... Thanks in advance.
