Re: [Trisquel-users] New Trisquel user issue with dual boot Grub 2.02
Cool! I used gksudo gedit /etc/grub.d/01_PASSWORD and put the # in front of the lines. It says there is a default password on grub. Then i did sudo update-grub2. It worked. Thanks! I tried "add to panel" but the sound and network buttons aren't there. Also, i did the same thing to the time, i had to add a clock from "add to panel" which isn't the same.
Re: [Trisquel-users] New Trisquel user issue with dual boot Grub 2.02
When i select windows i get a black screen saying "username:" then when i type in anything i think may work and press enter i get "password:" and i type in whatever and then after a few more seconds im back to grub with the 3 options. Is there a default username and password? If I'm not mistaken, this is a bug Try: 1. Making the /etc/grub.d/01_PASSWORD file empty (or remove it). (You need Sudo) 2. performing sudo update-grub from the terminal.
[Trisquel-users] New Trisquel user issue with dual boot Grub 2.02
Hello, this is my first post. I've been using trisquel a while now and i really like it, it's very solid, and i feel safe and private, like when i'm wearing clothes, or when my curtains are drawn. You know, basic human rights. However i've a couple of issues First is the biggest issue. I installed Trisquel alongside Windows 7 which was on the computer first. So after a while of enjoying Trisquel, i needed to use windows but i seem to be locked out. It goes to grub, where i have 3 options trisquel, trisquel advanced options and windows. When i select windows i get a black screen saying "username:" then when i type in anything i think may work and press enter i get "password:" and i type in whatever and then after a few more seconds im back to grub with the 3 options. Is there a default username and password? The other issue is at the bottom right corner, the sound and network buttons are gone. I think i right clicked on them and removed them and now i don't know how to get them back. Thank you very much and i look forward to becoming a part of the community :)
Re: [Trisquel-users] New Trisquel user issue with dual boot Grub 2.02
Regarding the second issue, you probably removed the indicator block(?) from the panel. You need to hold was it ctrl and right click the panel to be able to add things. Then it's just a question of finding the right animal to add. (I don't use the default user interface so I'm a little lost on the details...) Glad to hear you're enjoying freedom!
