Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
Thank you Andrew, that worked great! :)
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
Hi everyone. It's great to hear that Trisquel 7 is out! From what I read, I'm ready to try it. I have a couple of questions: 1) Are the latest images the 7.0-20140721-i18n? http://devel.trisquel.info/makeiso/iso/ 2) Where can I get the public key used to sign the package? 3) I'm about to install Trisquel for a friend. Do you think I should install Trisquel 6 or is 7 already stable enough for a first time user? Thank you!
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
I've been playing with 7 for a while, on a netbook, and have finally decided to install it onto my work-a-day Toshiba Satellite, after testing on the other box and the arrival of my new Think Penguin USB wifi radio for the Toshiba. My answers below. On 08/06/2014 07:40 PM, mve1 wrote: 1) Are the latest images the 7.0-20140721-i18n? http://devel.trisquel.info/makeiso/iso/ Yes, and there are new Trisquel mini, net install, and kde images, too. 3) I'm about to install Trisquel for a friend. Do you think I should install Trisquel 6 or is 7 already stable enough for a first time user? I'd go with 7; everything is 2 years newer than in 6.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
Thank you for the answers! I'm ready to try it as soon as I can find the pgp key used to sign the image. It should be somewhere obvious? I looked around but still can't find it. I see the .asc files. How did you verify the signature?

Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
my new trisquel 7.0 on asus x54c i3 quadcore processor intel ciao gennaro
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
That's not how you add it. You have to add it here. It's already there at http://h-node.org/notebooks/view/en/704/X54C. The video card is said not to work with 3d acceleration, but I have the same card in my desktop and it works, so change it if 3d acceleration works.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
It looks good, doesn't it? I like the dark theme for the application menu. Wallpaper is also very good.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
very nice dark theme in the new trisquel 7
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
surely I will insert in h-node, hi gennaro

Are we going green?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
OK. Cool, thanks! So, because I'm still a rookie at this, I have another question; should I go with the 944M triskel_7.0-20140629_i686.iso version? I'm assuming that the i signifies Intel. Also, I understand the Apple shame. I remember being mocked when having an Apple in public. Boy have times changed. Now I shame Apple with two strips of Duct tape—it marks an X over their glowing icon. Also, both my DuctBooks are used. While they may not be fully FREE, they serve as great transitional computers. Plus, a used computer is way better for the environment. Come to think of it, there are so many Apples out their...perhaps there should be a movement for modifying the hardware, e.g., building FREE from the recycled.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
i686 means 32 bit, amd64 means 64 bit (and can be used on Intel, AMD and others)
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
I'm glad I asked! Thanks.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
OK, thanks! So I have another question too—I'm still a bit new with this. Some time ago, I managed to install Trisquel 6.0 on my Macbook Air, dual boot, via reEFit. Similarly, I'd like to install a pre-release of Trisquel on an older MacBook Pro, i.e., MacBookPro5,1 with a 2.66 Intel Core 2 Duo. Which version of the pre-release should I install?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
When 7 is officially out, you can upgrade your prerelease, and you'll have 7. The link to the development iso is: http://devel.trisquel.info/makeiso/iso/
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
I'm on Trisquel 6, and I just want to make sure I understand this correctly. So, if I install a pre-release, then when 7.0 is officially released I can upgrade from within my pre-release install? That is, instead of a installing from another new ISO? Is that correct? And also, is the following link to pre-releases? http://devel.trisquel.info/makeiso/iso/
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
Does anyone, perhaps from the event, have some news?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
Hi, I could only get this photo from a twitter user. Looks like Trisquel 7 is ready.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
I'm still having problems on Aqemu but about to reboot the lappy to a live USB stick; can I just hit the install button now if all goes well or well there be a different .iso for the official release?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
There will be a new .iso for the 7.0 official release; if you install one of the pre-releases, and regularly do upgrades, you'll have the new Trisquel 7.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
Due to an unstable network connection at the site Rubén's talk will not be streamed live. A recording will be provided later.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
Thanks! Hope the best for him and the Trisquel community!
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
Thank you for the info. Yup, Chris had a separate thread on libreCMC before..
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
I wasn't aware of these developments. Thanks for the links!
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
I've been using it for the building and development of libreCMC. - Way cool man, way cool! (= Good luck with that, I will be one of your first testers. Since I am stuck with this s*it.. (see attachment). Neither I tried admission into https://www.turris.cz/en/ project nor am I able to grab a https://openwireless.org/ compatible box.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
I'm glad that you have an interest in libreCMC. Sadly, we can't support any ADSL+ modems / routers due to the non-free firmware that they need. In regards to the OpenWireless project, there are some talks with the libreCMC project where we may include some components that they use. Sadly, their current images have non-free parts, but I am quite supportive of the idea of giving free wifi access to people. If you want a router with libreCMC, ThinkPenguin will soon be selling one that will include libreCMC along with a nice source code CD (includes libreCMC + u-boot bootloader).
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
I'm looking forward to hearing the news! I've been anticipating 7 for some time, especially with news of a newer version of Pitivi in the mix.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
Will it use SystemD?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
It will use the same thing Ubuntu 14.04 uses, which I'm pretty sure is Upstart still. Ubuntu's plan is to migrate to systemd, though, so I guess Ubuntu 16.04, and therefore Trisquel 8, will probably use it.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
Could one please point out what that triskel thing is about? Is it a version based on KDE?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
Never mind, I thought Systemd was in Trusty's default repos - from the looks of it, it actually isn't. My bad. So 2 years it officially is before I can do a systemd-nspawn again! :)
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
I will be watching too! I've been using Trisquel 7 since March and I'm quite happy with it. I've been using it for the building and development of libreCMC.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
After your great job, it seems we can already try Trisquel 7.0.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
As somebody who starts from Debootstrap for me a release happens when the repos are up. And the repos have been up, alive, and kicking for months now :)
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
It's still being worked on, even in the airport on the way to the talk, and is not the final released version. I'm trying to generate some buzz here people but whatever, detractors.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
What detractors? (Hopefully you weren't referring to me!)
