Re: [Trisquel-users] Celestia - libre planet textures
For anyone wanting to see additional planet textures in Celestia, the new texture pack is now available here: https://archive.org/details/AdditionalCelestiaPlanetTextures It uses textures from the stellarium-data package, with no modifications to the image files. Makes the planets look nicer but may not be accurate for astronomical calculations. No .deb package yet and no plans to make one. Install is a one line cp , detail in docs/README in the tar.gz . New textures: amalthea.pngariel.png bianca.png callisto.png charon-lok.png deimos.png dione.png enceladus.png epimetheus.png eros.png europa.png ganymede.png gaspra-lok.png hyperion.png iapetus.png ida.png io.png janus.png jupiter.png mars.png mercury.png mimas.png miranda.png moon.png neptune.png oberon.png phobos.png phoebe.png pluto-lok.png prometheus.png proteus.png rhea.png saturnsurface.png tethys.png titania.png titan.png triton.png umbriel.png uranus.png vesta-lok.png
Re: [Trisquel-users] Celestia - libre planet textures
Yes! Starting with a direct Stellarium texture import looks like the first step. This list helps a lot. Thanks.

Looks nice...? http://i.imgur.com/4FRWnd6.png -//- OK, to everyone else, question still stands. IIRC NASA data is released to the public domain. Can anyone link these libre texture sources or files that could serve as a base to create a texture pack? thanks

I'm not sure how to help, sorry. Just stopping by to say that LibrePlanet 2015 looks nice. :)
