I noticed last night that our Fox station, instead of running Smackdown, was
showing the national feed of Stadium – a high-school football game from
Sinclair’s Nashville station. (Not that Fox’s network feed to the local
Sinclair affil has been off all week; brother-mine’s DVR shows an actual
broadcast of The Masked Singer from Wednesday.)

Washington, DC's WJLA airs Wheel and Jeopardy. Given their proximity to
corporate HQ in suburban Baltimore, they may be getting more attention than
some of the other stations.

But even in much larger markets than Traverse City, they're still not
totally back to normal. At least as of yesterday evening, Austin's KEYE
still has no computer graphics in their newscasts other than the weather
segment and seems to be manually switching the newscasts and running local
ads, but otherwise, it would be hard to tell that anything was wrong.

Re: [TV orNotTV] Sinclair Ransomware Attack

2021-10-23 Thread Ben Scripps
Almost a week later and our local Sinclair (WPBN and WGTU, NBC and ABC
respectively) is still unable to run any local commercials, but they've at
least gotten some of their programming back. J! and Wheel reappeared on
Wednesday night, with local commercial pods filled by their weather camera
looking at the Mackinac Bridge and news music running in the background.
(Curiously, in one of the Jeopardy! breaks, they switched off of the camera to
about five seconds of what appeared to be a political commercial featuring Tim
Kaine being asked about abortion. Perhaps there's a Sinclair in Virginia
that's been feeding copies of their shows up to Traverse City?)

Their newscasts are still limited to a single anchor standing in front of a
monitor with a static logo in it. Their weather graphics appear to have been
either unaffected or fully restored, but those are the only graphics they have.
It's pretty pitiful. And I'm sure market #118 is nowhere near the top of
Sinclair's list of priorities.
