Yeah, it is definitely a highlight of the TV season… if there is such a
thing as seasons anymore

I suspect it’s akin to the portrayal of Dr. Bob Hartley on the Bob Newhart
Show.

we finished Season 1 tonight. I really like the show and I laughed many
times each episode.I always love the characters that Christa Miller
plays.

I highly recommend this "comedy about grief" as the writers said.

I'm curious on a take from PGage on the series. Everyone I know that
works in a hospital always says "It's not like on Grey's Anatomy" (or E.R.
or Chicago Hope, or whatever).

[TV orNotTV] Quickie Review: Agent Elvis

2023-03-24 Thread Kevin M.
Priscilla Presley is credited as co-creator and co-exec. Clearly she has a
lot of unresolved feelings about the King.

Or she just smokes a lot of weed.

[TV orNotTV] 'SNL' Editors Strike Averted

2023-03-24 Thread Mark Jeffries
The people who edit the pre-shot segments for "Saturday Night LIve" and
NBCU have agreed to a pact that recognizes the IATSE union representing
the editors, while NBCU agrees to raises, health care and meals, hotels and
transportation for the staff who do most of their work overnight on Fridays
to get the segments ready for the live telecast (the sketches are usually
shot Thursday and Friday before the telecast):

[TV orNotTV] NoTV: NPR Drops 4 Podcasts as Part of Belt-Tightening

2023-03-24 Thread Mark Jeffries
The public radio network has already begun to lay off 10% of its staff and
not fill vacancies and has sent packing the long-running
storytelling/science show "Invisibilia", the hip-hop docuseries "Louder
Than a Riot," the how-people-overseas-view-the-US show "Rough Translation"
and the relatively-new "Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me!" stablemate talk show
"Everyone & Their Mom." The staffs are being laid and the shows will
disappear over the next few months:

https://www.thewrap.com/npr-cancels-podcasts-layoffs/?utm_source=newsletter_medium=email_campaign=breaking_news_7234676

The reason behind all this is the drop in underwriting revenue (which on
the podcasts, they can actually call "advertising," since the FCC doesn't
regulate podcasts--and on podcasts you can do what is verboten on
non-commercial radio, like price comparisons and "calls to action"), in
particular the podcasts, probably because NPR doesn't allow its hosts to do
sales pitches for the sponsors.
