The Capitol Steps had been performing for years before I went to a show,
two, in fact -- because a local HWCNBN fan's husband performed with the
troupe.  So, I'm guessing that was in 2004 or 2005.

I'm pretty sure Russell was the entertainment at an event I went to, only I
can't remember which one.  That's what happens when you get old.  He was an
institution in the city for decades, so I'm glad I got to see him in
person.

I used to rather enjoy Mark Russell although, to be honest, I was about 12
during his heyday in the mid-80s. The Capitol Steps couldn't clean
Russell's novelty piano.

I put them half a step below Russell, who was occasionally mildly amusing
through random chance. The Steps were impressive in being consistently
unfunny in violation of the laws of probability.
