And the G4 staff worked in the same building as the E! and then-Style
Network staff in Santa Monica, so one would think that one would pick up on
the other. I assume NBCU is still running that facility, even if Chelsea
moved to Conan's old soundstage on the Universal lot.

Tragic. They could have taught plenty to those from E!, Bravo, Esquire et

[TV orNotTV] Lizzy Caplan on Dave?

2014-07-10 Thread PGage
There is a Seinfeld episode in which Elaine leaves a sexy message on
Jerry's tape recorder (he had been recording his act), and George hears it
and suddenly takes a new interest in Elaine. I kind of feel that way about
Lizzy Caplan after the first season of Masters of Sex. I have always really
liked her, but in a kind of comfortable, friend way. But now I find a
renewed, special interest in seeing her, and I have not since the end of
the first season.

My Xfinity onscreen program guide indicated that she was going to be on
Dave last night. But when I went to watch it this morning, it was Poppy
whatshername. The Late Show web site has Poppy down as the guest as well.
Does anyone know if Lizzy really was originally scheduled, if so what
happened, and whether she will be on anytime soon?

Most any listing for this week had Caplan scheduled for last night's show.

She was bumped by Cher the last time she was scheduled to sit with Dave.
However, she was listed as a guest in the open that night, and she did appear
the next night.

In other Masters of Sex news, Michael Sheen was on with Craig last night, but
it was pre-taped.

I've got songs saved for a Letterman CD when I get around to it and How Do you
Like Me Now will be one of them. It just rocks.
Cage the Elephant's Ain't No Rest for the Wicked is so much better on

I really don't recommend that anybody read that paper. A small part of it
is his breaking shows down according how much is spent on scripted and
unscripted segments. Then he goes show by show and gives his opinions about
the hosts. His opinions about the hosts have nothing to do with the
numerical analysis, and when I read it, I thought it was a project done by
a very young grad (or even undergrad) student and not a communications
professor. As an academic publishing a paper, he should at least have
gotten in touch with some producers and asked them why they chose to
structure their shows the way they do. This was a very poor effort and is
of almost no value - the only value is the chart with the numbers.

I haven't bothered reading the paper yet but I have met Mr. Winzenberg on a
couple of
occasions. He teaches at a very small college here in town and, when I dealt
with him, he
also hosted a weekend radio show on WHO-AM (the former home of Ronnie Reagan).
Our interaction was around the time of The Beatles' Anthology project, I was
writer and
editor for a Beatles video collector's newsletter and his most memorable
question to me
was what are they really like? - as if I was a personal friend of theirs.
