Re: [U2] Epicor and Eclipse Was Re: PICK Systems Administrator position

2011-04-06 Thread Bill Pizer
Interesting indeed. I thought that I would check out the website contained
in Joe's original email bsgstaffing.com, I was not surprised that I can
not find a viable website at the address.

[U2] Justification for removal of savedlists

2006-02-06 Thread Bill Pizer
I wrote a small routine that will go through Savedlists, HOLD files, ST.PPROCES
records, etc. and selectively delete the records that are no longer needed but
I have been stopped by my VP.

She wants justification for the process. I don't have the knowledge to be able
to give her what she wants. I've tried the following arguments with no luck:

Savedlists can be outdated as soon as they are created.
Taking up too much server room.

Any one have any others to try?

I thought that I had read somewhere that it is possible to combine multiple commands
in the AFter section of the QueryBuilder product. Is that so? If so, how? TIA!!

I wholeheartedly support the previous two posters' comments.
Best is to have your new person use PE on a machine not connected to the network, the
only totally safe strategy.

[U2] UniDK

2004-07-16 Thread Bill Pizer
I have a user who wants access to UniDK. Any particular reasons one way or the other?
I do not know enough about the product myself but I know some of you do. :-)

He is a beginning power user who wants to try to write pieces of a data warehouse in
Java/C.

Thanks!!

Re[2]: [U2] Monitoring a count of users logged on

2004-06-25 Thread Bill Pizer
I have this running every 60 minutes for UniData:

totallogins=`/usr/ud60/bin/listuser |head -4| tail -1 |awk '{print $6}'`
wwwlogins=`ps -eaf |grep udapi_slave |grep -v grep | wc -l |sed s/ //g`
ssllogins=`ps -eaf |grep udtelnet |grep -v grep |wc -l |sed s/ //g`
dat=`date` echo
TOT=$totallogins,WWW=$wwwlogins,SSL=$ssllogins $dat  /tmp/count_udt

You'll need a way to save the fourth line of the listuser output to the
end of a log file along with a timestamp.

UNIX or Windows?

I need to be able to monitor the number of users logged into the server. I
would want this to run periodically (say every 10 minutes) Monday through
Friday, 08:00 - 15:00. I would like the output to go to a text file for
later analysis. The output could be as simple as Date, Time, # of Users
logged in.

Is this something I can do via UniAdmin? Do I need to write a basic program
and run it as a phantom?

Thanks.
