Re: [U2] Mobile phones

2013-07-10 Thread Maillists
Hi Symeon,

In our phone call billing system, based in Australia, we can't tell if a called
number in the US is a mobile. Perhaps someone in the US may have some way of
knowing. This web site gives a lot of information regarding the relevant
numbers per country.

Subject: [U2] Mobile phones

Hi

I have an application that is based in the UK, one of the things it does is
allow entry of a phone number, I then determine if this is a mobile (cell
phone) and send a text (easy in the uk as all mobiles begin with 07)

We are embarking upon our first US client (well existing uk customer with a
US presence) so my question is - how with US phone numbers can I determine
if it is a cell phone ?

Thanks

Symeon.

Re: [U2] canon ir4025 printer on redhat

One of my customers has this same printer setup on RHES5. I am using the HP PCL
4/5 driver and printing to port 9100. Shared it using Samba. I did use webmin
to do all the setup tho.

Subject: [U2] canon ir4025 printer on redhat

I have a customer who just got a Canon ir-4025 copier/printer/everythingelse.
Unable to find a linux driver I downloaded a product called BrightQPro which
allowed me to install the printer on the redhat system. I can print using
lp or lpr, I can print web pages and from Office, but UniVerse cannot see
the printer: Requested printer does not exist. Has anybody used these
products, I have done everything I could think of about 7 times.

Thanks

Re: [U2] Dynamic Connect TimeOut

Another spot to check is the windows screen saver / hibernation setting. I
found I had to turn off allowing a machine going into hibernation, especially
laptops.

Maybe, maybe not. If one port is open on the firewall to allow the
connection, but, another is required to keep the connection alive, and
thats the one its not allowing out, then that could be your problem. Just
another SWAG.

I would think if the firewall was an issue, you wouldn't be able to

  Thanks John,

I'll have a word with the system admin if I actually (need to) have the
  firewall switched on.
Win7 is new to us. I have been the guinea pig and can live with it.
But all new PCs in the company are now Win7 so getting this sorted would
 be
  nice.

One thing to note, which you may already know...

The Windows Firewall in WIndows 7 filters inbound and OUTBOUND traffic.

So you may just want to turn it off altogether and see what happens.
