Re: [Ubnt_users] EP-S16

2018-04-06 Thread TJ Trout
Clay, this isn't true for the newer revision of the EP-S16 it's more like
39-58ish, check the spec sheet as they now actually conform to the spec
sheet.

You can't turn your +48V psu to 54v? Most supplies are adjustable (might
need to open it) without using a dc-dc converter

Re: [Ubnt_users] EP-S16

2018-03-21 Thread TJ Trout
Cut off 46v , I would be cautious because even ubnt had to send me 9 units
to find one with the proper date code.

Hi TJ,

We have a design change for the input voltage from datecode 1641 and later.
This change adjusts min. input voltage to 39V. The previous version of
EP-S16 will turn-off 24V PoE output while input voltage under 45V.
If you would like to fill out an RMA I would be glad to get you a
replacement with the latest revision. Just let me know once the RMA is
submitted and confirm the email you used.

not match the spec. The newer date codes match the spec. I cannot remember

[Ubnt_users] FS: Easy pass thru RJ45s heavy gold plated

2017-12-23 Thread TJ Trout
Easy to install RJ45 connectors, plated in rare 50 micron GOLD, most
connectors are only plated with 3 micron of gold.

Rated for CAT5E but CAT6 seems to fit and work well. Thousands deployed in
the field over the last 12 months prior to offering these for sale. Fits
tough cable carrier.

Re: [Ubnt_users] Watchdog on the Edge Point line

2016-12-31 Thread TJ Trout
PoE Watchdog PoE Watchdog is only for PoE-enabled ports. It configures the
device to continuously ping a user-defined IP address (it can be the
Internet gateway, for example). If it is unable to ping under the
user-defined constraints, then the device will automatically turn off PoE
on the port, and then turn it back on. This option creates a kind of
“fail-proof” mechanism. PoE Watchdog is dedicated to continuous monitoring
of the specific connection to the remote host using the Ping tool. The Ping
tool works by sending ICMP echo request packets to the target host and
listening for ICMP echo response replies. If the specified number of
replies is not received, the tool reboots the device. • Enable Watchdog
Enable the use of PoE Watchdog. - IP Address To Ping Specify the IPv4 or
IPv6 address of the target host to be monitored by PoE Watchdog. - Ping
Interval Specify the time interval (in seconds) between the ICMP echo
requests that are sent by PoE Watchdog. The default value is 15 seconds. -
Startup Delay Specify the initial time delay (in seconds) until the first
ICMP echo requests are sent by PoE Watchdog. The default value is 300
seconds. The Startup Delay value should be at least 60 seconds as the
network interface and wireless connection initialization takes a
considerable amount of time if the device is rebooted.

But anyways, i have come across about 6 customers who have a
fried/burnt cat5e connector that is plugged into the PoE port of the UBNT
injector. Has happened on cabling with and without the ESD drain wire, has
happened both on gel-filled and non gel-filled cable, Has happened while
plugged directly in wall power and on surge protectors. Has happened on
Rockets and Nanostations. However, all were using the UBNT 24VDC/1A PoE
 injectors.

 Any ideas?
