Re: [Ubnt_users] UBNT 6.0.6 WARNING

2017-07-07 Thread Mimbres Communications
I think I may have found the source of some potential confusion here:

https://community.ubnt.com/t5/airMAX-M-Beta/6-0-6-on-official-download-is-it-beta-or-release-REAL-JUNK/m-p/1985788
claims that 6.0.6-BETA

*does* allow downgrades -- and can itself be uploaded to radios running
6.0.6 GA .

Re: [Ubnt_users] UBNT 6.0.6 WARNING

2017-07-07 Thread Tiago SR
I not only blame UBNT for that, but also have to say: Ubiquiti, you do not own
your customer's equipments!
If your fucking M5 products were decent, there would be no need for migrating
to ePMP.

Thank Gosh it's still possible to install third party firmwares after
downgrading to 6.0.4.

I can understand the concern but I'm not sure if there is going to be any
changes made on the old firmwares.

If you have any other questions, please let us know!

Thanks!

We had to find a PBE 5 AC radio, put 8.0.2 on it, load up the 8.0.2

we figured this out in the office before we took it to the field.

8.3 does seem to be working so far, but all of these firmware versions needing
new configurations is almost as bad as MikroTik!

Re: [Ubnt_users] UBNT 6.0.6 WARNING

2017-07-07 Thread Mitch

The firmware pre 6.0.6 is not a "secure" firmware so

the radios will not allow it to be loaded via Gui nor ssh

The only way to get older firmware on the radio after upgrade to 6.0.6

is to TFTP the radio and load pre 6.0.6

Hi Mitch,

I can understand the concern but I'm not sure if there is going to be
any changes made on the old firmwares.

If you have any other questions, please let us know!

Thanks!

8.3 does seem to be working so far, but all of these
firmware versions needing new configurations is almost as
bad as MikroTik!

Re: [Ubnt_users] UBNT 6.0.6 WARNING

2017-07-07 Thread James Wilson
We just received an AC 'chiclet' that had 8.1.something on it that wouldn't
let us use an 8.0.2 (our current known working version on all of our AC
radios) configuration on it. And it wouldn't let us put 8.0.2 on it!

We had to find a PBE 5 AC radio, put 8.0.2 on it, load up the 8.0.2
configuration, put 8.3 on it, and back up a new 8.3 configuration.
Fortunately we figured this out in the office before we took it to the
field.

8.3 does seem to be working so far, but all of these firmware versions
needing new configurations is almost as bad as MikroTik!

How does something like this get out of the factory?

Heads up if you upgrade to 6.0.6 it will NOT allow

you to down grade firmware and seems to break

the LAN side of the radio.

Allows POE but no data and no LAN Graph

Have opened a support ticket but so far not much help

Looks like truck rolls to change radios so be careful

Re: [Ubnt_users] UBNT 6.0.6 WARNING

2017-07-07 Thread Mitch

Looks like 6.0.4 is the last down gradable firmware

Going to be very hard to even test new betas without a truck roll

to TFTP it back if it does not work

Hi Mitch,

Thanks for the remote access!

There are some changes in v6.0.6. Here is the part of change log:

6.0.6 (XM/XW/TI) Changelog / July 5, 2017

New:
- Signed firmware support
- Upgrade libpcap to 1.8.1
- Additional statistics for AC2 agent

V6.0.6 only support signed firmware support that's the reason
we're getting that error while downgrading the firmware via GUI.
However, you can downgrade the firmware via TFTP.

Thanks!

So no you cannot down grade below 6.0.6

seems to indicate you should be able to downgrade to an earlier
6.0 FW version, then again from there if needed.
