Re: Beta version of Feisty Fawn: problems with BRLTTY and Orca
Hi Luke, How did you start the live CD? Did you choose any of the options from the Accessibility boot menu? I did not choose an option but entered the CD and waited. Unfortunately, one cannot clearly make out when one actually is in the boot menu. The CD only stops spinning for an instant and then continues rather quickly. Possibly, one could improve the CD's accessibility by having a blip played out by the PC speaker and by setting up a longer timeout. This is how the Oralux CD works. Which option should I choose? Being in a rush, I was not able to find any recent information on the Ubuntu website. I also believe there are instructions on how to install Ubuntu using Orca on the Orca wiki, http://live.gnome.org/ORCA. Upgrading to Orca
Hi Folks I would like to upgrade my Orca v1.0 to v2.18 or the recently announced v2.19 I've read through the Orca page on this, and since I'm new to upgrading on Linux without using the Update Manager, I am a bit confused with the steps I need to go through to do this. I understand the following commands that I believe need to be carried out: sudo apt-get remove gnome-orca sudo apt-get build-dep gnome-orca sudo apt-get install subversion gnome-common The questions that I have are: - is this all that is required? - will this take the download from the Ubuntu package store and if so is the package at v2.18 or 2.19? - if not, where and how do I get it? - will the upgrade also include eSpeak and it's dependancies, or is more work required? You'll appreciate that I don't want to do this without full confidence as once Orca is removed, and if there is more than these 3 commands, Ubuntu may become unuseable for me. does the help center work with orca
Hi, is the help center accessible with orca. This isn't something I have had a use for in some time. However today I tried to use it and hear things like network and so on red when pressing the tab or arrow keys. My problem is I don't ever get to a point where I can read about these entries. If the help center does work with orca, what is the correct way to get to the text on these entries. Thanks Mike. X-Antivirus: avast! gnome-mag 0.14.3 command-line configuration
Hello, everyone. I just have two questions concerning gnome-mag-0.14.3. I just donwloaded the source, compiled, and installed the program today after downgrading from Ubuntu Feisty to Edgy (did a fresh install of Edgy). These questions are related to the command-line options/parameters for gnome-mag as I use it soley now rather than through Orca. I have a launcher set up for gnome-mag using the following command-line parameters: magnifier -hmz 5.0 This sets up gnome-mag to dock horizontally with a zoom factor of 5.0. The questions are as follows: 1) By default the magnifier is docked at the bottom half of my screen. Due to back pains I cannot hunch myself for long periods of time to read the magnified portion. Is there a way to set the magnified portion to the top half of my screen? 2) Is there a command-line parameter that I can use to remove the crosshairs? I've searched through the manpage and help file, but I cannot find anything related to this. Thanks in advance for any help regarding this situation. Take care. -- Ubuntu-accessibility mailing list Ubuntu-accessibility@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-accessibility
