[ubuntu-art] ubuntu logo
Hi, I saw a pink ubuntu logo in an ad for this : http://www.ziddu.com. The site uses the ubuntu logo on it's front page but it seams to have no relation at all about ubuntu... Isn't the ubuntu logo copyrighted or something? Who should be contacted about matters like this? I know it is only a little bit related to art but I didn't know who I could ask... Re: [ubuntu-art] ubuntu logo
No kidding, that's really bad! Well, it's pretty cool if you think about it. - Someone liked it that much they stole it! lol shadowh511 wrote: wow, that is a good example of blatant trademark use without permission! -- Ubuntu FTW! -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art
Re: [ubuntu-art] Ubuntu Logo
With both windows vista and osx pretty much they just took the original logo and made a web 2.0 glassy shiny look. I don't see this as being a huge problem for some theme for ubuntu. [ubuntu-art] Ubuntu Logo
Great work ! It's beautiful. However, Ubuntu's logo isn't a priority. I mean it's not the most ugly thing in Ubuntu. We should work on a new default theme for Ubuntu instead, actually we're discussing about it on the french forum : http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=140928 It has been said that Ubuntu's design was nearly ugly, and that is looked so old in front of Vista or Mac OSX. We don't want to copy any of these, but still Ubuntu is for everybody, and everybody's first feeling about Ubuntu is design. It can be stable, simply, efficient, if it's ugly, people shall keep sayin oh no Vista looks better, i'll keep it. So what about makin a new one ? Excuse my English, I'm french :). 2007/8/21, [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Send ubuntu-art mailing list submissions to ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] You can reach the person managing the list at [EMAIL PROTECTED] When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than Re: Contents of ubuntu-art digest... However, I thought I would post a link to an image i created earlier today... It's basically in the style of the Aqua globs that seem to be prominent throughout Mac OS X and more recently in Windows Vista. Please let me know if I'm the ten-millionth person to offer this suggestion...I figured that I was, but I thought that I'd give it a go anyhow. My inspiration came from a comment posted somewhere online which said that Linux looks like it was designed in Microsoft Paint. http://www.brianward.us/myspace/public/ubuntu-orb.png Thanks, Brian Ward [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art
Re: [ubuntu-art] ubuntu logo
Awesome work! The darker one (v1) seems to look better to me, while the others look rather flat. But that might be due to the missing strong gradients in the shapes' stroke lines. Hi all, I created a quick ubuntu logo using exaclty the same technique I used when desingning xubuntu. I put it temporarily here. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Incoming/XubuntuEdgy/Proposals What do you think. J. Looks as if you could pick it up right from the page. Very tangible and tasteful. I notice it doesn't have a thin shadow like the xubuntu one, is that on purpose? -- It was intentional. I thought, the warm ubuntu colors are dynamic enough and coming forward nicely without the help of the shadow; unlike the blue xubuntu logo, which is more receding and contemplative, and I thought the shadow might energize it a bit.
