Not to be unpleasant but I absolutely _dislike_ tropic.
Too saturated and bright, it hurts my eyes... Are you sure your monitor
have the right settings of contrast/brightness?
I've found that all your themes have those hurting colors... :)

Am I the one who find tropic not very good?

I think you two probably make the most contrasting themes I know :)

I personally find Tropic too bright, I like the fresh colours, but I'd
be keen to see some slightly less saturated ones :)

Keep it up Viper!

I fully second your opinion, but Linux and Ubuntu is about freedom. If
somebody like it, let him do it.

But I really think there is some serious problem with selected color
scheme, and psychology and horrible longterm user (and eyes)
experience respectively. Personaly I would prefer look after another

You're absolutely right... Mine was just an opinion to *improve* the
theme, not to criticize the community.
I'm with the idea that it's better a theme like tropic than a PERFECT

The orange and the green are very hard (even not possible) to
harmonize. In your place, I would tone down the colors significantly,
especially the green, and make it perhaps more pastel.

It might be that you misjudge the colors because of your LCD monitor,
which are very bad (at least the cheap ones) when it comes to color
rendition, because of this poor feature most graphic agencies wont use
them at all.

If somebody need a tool for suggesting and verifying appropriate color
scheme then he should go on

A combination of orange and green (on Tropic) is really totally nonsense.

Viper,
Your enthusiastic contributions are greatly appreciated, however, I
can't see myself looking at something with that color palette. The
parent's link to the color tool would definitely be a good starting
point to deriving a theme that is easier on the eyes.

God bless,
Lukas

You've all been waiting for this:https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Incoming/TropicI don't like this version that much, I have to admit. The blueish green doesn't really fit the brownish orange, and in the upper right corner, it's really hurting.
You're totally off your router's lights now, aren't you? :D Try a greener green (maybe even in a yellow shade), and also a more yellowish orange, bringing the colors a bit closer to each other, and then play around with it.
The green I really liked was the background on the gFlat screenshot.Furthermore you can see there: The far less saturated title bar does not hurt - the scroll bars on the right do. (... and the progress bars do, but that's another story ;) )
I'm really for the tropic theme, and I believe you can make it evolve into something fresh yet not tiring by giving you a feel like it was screaming at you.Play on, Viper! I think you've yet to find this theme's right way.
