[Bug 67848] Re: pegasus usb-ethernet driver does not work in Edgy
Ok, found the real reason: Kernels = 2.6.16 have a feature that checks whether devices can be given as much power as they claim to need. If there's not enough juice (like in my case), the device is not activated. So a feature, not a bug. The Debian bug I linked to is about notifying the user about this. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #380104 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=380104 ** Also affects: linux-source-2.6.17 (Debian) via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=380104 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- user is not informed if there is not enough power for usb devices https://launchpad.net/bugs/67848 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 63476] Re: Crash when umounting an NFS share
This is a work machine, so it has to be usable - as long as the patch didn't break my system (beta of edgy didn't, so I'm not expecting this to), I'd also be willing to test. I'll switch my personal machine to edgy when I get a chance, and then I can test it on that, even if it's an alpha patch. -- Crash when umounting an NFS share https://launchpad.net/bugs/63476 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 68621] [edgy] installing nvidia-glx pulls linux-restricted-modules-386
Public bug reported: I'm installing machines automatically, and the package list is preseeded. However, I noticed that the machines don't boot after the first phase, since the -386 kernel gets installed and grub sees it as the default kernel (and it fails mounting the root). The reason is that while -generic kernel gets also installed, nvidia-glx doesn't pull -generic version of restricted-modules, but instead the -386 which in turn pulls linux-image-...-386. I probably can work around this by explicitly adding linux-resctricted- modules-generic to the list of packages, but somehow nvidia-glx managed to install correct linux-restricted-modules-foo on dapper. ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- [edgy] installing nvidia-glx pulls linux-restricted-modules-386 https://launchpad.net/bugs/68621 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: base-installer * Boot Edgy Desktop CD on a Genesi Pegasos or ODW (you will need a vmlinuz-chrp.initrd kernel for this; see http://www.ppczone.org/ - also remove the BusID and UseFBDev lines from /etc/X11/xorg.conf once it fails, and startx to hit the installer. Genesi recommends using the RigidDiskBlock (Amiga) or MBR parititoning schemes as the Firmware understands these and they are most relevant to Linux. Neither of them are supported in the LiveCD, although manually partitioning using Alternative works just fine. You do not need Yaboot if you can install a CHRP initrd kernel using mkvmlinuz. Proposed fixes: * Detect Pegasos (it's fairly easy using info in /proc/device-tree) * Provide mkvmlinuz on install CD * Set boot loader to mkvmlinuz * Get rid of that warning if Yaboot isn't the required bootloader, and allow installation to proceed. ** Affects: base-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Edgy Desktop LiveCD install erroneously requires NewWorld boot partition (and/or Yaboot) on Pegasos https://launchpad.net/bugs/68626 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
