Re: [Bug 69912] Re: Icons in OpenOffice.org

2006-11-03 Thread Martin Kretzschmar
Which icon set are you using?

Industrial icons (standard for OOo running in Ubuntu/GNOME), the icons
are bold/italic/cursive As to avoid this problem, the upstream icons
(Default) should be localized as requested by you.

[Bug 69398] Re: Python crash during a session, I don't know why.

2006-11-03 Thread nzjrs
I am getting python core dumps in an application (http://www.conduit-
project.org) I am developing. This is the first time I have ever seen
python seg fault.

The same application works fine on my laptop and always segfaults on my
desktop. Both are running edgy, my laptop is a i915 chipset, single
core. My desktop is a dual core pentium 2.8

The application is threaded and also has calls to various other threaded
GNOME libs such as the authentication manager and gnome-keyring.

The core dump occurs in this code

self.keyring = gnomekeyring.get_default_keyring_sync()
token = self.get(%s_token % conduit.APPNAME, int, 0)
if token  0:
secrets = gnomekeyring.item_get_info_sync(self.keyring,
token).get_secret()
for i in secrets.split(';'):
j = i.split(':')
self.classUsernamesAndPasswords[j[0]] = (j[0], j[1])

If i remove this code the coredump goes away.

So is this a python gnome-keyring or a python problem?

John

[Bug 70026] Can't browse LDAP directory, yet autocompletion works fine

2006-11-03 Thread johanovanoha
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I've got slapd running on my server. I'm able to feed it with some data, get
those data back using ldapsearch and browse my directory with gq. So I suppose
there's
everything ok with slapd settings.

When I add this LDAP directory to Evolution as a new source of data for
autocompletion, it works as expected: when I type names/emails into
To/Cc/Bcc fields, I'm provided with personal data in LDAP directory.

BUT when I select this LDAP directory to see all contacts within it (including
photos),
I can't see anything.

Hmm, that's interesting. Our conversation widget inherits from
GtkTextView, so it seems like we should just inherit the font from that.
Unless we're overriding it or something.

I'm not really sure how gtk font stuff works, but if we switched to
using the document font, what would happen for people with gtk 2.10?
I guess we'd need to special-case it?

[Bug 69930] Re: popen() C call behaviour changes from bash to dash

2006-11-03 Thread pato101
** Description changed:

  I use popen() to send data to xmgr (the old Motif plotting app), but might be
reproduced with other apps listening to a pipe.
  The fact is that I want the xmgr display the data and the calling program run
after xmgr window appears, so I used to do this trick:

  file = popen( cat - | xmgr -pipe );
  ...
  fprintf( file, %f %f\n, x[i], y[i] );
  ...
  pclose( file );

  When bash is /bin/sh the code above works OK.
  When dash is /bin/sh the xmgr -pipe never gets the data and the calling app
closes randomly.

  When the is not used, bash and dash work (but the app does not go on
  until the xmgr is closed, so this is not the way I want it to work)

  Is this a dash bug or a bash feature? I cannot see if it is or not from
- what it says at popen manual page. I'm not a Unix guru neither.
+ what it says at popen manual page. I'm not a Unix guru either.

  I've work-around this with sudo dpkg-reconfigure dash so I can use
  bash as /bin/sh instead of dash and recover the old behaviour

[Bug 69945] Re: xubuntu should auto detect serial mice

2006-11-03 Thread davmor2
Many apologises I normally add a footnote at the base it is edgy 32bit.
It didn't detect a serial mouse at all but nor did Dapper I installed it
on my aging server just to see how it ran and I had to rumage around for
ages to find a way to switch on the mouse. It turn out that the correct
way is to change /dev/mouse = /dev/ttyS1 and psmouse = microsoft

[Bug 68364] Re: network-manager blocks my keyboard

2006-11-03 Thread Alessandro
...news...

Today to overcome the problem i tried to remove the cable when i lost my
connection. It doesn't work because nm-applet continued the network-
retrieve. So i tried this command:

sudo ifdown eth0

i received this message:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Desktop$ sudo ifdown eth0

So i killed nm-applet and re-connected the cable. It woked because using

sudo dhclient eth0

i had a new ip-address.

After that i tried to restart nm-applet but it didn't work

[Bug 67744] Re: Kontact crashs at startup

2006-11-03 Thread Stéphane Magnenat
Today I got the problem again, but before crash kontact displayed 4
times a Copy file box that was saying Copying event n of 22366 (with
n going from 1 to 22366). Of course I've not so much event in my agenda,
I even doubt that I've that much mails.

I suspect it is an upstream bug that happens when some strange state
arise in dimap resources. I'm also accessing the same resources from
another computer also running kontact and there might be some messing
somewhere. Nevertheless the fact kde pim is so unstable is frustrating
and kills user experience.

[Bug 70033] Update-manager does NOT download nor install softwares

2006-11-03 Thread Toufik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

Update-manager fails to download (and install) softwares from the ubuntu
security repository (and maybe others). Third party repos (beryl,...)
work correctly.

I launched update-manager from the terminal to get the errors:

$ sudo update-manager
warning: could not initiate dbus
could not send the dbus Inhibit signal: Did not receive a reply. Possible
causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus
security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network
connection was broken.

This happens when I click on the Install Updates button

apt-get dist-upgrade works correctly (hopefully)

[Bug 44407] Re: Samsung clp510 not working

2006-11-03 Thread Till Kamppeter
Your printer is not very well supported. The only way to get it working
are closed-source drivers provided on Samsung's web site (or perhaps
also included on the printer's driver CDs). This driver cannot be
included in most distros due to copyright reasons. It also needs often
special tricks to really work with the desired distribution. See

http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Samsung-CLP-510

I am currently working with standardization of printer driver interfaces
in LSB 3.2 and automatic driver download from the internet. This should
make live easier in such situations. See

HAL mounts my Cowon iAudio U2 mp3 player as a usb stick. It is a UMS mp3

[Bug 70036] Why it is not possible to transform an e-mail into a calender item?

2006-11-03 Thread Kuropka
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Dear developers,

while it is possible to transform an e-mail into a task it is
unfortunatelly not possible to transform an e-mail into a calender item.
Why? Many people send dates without using ICAL attachments. For such
situations it would be convenient to have an easy way to transform such
e-mails to calender items in a semi-automated manner (times etc. have
naturally to be adjusted manually, however the e-mail content +
attachments should be transfered automatically).

Thank you and best regards,
Dominik

[Bug 69986] Re: The applet only shows one mobile number and e-mail address

2006-11-03 Thread Mertl
Thank you for this fast Reply!

I'm using Ximian Evolution on my Desktop and my Laptop computer. Both on
Dapper 6.06.1.

On my desktop computer, unfortunately the contact lookup applet only
shows a greyed out edit box and a vCard symbol, so I can't use it and I
don't know what I am doing wrong.

On my laptop computer, I have contacts with lots of contact information. It
would be great, if the applet would show me all phone numbers belonging to the
contact instead of just the mobile number. And if it would show the applied
address, it would be very helpful.
At the moment, it only shows me the mobile number and the email address.
