REBOOTED AND THEN MOVED IT UP ABOVE ENGLISH LAYOUT. THEN, ALL OF A

Added bug number 73780 to changlog

** Attachment added: kdebus.debdiff
   http://librarian.launchpad.net/5215895/kdbus.debdiff

** Description changed:

+ Original bug report: bug #71967 kdbus crashes right away.

- This patch fixes bug #71967. kdbus is not usable in edgy.
+ kdbus segfaulted always on startup so it wasn't usable at all on edgy.
+ In order to make kdbus work again on edgy this patch should be uploaded.

Patch has been committed to upstream svn as you can see:

http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/playground/utils/kdbus/src/dbusobject.cpp?rev=605502view=rev
It is not released yet, though.

The bug was caused by recursive function which didn't properly handle
  memory de-allocation.

[Bug 73874] Some gxine preferences aren't accessible from the gui

2006-11-30 Thread Robert Persson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gxine

In gxine (in dapper) some preferences (well one at least) aren't
accessible from the gui and have to be changed by editing the config
file.

The example I have in mind is the default visualisation. It is important
to be able to set this to none because eye candy hogs cpu on slower
systems. I even had trouble setting this feature in the config file
because it took me a little while to realise that the options in curly
brackets were examples of what to put in the next line, rather than part
of an instruction themselves. I was also confused because only one of
the options started with an upper case letter, and I didn't know whether
this was a mistake or not.

All gxine preferences should be accessible from the gui, even if they
are hidden under an advanced menu.

Also installed a separate usb-pci-card and connected the mouse and kdb

I was able to install Solaris X86 6/06 flawlessly on the E521 (just need

Thats what I've done and have not seen a crash since.

Re: [Bug 3694] Re: Advanced ads blocking

2006-11-30 Thread Jib
It's a Galeon/Epiphany (they had merged, hadn't they ?) report bug. The
features request want Epiphany to match the AdBlockPlus features.

I've tried Firefox, with Adblock+, it's great, dispite I rather want a
perfectly OS integrated gtk application. Galeon is a gtk application, with
an unmatchable integration within Gnome (even with all the linux team
efforts). Yet Galeon lacks AdBlock+-like features. I merely ask for adding
those great features in the navigator with the bestly designed for Gnome web
browser.

By the way, thanks all the Epiphany/Galeon team ! Great work. :¬D

[Bug 73881] mdadm gives warnings on update-initramfs

2006-11-30 Thread hunger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mdadm

I am *NOT* using any software RAID devices, but still mdadm insists on
giving a warning when running update-initramfs: I am supposed to check
some config file.

I read the upgrade-Readme now (Why on earth do I need to read an upgrade
README for a feature I do not use?!) and managed to get rid of that
annoying warning.

Now I get another warning:
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.19-6-generic
W: mdadm: /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf defines no arrays.
W: mdadm: no arrays defined in configuration file.
W: mdadm: falling back to emergency procedure in initramfs.

I then tried removing mdadm from my system, but that is not possible
since lvm-common (I do use LVM!) depends on it.

So how am I supposed to quieten those warnings?

Best Regards,
Tobias

no, it's not in dapper. It should be though, but I am not sure whether via

(package needs to stay a week in dapper-proposed and needs permission from mdz)
or
ask the backports team to add it to dapper-backports.
Either of these approaches needs someone taking care of it, would you?

[Bug 69717] Re: [acx] failed to free tx buffers - maybe card too hot

2006-11-30 Thread neilius
I believe I've come to some sort of a solution with this issue. I
noticed that the card was sharing an interrupt with the USB controller
on my motherboard, and moving it to a different slot where it has its
own exclusive IRQ seems to have stopped this from happening. I haven't
seen anything in the kernel log since doing this and leaving the PC idle
for a few hours, whereas before the log would fill with these entries.
It's worth a try..

[Bug 72692] Re: It may be Brasero or it maybe Libburn no audio cd from mp3

2006-11-30 Thread davmor2
I have a feeling this may well be an upstream issue. Everything else
seems to work fine. Now on feisty with brasero 0.5.1. Serpentine can
still convert these files to cdda but brasero seems unable to.

[Bug 73888] It happens when uses firefox 2.0

2006-11-30 Thread jim
Public bug reported:

The program 'Gecko' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 118 error_code 8 request_code 146 minor_code 3)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

After install flash-plugin for firefox 2.0, It crashes

[Bug 73887] Edgy is slow and can't handle multiple apps well

2006-11-30 Thread Eric Feliksik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.17

Since I upgraded Dapper to Edgy, I'm having serious problems when I'm
running multiple apps in Gnome. I even consider downgrading to Dapper,
but I hope it's not necessary.

I have an Athlon XP 2200+ CPU with 512mb RAM. In Dapper this was great,
but now it feels like I'm running with 128MB; When switching between
apps, especially when there's also some CPU load, my harddisk is very
busy (as if it is swapping) and the user interface responds slow. Often
I had to kill firefox from tty1 because my load rose above 6.00. Some
other times firefox or GDM was killed automatically (See the attached
kern.log, Out of Memory messages).

Also see why did Ubuntu turn off kernel preemption in Edgy? at
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2006-November/022769.html
, maybe it's a related problem.

What can this be? Edgy doesn't need that more resources than Dapper,
does it? What can I do? I consider this a serious regression.

[Bug 72796] Re: Anti-aliasing-option in OpenOffice does not work, when Anti-Aliasing is turned off in KDE system settings

2006-11-30 Thread holmbaeck
Hi

I have the same problem (also running edgy). When using AA in KDE
OpenOffice menus and Interface is gray and blurry, and when switching
off AA it gets VERY edgy and ugly?

This was not a problem in Dapper. It might however be a problem with
OpenOffice 2.0.4?
