[Bug 78548] Logitech TrackMan Wheel goes wonky after upgrading (Edgy/6.10 updates)
Public bug reported: After upgrading packages due for upgrades my Logitech TrackMan Wheel trackball exhibits bizarre behaviour. The mouse jumps all over the screen, and button events happen at random (well really due to misinterpreting the mouse events I suspect). Switching to an acer mouse I had lying around, works for now, but I really like my trackball. I have previously noticed and reported (but to debian not xubuntu obviously) this behaviour when I was running Debian Etch and upgraded to the 2.6.17 kernel (and I think at that time that was the only change I made). So this could be a kernel problem, a suspicion which is supported by the fact that gdm in the console is also affected. [Bug 38181] Re: Screensaver freezes on Dapper (ATI Radeon 8500 LE)
I can confirm that this problem still exists on the edgy eft. I have a fresh install of 6.10 and am using a Matrox G550 AGP card with default xorg drivers. I get this problem when selecting certain screensavers in Screensaver Preferences. Most screensavers do not give any preview and instead hang the Screensaver Preferences window after a while. If this screensaver remains selected and is activated when machine is idle it results in a complete hanging of the system only fixed by doing a cold boot. Fortunately the screensaver can be reset to blank-only with gconf-editor. Maybe I have been unlucky, but the only screensaver I have managed to get to work is the FiberLamp one, although I have not done thorough testing. [Bug 44702] Re: gdmsetup: no error message when choice rejected
gdm (2.17.5-0ubuntu1) feisty; urgency=low . * New upstream release: - No longer close file descripters in forked process which shows dialog boxes since this causes the dialogs to not display any text. - Now GDM will recognize when the system default language has changed and will display new GUI's with the new default language. By default the /var/sysconfig/i18n file is assumed to have the language defined in LANG=foo format. The --with-lang-file configure option may be needed to specify a different system language configuration file. On Solaris, for example, it would be /etc/default/init. - Remove filter_watch after it is called for the first time. This filter is used to start the at_spi_registryd, but after it is started there is no need to listen to the propery any more. - Further improvements to gdmsetup to improve usability. (Malone: #44702) - No longer hardcode invisible_char property in glade files, instead realy on GTK+ default. - Fix so that the userlist is hidden properly when there are no users. - Fixes for compiling with gcc 2.95. - Translation updates. * debian/patches/40_tiny_manpage_fix.patch: - fix gdm manpage has not updated for the distribution changes (Malone: #18709) ** Changed in: gdm (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed = Fix Released -- gdmsetup: no error message when choice rejected https://launchpad.net/bugs/44702 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 78510] Re: file dialog cuts filename
Hi Alex, I am using firefox in Edgy. You don't need to press tab, autocompletion should show you foo when you write f if there is no other files in /home/alex that start with f (it does for me). Then, you write b and it auto-completes to foobarbar. Then you hit enter to accept this and the filename turns out to be just foo. Moreover, I can reproduce it also in Dapper just here in launchpad. Click in Browse in the Include attachment thing. The press Ctrl+L to bring up the Open Location dialog (in Edgy this is always shown). Then write Exa and it will autocomplete to Examples/ and put the cursor after the slash, then write k and it will autocomplete to kubuntu-leaflet.png then hit enter and it will try to open Examples/k . [Bug 78510] Re: file dialog cuts filename
Howdy manu, I can reproduce this, however I am unsure of exactly what the expected behaviour should be here, what would you do to change this, because in all honesty I cannot see a viable method of selecting past there without having to manually type in the next letter, which appears to work perfectly, as a result of this I am going to close this as will not fix. If you can provide a solution to this problem then feel free to reopen it, however I cannot see how this behaviour can be changed to select the correct file.. I continue to NOT understand why this bug is ignored and also why a simple workaround is not taken. We are not talking about a simple crash but DATA LOSS. This is even worse than security issue in certain cases, and the bug is 4 months old!
