[Bug 86642] Re: usplash on ubuntu 6.10 amd64 doesn't display 1024x768 theme.
** Description changed: Binary package hint: usplash + + I use ubuntu 6.10 on amd64 /etc/usplash.conf contains xres=1024 yres=768. And /boot/grub/menu.lst contains vga=791 for the 1024x768 framebuffer. But usplash only displays the lowest resolution of the themes. In my case, it is 800x600. I downloaded the source code of the theme and forced it to set the first resolution as 1024x768. And I copied it to /usr/lib/usplash and set it as the current theme. It could display 1024x768. But not every theme has source codes, and I think it is not a normal way to change resolution. A nomal way must be to change /etc/usplash.conf and /boot/grub/menu.lst not the theme's source codes. How can I make usplash display the 1024x768 resolution of themes? -- usplash on ubuntu 6.10 amd64 doesn't display 1024x768 theme. https://launchpad.net/bugs/86642 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 86657] update won't redirect 301 moved premanently the way it should.
Public bug reported: This problem seems to happen after installing things with Automatix. Perhaps when automatix updates the repository lists something unexpected happens because (I believe) that requests that return a 301 error should be redirected to something else. I don't know for sure though I think that I read that somewhere. Anyway, I hope that this helps. The problem just didn't happen before Automatix was installed and used. (never tried automatix before and I think it's pretty cool!) Thanks for all the work!!! I really enjoy using Ubuntu and think that it easily surpasses other distros in quality and community. [Bug 86487] Re: Restore evolution data with backup
I'll try the graphical import function and report back. Anyway, I've followed these steps to backup Evolution as usual: Step 1: Shutdown evolution and gconftool-2: $ gconftool-2 --shutdown $ evolution –force-shutdown Step 2: Create an archive with the data and configuration files: Note: To completely save the Evolution data and configuration, you need to save the following directories/files: 1. ~/.evolution/ 2. ~/.gconf/apps/evolution/ 3. ~/.gnome2_private/Evolution The following command will take care of these $ cd $ tar -cvzf evolution-backup.tar.gz .evolution .gconf/apps/evolution .gnome2_private/Evolution Now the file evolution-backup.tar.gz is the backup you want. Step 3: You can move the data over to another Ubuntu computer if you like, and just un-tar the archive while in your /home/username/ directory to restore it. -- Restore evolution data with backup https://launchpad.net/bugs/86487 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

In addition to having refresh problems with ATI driver as mentionned in LP 57156 vino provides only a way to control an existing session and not to create a new one remotely. Here is on current feisty a step by step reproducer: 1) update to latest version of vnc4server $ sudo apt-get install vnc4server 2) create a password: $ vncpasswd (enter any password twice) 3) modify the ~/.vnc/xstartup file so vnc starts in full desktop mode (uncomment the first two lines) #unset SESSION_MANAGER #exec /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc 4) run $ vncserver (wait a few seconds, you can tail -f the mentionned log file) 4) with the terminal server client open a VNC connection to localhost:1 (or localhost:X as mentionned in vncserver output) enter the password provided in 2) 5) you don't have a gnome session but just an xterm (and twm if you apt-get install twm) we'd like to be able to launch a gnome-session Note that any other vnc server besides vnc4server would be ok for me if you recommand one. -- vnc4server does not start Desktop environment after security update https://launchpad.net/bugs/78282 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 86659] Rhythmbox repeatedly displays Shoutcast title notification

Playing Internet radio stations—such as Club 977 Hits or 80s (URL for stations below)—show the title repeatedly throughout the playback of the stream when Rhythmbox is minimized to the system tray. [Bug 84724] Re: [apport] update-manager crashed with OSError in download()
On a duplicate of this one, I got the following information: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ LC_ALL=C ls -al ~/.update-manager total 8 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Feb 4 14:30 . drwxr-xr-x 38 martin martin 4096 Feb 13 17:04 .. the fact that the .update-mangaer dir is owned by root makes things rather more difficult to work around. [Bug 82265] Re: Printer output on wrong paper size
No change with the revised ppd file; no change with different printer output resolutions. I have no idea where that HWResolution setting is coming from! I have attached the full cups error log for a complete print job (Job 235), with the revised ppd file and the first job after cupsys restart. Test print was made from gEdit, plain text, one page, size A5. The default printer settings (in Ubuntu's printer manager) were for A5 paper and 360x180 dpi ('Draft'). The resolution setting has not transferred to the output -- the error log shows a final output resolution of 720x360 ('Normal' setting, I think). There is no possibility to change the print resolution from the gnome print dialog in gEdit, so I would expect it to use the default setting here. Maybe a dangerous assumption! ;-) Thank you for your attention with this problem. ** Attachment added: CUPS debug error log http://librarian.launchpad.net/6489920/cups-error-log.tar.gz -- Printer output on wrong paper size https://launchpad.net/bugs/82265 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 86666] Feisty crashes after grub if usplash enabled (amd64)
Public bug reported: Filing this under libx86, since this broke when that package came in, and I'm just guessing it has something to do with it. Feel free to reassign to usplash if needed. If starting up feisty with a normal boot line, ie. splash enabled, as soon as the splash screen should show up monitor just shuts down and a complete hang follows immediately - sysrq keys do not function either. Booting x86 version on the same machine works with splash screen, and booting with splash removed works okay. I've been seeing this on this feisty installation since libx86 came, and also now tried to boot from the amd64 (and x86, which works) Herd 4 live-CD. Didn't found any existing bug repot about this, so I'd very much guess it has something to with my nice buggy ATI motherboard (with which pre-dapper clock ticked twice too much without special options, and 2.6.20 had a cleanup patch until rc5 that made it happen again). ** Affects: libx86 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Feisty crashes after grub if usplash enabled (amd64) https://launchpad.net/bugs/8 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
