I'd do it for Feisty+1, certainly. We do our best to ensure we have the
latest versions.

Debian currently only has 5.10, but they'll hopefully have 5.11 in the
near future. As we sync most packages from Debian, we'll have 5.11
within a couple of days of Feisty+1 opening for uploads or the Debian
maintainer uploading 5.11, whichever comes last.

It's not a simple matter of saying fix ffmpeg. It is very inconvenient

we can't just move it to multiverse either. The obvious solution is to,
you know not use stupid proprietary codecs?

[Bug 91582] Re: Firefox 2.0.0.2 spontaneous crash while filling form, Beryl

2007-03-16 Thread Elias Aarnio
Hello,

I have tried to reproduce the crash but I have not been able to
reproduce it. Not when using Metacity nor Beryl.

I was typing text into a text box like this at http://forum.ubuntu-
fi.org/. The browser had been open for hours and at least 5 minutes with
the other open tabs untouched. I do not know what kind of refresh
intervals these open pages in tabs have. The crash could be caused by
some of these pages as well.

I have MediaPlayerConnectivity 0.8.3 and Wizz RSS Reader 2.1.7
installed. I have no themes installed.

About plugins (Finnish localization but I think it is understandable as
it is standard output):

[Bug 92746] wireless driver ipw3945 stopped working from 2.6.20-9 up

2007-03-16 Thread giacomoi

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20

WiFI was working fine with kernel 2.6.20-9 but stopped working with
versions 2.6.20-10 and 2.6.20-11.

A suspicious behavior is that at boot there are no apparent problems in
loading the driver. But if I type:

I get:
$ sh: /sbin/ipw3945d-2.6.20-11-generic: not found

I get:
$ sh: /sbin/ipw3945d-2.6.20-11-generic: not found

[Bug 12389] Re: Logging out on a LCD produces a fade effect that is not pleasant

2007-03-16 Thread Christof Krüger
What is the output of the following command?
 apt-cache show gnome-session|grep Version

Could you please make a screenshot? You won't be able to make a screenshot
directly when the logout screen is active. But you can do it by using Xnest:

1. sudo apt-get install xnest
2. gdmflexiserver --xnest

This will start a new gdm screen inside a window. You might need to add
a new test user first, because gdm usually won't allow you to login
twice.

[Bug 6366] Re: Please enable AAC Support in ffmpeg

2007-03-16 Thread Eugenia Loli-Queru
The obvious solution is to, you know not use stupid proprietary
codecs?

William, this is NOT a solution. This is not about creating a video to
watch on my computer. If that was the case I would have used Ogg/theora.
But I am trying to get a video on my cellphone. Cellphones use either
the very low quality 3GP format, or the better MP4+AAC. They don't
playback anything else. As you can understand, I can't do anything
about it, I can't change the industry. I need AAC.

the AAC libraries (faac/faad) would need to go to main

Please note that the problem is not installing the faac/faad packages. The
problem is recompiling ffmpeg with these options: --enable-faad --enable-faac
Without specifically recompiling ffmpeg with these options, having faac/faad
installed won't help.

[Bug 92748] Re: Latest Feisty Fawn Breaks Dell Laptop Intel Wireless

2007-03-16 Thread Benoit Malet
Hello !

I faced exactly the same problem yesterday with a no-brand laptop with
exactly the same WiFi card. (Intel 2200BG)

In fact, some of the kernel related packages were not installed (they
were updated this morning), so maybe it might come from inconsistencies
between kernel packages (some kernel packages installed and some not
installed)

I had no time to test WiFi after the update of this morning, but I'll
check tonight if the problem is solved ...

Regards,
Benoît

[Bug 92754] gtranslator 1.1.6-4 crashes

2007-03-16 Thread subadhra
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gtranslator

Frequent (3 or 4) copy/paste of tamil language text in gtranslator
causes the crash. Crash happens so frequently that i loose data many
time have to retype. Frequent crash also makes working with
gtranslator difficult.

[Bug 92753] apt should allow installing of locally downloaded packages

2007-03-16 Thread Alan Pope
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apt

I know I can do:-

dpkg -i foo.deb

However if foo.deb requires bar.deb and baz.deb it will fail to install
due to the dependencies not being available

I can of course do:-

dpkg -i foo.deb
apt-get -f install

Which will cause apt-get to go and get bar.deb and baz.deb from the repo
(if available) and install them, however this is not straightforward for
the new user, and isn't intuitive. It also means that a gdebi user needs
to drop to the terminal to complete install of a downloaded .deb file.

What would be nice would be:-

apt-get install ./foo.deb

Which would then calculate the dependencies (as per the -f install), rather
than having to use both dpkg and apt-get together.
This could subsequently be added to gdebi?

I see this often too, many times a day. I use IRC via
irssi-screen-ssh-gnome-terminal. So, I see the problem often when I
switch from my irc desktop and back. I'll see if I can work out a
reliable way to reproduce it.
