[Bug 122440] Re: Tex Live is not fully tetex compliant

2007-06-27 Thread Brent N. Stephens
Right, but texlive-humanities contains some of the files that had been
in texlive-extra. So if anyone is trying to do an upgrade from
texlive-2005 then it could very well break things. I had one particular
file that compiled fine with texlive 2005, but failed to compile with
2007 until i added texlive-humanities.

Not a big deal to me. I managed to find what I needed. I just thought
you might want the information. Now you can do whatever you want with
it. :)

2007-06-27 Thread David Portwood
Currently both version in i386 are:
sensors version 2.10.1 with libsensors version 2.10.1
So I assume you run 64bit ('uname -a' would tell us), if that is the case try
just 'sudo apt-get upgrade lm-sensors'
if nothing updates, then the build for 64bit should be upgraded, which should
be followed up with the package maintainer

We should take a look to see what is done to create the amd64 packages.

Apparently the problem is that Windows is a 32bit OS, so amd64 32 bit
Windows includes an additional layer of issues that x86 doesn't have.

Scott Ritchie was working on that upstream. Last September, he ran into some
problems getting wine to compile on amd64. See
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2006-September/051015.html. I

application allows online/offline mode management of your photos. You
can upload, search and download photos easily.

I'd request the software to be packaged for Ubuntu, so that users can
directly install it from apt-get or synaptics. The application is

[Bug 122492] Sound doesn't work on two plus sessions

2007-06-27 Thread Ryan Gordon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop

I have both ubuntu and kubuntu installed on my computer. I log into
ubuntu, mute the music, and then switch sessions. I then log into a
kubuntu session and unmuted the volume if it wasn't already unmuted. I
then tryed to play some music - nothing happened. No sound what so ever.
Solution: Log out of kubuntu, log back into my ubuntu session, unmute
the volume, re login to kubuntu and it worked fine. I'm not a programmer
for the language KDE/Ubuntu uses, but I think it narrows down to one of
two possible problems: 1) Kubuntu is unable to obtain access to the
sound driver to flip the option off because the ubuntu session switch
may have not released the lock on the sound driver (but what do I know?)
or 2) The sound drivers will only work when both are unmuted (so then it
may be a driver problem?)

Anyway, just wanted to report this weird behavior. I definitely want to
see the linux platform grow!

- put ipw3945 on a removeable drive
- save ipw3945 on the Ubuntu 7.04 computer's desktop
- Go to Applications then Accessories thenTerminal

[Bug 106864] Re: Feisty boot fail can't access tty IDE SATA problem

2007-06-27 Thread Jens Rantil
Hi, I am also experiencing this bug on a friends computer. I have tried
the break=top-solution and also the piix-module solution - neither of
these two worked. I should also state that I didn't see any activity in
the floppy drive that was connected to the computer. Since it is my
friends computer I can not give a more indepth description right now.

Knoppix boots up fine (kernel 2.6.19 I think).

I am thinking of trying to install Dapper and try upgrading through
internet efterwards. Maybe something that could work. I've also seen
someone fix the problem by swapping cables to the SATA harddrive(s) -
it's not very scientific but it's worth a try.

2007-06-27 Thread Tomcat
Sorry, but it didnt happen again. I downloaded the updates and it asked
me for a restart which it did and then after the gdm login, I got at
least 30 crash reports one after the other. If I knew there would be so
many I wouldn't have filed a bug report as I finally gave up.
Surprisingly It was showing crash reports for applications which I was
not even running.

yes I realised it too. Got at least 30 of them one after the other so
stopped immediately. It happened only after the reboot after the update,
subsequent logins are ok. Whats strange is I started receiving crash
reports of apps that were not even running.

Thank you.

[Bug 122498] search repos

Hi,

Would it be possible to add some synaptic-like features to aptoncd, so
that it doesn't just list packages in your cache but can actually look

add it to the list of packages available for copying to the CD?

[Bug 122500] Kubuntu - Mount dialog always gets shown when the disk is mounted, in the middle of the install

2007-06-27 Thread Sarah Hobbs
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Kubuntu - Mount dialog always gets shown when the disk is mounted, in
the middle of the install

This is the standard do you want to mount this drive, or do nothing
dialog, from KDE. Perhaps we should disable this on the live cd, and
just automount hard disks regardless? I cant really see a case where
you would *not* want all of your drives mounted.

I'm guessing this is a casper change.

[Bug 122499] Reports wrong URI for No such file or directory.

2007-06-27 Thread Micah Cowan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: elinks

In a file, obtained via wget (along with the relevant frame target
file), there is:

!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC -//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN
HTML
HEAD
META http-equiv=Content-Type content=text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1
TITLEfdoxnews.com/TITLE
/HEAD
FRAMESET rows=100%,* border=0 frameborder=0 framespacing=0
FRAME name=top

src=../searchportal.information.com/index.mas?epl=00440087UVsPWVALXVUMVV8FXAoeXQRDFRkAWlpHAGpcXAUGBFQM
 noresize
/FRAMESET
/HTML

The actual file in ../searchportal.information.com/ contains the
question-mark, literally as you see it. (Since the --convert-links
option was specified to wget, it was wget's responsibility to encode the
question mark in the frame src attribute; as the current maintainer of
GNU wget, I've made a note of this problem.)

The file whose contents are given above resides in
/tmp/www.fdoxnews.com/index.html. When elinks is invoked on that file,
it of course can't find the frame target (since it is looking for
index.mas, and not index.mas?epl=0044 However, instead of reporting
that it can't find that file, it instead gives:

Unable to retrieve file file:///tmp/www.fdoxnews.com/index.html:

No such file or directory.

This is misleading, as in fact it finds that file just fine; just not
the embedded frame target. This is confirmed via strace.

I will attach the strace output, which should be sufficient data to
confirm this bug.

[Bug 47158] Re: pppoe connection loses DNS addresses after the first DHCP lease renewal in dapper RC

2007-06-27 Thread Quark Green
Hello Stojance, I am trying to learn through the documentation you
directed me to. It's tough and slow going but I will try to keep at it.
A question in the meantime, I notice that pppoeconf and all the packages
it currently depends on are in the 'main' component of Ubuntu.
resolvconf however, is in the 'universe' component. Would it pose any
problem for a 'main' package to depend on a 'universe' package? As per
my understanding, a package in 'main' means that the Ubuntu staff will
ensure that it's stable, it works, is up to date etc. But they can't
take responsibility for 'universe' packages. So will that make ppoeconf
more vulnerable to 'break' in the future if the resolveconf maintainer
decides to make changes/updates to his/her package?

[Bug 112534] Re: KMix does not respond to XF86AudioRaiseVolume

2007-06-27 Thread Thomas Zander
Ah, KMilo!
That was disabled for some reason...

The result (after starting that service) is that the volume is raised
form 0% to 10% and it can go back to 0% when I press the 'lower'.

Well, its a weird button, really. Its a horizontal-rotating 'disk' that you
can turn, but it only has a small rotation angle. And when you release it it
goes back to the center.
So I guess its like a joystick. Hold it to one side and the computer should
continuesly increase or decrease the volume. Release it and it stops.

I guess that this bugreport can be closed and this misbehavior blamed on

[Bug 69059] Re: [feisty] wpa-supplicant crash

2007-06-27 Thread Reinhard Tartler
There are a number of issues involved in this bugreport. One is using
ndiswrapper. Recent versions of wpasupplicant and ndiswrapper HAVE TO BE
USED WITH the -D wext switch instead of -D ndiswrapper as you are using.
Please be sure to read the documentation in
/usr/share/doc/wpasupplicant.

Moreover, I have read reports that nowadays ndiswrapper uses ethX
instead of wlanX as interface names, this might be a problem as well.
Your crash is most probably related to wrong usage of wpasupplicant (the
crash itself is a of course bug a bug of itself, please file another if
you find out how to provoke/reproduce it).

Please check again with -D wext, and ideally, run wpa_supplicant by
hand. You have to create a config file for this (see
/usr/share/doc/wpasupplicant/examples for reference). Try to reproduce
your problem. If you succeed, please run wpa_supplicant with parameters
-dd, which will give you a very verbose output. That output explains in
detail what's going wrong, and I'd really need to look into it to say
more about your specific problem.

[Bug 114296] Re: running restricted-manager before installation can break system

I tested this on the actual live system yesterday, and it's not yet
fixed. The list is written, but nvidia-glx does not actually get
installed into the target system.

[Bug 114296] Re: running restricted-manager before installation can break system

2007-06-27 Thread Martin Pitt
pitti cjwatson: I just reopened bug 114296, btw; is apt-install restricted to
packages which are already on the live system?
pitti cjwatson: when I uploaded r-m, I only ran the script to see that the
executed apt-install commands are correct; however, yesterday I wasn't able to
check whether the script was not ran in the first place, or apt-install didn't
do anything
cjwatson pitti: it's not supposed to be, but ubiquity may be buggy there
*shrug*
cjwatson pitti: I'd suggest closing the restricted-manager task and reopening
the ubiquity task

[Bug 122508] Notes sometimes not closing

2007-06-27 Thread Repabil
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomboy

When I close a note in tomboy its window dissapear but it remains in
gnome's window list. As I click on it in the window list nothing
happens, right-clicking on it choosing close doesn't help. This has only
happened (though many times) to one of my notes.

It's hard to tell how to reproduce but to open a note and try closing it
because it only (as of yet) affect one of my notes and it doesn't happen
for this note all the time.

[Bug 122431] Re: Casper times out loading driver updates

2007-06-27 Thread Richard Birnie
I experienced this again this morning with Kubuntu 20070627.liveCD but
launchpad was down so I couldn't report it. On this occasion I saw some
further messages about 'ipw3945 could not read microcode'

I have since been unable to reproduce the bug so I can't get the full
text of the error messages. This suggests that the problem is related to
the ipw3945 wireless card in this machine. The liveCD gives no problems
on a different machine which has no wireless card. This is a Lenovo N100
laptop.

[Bug 121883] Re: [apport] ubiquity crashed with AttributeError in customize_installer()

2007-06-27 Thread Colin Watson
This is already fixed in Gutsy by removing the --old-partitioner
option. (It's true it was broken for the KDE frontend in Feisty, but I
can't do a lot about that now.)

Please file a separate bug about the lack of options in the new
partitioner; I'm much more interested in fixing that. Be sure to attach
/var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman from the live session after
reproducing it.

[Bug 122516] Display broken when changing resolution in gnome

2007-06-27 Thread Repabil
Public bug reported:

Sometimes after changing resolution in gnome display gets all messed up
either by showing fragments of former resolution or a blank screen. My
setup support the resolution I change to because I can usually use them.
This started happening after I added a second monitor for resolutions
below including 1024x768. When this happens sometimes computer is
unresponsive forcing me to power off to reboot or I'm able to
ctrl+alt+FX to a console and reboot.
