[Bug 174330] [Gutsy] Kphotoalbum - Remove Tokens 2nd Time not possible to choose

2007-12-06 Thread einfach
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kphotoalbum

Hello,

I use Kphotoalbum to index more than 16.000 photos.
For easy indexing I use tokens while the slideshow runs.

If finished i can delete the tokens from menu EDIT - REMOVE TOKENS.
There i can select which tokens to delete.

NOW THE BUG:
If go 2nd time in EDIT - REMOVE TOKENS all is greyed out.
So i cannot remove the remaining tokens.

How can I fix this?

also there's no need to add a new revision for the python change as it

Also I'd rename libccc-0.1-python to python-libccc. libdev is not a
valid choice for section, 'python' would be much better.

[Bug 147551] Re: cups-pdf fails to generate file

2007-12-06 Thread labinnsw
I have found a solution to my problem. Before I give the solution, I
would like to briefly describe what my problem was and how it started.

I had a working Feisty and upgraded to Gutsy. After that I could no
longer print to PDF. I read and followed the instructions from various
posts and nothing changed until last night. I found a post at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cupsys/+bug/152537 about an
unrelated matter. I tried one of the solutions offered there sudo aa-
complain cupsd and the problem the problem was immediately fixed.

It may or may not work for you. If it does work I would like to know.

[Bug 172264] Re: Ghostscript in Gutsy and Hardy is not able to print encrypted PDFs out of Adobe Reader 8.1.1

2007-12-06 Thread Till Kamppeter
foomatic-filters (3.0.2-20071204-0ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
- foomatic-gswrapper.in: Let Ghostscript always use buffered
input. This works around a Ghostscript bug which prevents
printing encrypted PDF files with Adobe Reader 8.1.1 and
Ghostscript built as shared library (Ghostscript bug #689577,
  Ubuntu bug LP: #172264)
- Allow the parameters of the *Foomatic...
lines which formerly had to be given without quotes also to be
given with double quotes. This is to support generation and
manipulation of Foomatic PPDs with the CUPS DDK. The PPD
generator of the CUPS DDK (ppdc) can create these lines only
  with quoted parameters (See http://www.cups.org/str.php?L2551).
- Bug fixes:
o If the CUPS-style duples option
 -o sides={one|two}-sided[-{long|short}-edge] was supplied,
the Duplex option could be set to 0, LongEdge, or
ShortEdge, which do not exist in the Duplex options in
PPD files (Thanks to Ricoh Japan for reporting this bug).
o Now all of LongEdge, DuplexNoTumble, or ShortEdge,
DuplexTumble, are converted to each other if supplied as
value to an enumerated choice option (usually Duplex) and
this value is not in the list of choices.
o Reset the best score for finding the narrowest page range
before treating each option, not only before the first
option. Now jobs with page overrides on more than one
 option are executed correctly.
o If an option had the default value 0 (enumerated choice,
numerical, string) in the PPD file, the first choice from
the list was set as default and not 0.
o When assigning a non-integer number to an integer option,
the %%BeginFeature: ... line of the option inserted into
the PostScript data stream still contained the non-integer
value. Only the value in the code piece was converted to
 integer.
o If a non-integer *FoomaticRIPDefault... was given for an
integer option it was not converted to integer.
o Boolean options had 0 and 1 as values in the
%%BeginFeature: ... lines and not False and True.
o PPD-supplied JCL/PJL options did not get merged with
driver-generated JCL/PJL options when there were spaces
between the JCL command and the = (ex: @PJL SET TRAY = 1).
o Now all of 0, No, Off, False or 1, Yes, On,
True are converted to each other if supplied as value to
an enumerated choice option and this value is not in the
 list of choices.

[Bug 113679] Re: xorg freezes when running openoffice

2007-12-06 Thread Tom
As long as we are still waiting for a fix for Dapper ... the following
workaround lindered the problem for me: I'm running a second X-Server on
:1 with a minimal WM (fluxbox) just for running OpenOffice within.
Originally I thought this way I can at least kill a hanging xorg process
without loosing other applications' data and my session each time (and
usually when I have a customer on the phone that laughs at me when I'm
telling him that I need to call him back later because my Linux box just
crashed :-)). Surprisingly enough, OpenOffice never made my :1 server
crash yet, and xorg is up since Nov 1, now. It's just a little bit
tedious switching between servers every now and then and I miss
copypaste. Well, I actually have no idea why this works ...

Before in Ubuntu Feisty, if the installation of the repositories version

Because of this very big problem, i think, for Hardy, that this MD5

[Bug 172264] Re: Ghostscript in Gutsy and Hardy is not able to print encrypted PDFs out of Adobe Reader 8.1.1

2007-12-06 Thread Till Kamppeter
foo2zjs (20071205-0ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
- Snapshot from Dec 5, 2007
- Added support for HP LaserJet P1005, P1006, P1505
  * debian/patches/50-buffered-input-for-ghostscript.dpatch: Let Ghostscript
always use buffered input. This works around a Ghostscript bug which
prevents printing encrypted PDF files with Adobe Reader 8.1.1 and
Ghostscript built as shared library (Ghostscript bug #689577, Ubuntu bug
LP: #172264)
  * debian/patches/40-path-correction.dpatch: Regenerated to adapt to new
foo2zjs version.
  * debian/rules: Added argument to make install so that usb_printerid
goes into /usr/bin and added arguments for new install targets.
  * debian/README.Debian: Updated, as source for foo2oak is supplied now
(LP: #173380).

2007-12-06 Thread Till Kamppeter
ghostscript (8.61.dfsg.1-0ubuntu2) hardy; urgency=low

  * Merge with Debian unstable. Remaining Ubuntu changes:
- gs-esp and gs-common depend only on ghostscript, not on ghostscript-x,
as gs-esp had already split of gs-esp-x in Ubuntu
- Upstream version 8.61 final
  * debian/patches/40_cups_filters_with_buffered_input.dpatch: Modified
cups/psto* filters to let Ghostscript always use buffered input. This
works around a Ghostscript bug which prevents printing encrypted PDF

[Bug 165093] Re: Not an Nvidia Bug

2007-12-06 Thread Abhinay Mukunthan
This isn't an Nvidia bug, since my backtrace is exactly the same when using
compiz or kwin-composite(kde3).
I'm using an ATI Radeon 9600 Mobility with the DRI drivers shipped by default
in gutsy. I've recreated the error deliberately a couple of times, and the
backtraces are always identical.

The best way to recreate the bug is to run Yakuake, and do something intensive
on it, such as running apt-get.
Repeatedly hiding and showing Yakuake is almost sure to cause the crash.

My backtrace is attached for reference:

[Bug 174351] interface: a description without a package

2007-12-06 Thread yecril71pl
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

After the update manager has installed the updates, they disappear from
the packages window. However, the content of the update description
remains and it still can be read except that the scroll bars are
inactive and you cannot switch the displayed tab. You can, however,
read the remainder of the text if you resize the update manager window.

[Bug 172322] Re: laptop not communicate to a projector

2007-12-06 Thread Dave H
I think there's another bug track on here about the sticking Fn key
issue. Thankfully I don't have that problem.

In Feisty I was able to use Fn+F4 to switch to my projector correctly.
In Gutsy, this feature doesn't work - I don't know if it is supposed to
or not. I got the impression that the idea was to improve the twin
monitor capability and as such the 'Screens and Graphics' option was
added in System/Administration. Have you tried to get the projector to
work from there?

I tried it, but it doesn't work very well for projectors. There's
another bug track on here looking at that.

2007-12-06 Thread Peter Wainwright
I have fixed this problem by REMOVING
/etc/udev/rules.d/65-dmsetup.rules. Now there are no stale devices, the
password dialog appears every time I insert the stick, and the volume is
auto-mounted reliably.

Fedora (7) does not have any analogous file and does not have any
problems with LUKS-encrypted USB devices.

cryptsetup (libdevmapper) creates the nodes in /dev/mapper itself. If
you let udev do it there is a potential for nasty race conditions (see
e.g. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UdevDeviceMapper).

You may want to check this file (it appears as debian/dmsetup.udev in
the source) to see if the symlinks are still needed, but I'm pretty sure
that you should not be using NAME=mapper/$env{DM_NAME} because it
conflicts with libdevmapper.

2007-12-06 Thread Till Kamppeter
foo2zjs (20071205-0ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
- Snapshot from Dec 5, 2007
- Added support for HP LaserJet P1005, P1006, P1505
  * debian/patches/50-buffered-input-for-ghostscript.dpatch: Let Ghostscript
always use buffered input. This works around a Ghostscript bug which
prevents printing encrypted PDF files with Adobe Reader 8.1.1 and
Ghostscript built as shared library (Ghostscript bug #689577, Ubuntu bug
LP: #172264)
  * debian/patches/40-path-correction.dpatch: Regenerated to adapt to new
foo2zjs version.
  * debian/rules: Added argument to make install so that usb_printerid
goes into /usr/bin and added arguments for new install targets.
  * debian/README.Debian: Updated, as source for foo2oak is supplied now
(LP: #173380).

[Bug 174088] Re: gnome-panel hangs

2007-12-06 Thread VijayR
Hello. This is happening on a development box, I'm loathe to install dbg
packages on it...I've subsequently discovered further information,
hopefully, you may be able to track the bug down now?

I'm using sawfish with viewports:
% cat ~/.sawfishrc
(define-special-variable viewport-dimensions '(3 . 3) Size of each virtual
workspace.)

And this bug shows up only if I enable window list to show windows from
all workspaces. So, the bug most probably is in that code, which
notifies the window list about windows on different workspaces/viewports
or in the panel/window-list handler which handles this notification.

[Bug 141001] Re: Large fonts in window titles

2007-12-06 Thread Robbie G
Hi all.

An update to state that (very) large fonts are also present in window
titles in Hardy Heron 8.04.

They are apparent upon first install but disappear immediately upon
changing Visual Effects from Normal to None in System / Preferences
/ Appearance.

Note. I can also confirm that, as mentioned before, very large fonts are
used by default on the Ubuntu login screen such that the boxes into
which I type the login and password are like a window to a font that
is 5 times larger than the box will show.

My screen resolution is (widescreen) 1280x800 and my display hardware is
as follows:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS,
943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML
Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

Hope this helps, Rob

RE: [Bug 160718] Re: 7.10 Gutsy does not load up without noapic bootcommand

2007-12-06 Thread lal2017
Leann,

Thanks, I will give this a go on the HP Pavillion dv6258se Laptop (AMD64
x2) and provide feedback. I have a number of colleagues with this laptop
series (dv6000) who are unable to use 710 Gutsy Gibbon. It'll take me a
week or so as I have to perform a 710 re-install as it had frozen, (as
it frequently does on 710), during a system update. After this
particular freeze up, 710 was not recoverable, requiring a rebuild.

There seems no Repair facility on the live CD, just Install only is
readily available. This means you lose your entire setup every time you
do a re-install if the system fails. (704 was actually stable and booted
fine once you solved the video incompatibility issue - Nvidia restricted
driver).

Anyway, will give it a go per your instructions below and provide
feedback.

Warm regards,
Raj Dhillon

The Hardy Heron kernel was recently uploaded for testing. We'd really
appreciate it if you could try testing with this newer kernel and verify
if this issue still exists. Unfortunately, the Hardy Heron Alpha1
LiveCD was released with the older 2.6.22 kernel. You'll have to
manually install the newer Hardy Heron kernel in order to test. This
should not be the case for Alpha2. However, here are the instructions
to install (if you choose to do so):

1) edit the file /etc/apt/sources.list and add the following line:

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy main restricted

2) sudo apt-get update
3) sudo apt-get install linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic
4) reboot and select the new kernel from the grub menu

After you've tested, please feel free to revert back - ie boot into the
old kernel, sudo apt-get remove linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic, and remove
the line from /etc/apt/sources.list . Please update this report with
your results. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 174119] Re: Unable to print to PDF

2007-12-06 Thread Till Kamppeter
labinnsw, which directory is your home directory? Is it the standard
/home/$USER/? Did you change the destination directory of cups-pdf
(default ~/PDF)?

Can you post audit messages in /var/log/messages and/or in the output
of dmesg?

Your problem is probably a duplicate of bug 147551.

[Bug 174283] Re: rm does not preserve root by default

2007-12-06 Thread K.Mandla
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: coreutils

The rm command includes a --preserve-root option to prevent the
accidental deletion of the root directory, but that behavior is not the
default in Ubuntu 7.04 or 7.10. According to the Ubuntu man pages for
  rm, --no-preserve-root is the default.

Reversing this default would help protect new Ubuntu users, who may or
may not understand the effects rm can have on the root directory. This
weakness, and the repercussions it has, is best described by forum
  administrator jdong here:

  http://ubuntuforums.org/announcement.php?f=153

Experienced users who need (for some reason) to remove an entire root
directory would no doubt find a way to circumvent that particular
behavior, most likely with the --no-preserve-root flag, or a variation
  on the command.

To reproduce this bug, install Ubuntu and issue the sudo rm -rf /
- command from a terminal. Of course, this should not be done from a
- virtual environment, or from a spare installation. :)

[Bug 174367] Driver can't drive G33 with 2.6.24

2007-12-06 Thread Loïc Minier
Public bug reported:

Hi,

hardy recently gained 2.6.24 kernels; there were was a long series of
cherry picks and reverts at the end of the gutsy cycle, in kernel and
xorg's intel video driver, see bug #151351.

gdm wont come up (the screen will turn off until I start the shutdown
with ctrl-alt-f1 + ctrl-alt-del and usplash changes the resolution
again) and I see errors in the Xorg log (.old) after a reboot in the
gutsy kernel. Will attach xorg log.

Bye,
