[Bug 162138] Re: [apport] package update-manager failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: SystemError in cache.commit(): installArchives() failed

2007-12-10 Thread Scott Severance
I've upgraded by now. I believe that this *is* an update-manager bug,
because update-manager crashed. Update-manager shouldn't crash if
there's a network problem. Besides, I upgraded from the alternate CD, so
any network interaction was minimal.

I understand that sometimes there's not enough information to find a bug
in a particular bug report, but blaming a crash on the network and
claiming it isn't a bug makes it appear that you haven't really
understood the bug report.

[Bug 154969] Re: kernel panic at boot with 2.6.22-14-generic

2007-12-10 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Hardy Heron kernel was recently uploaded for testing. We'd really
appreciate it if you could try testing with this newer kernel and verify
if this issue still exists. Unfortunately, the Hardy Heron Alpha1
LiveCD was released with the older 2.6.22 kernel. You'll have to
manually install the newer Hardy Heron kernel in order to test. This
should not be the case for Alpha2 which is set to come out around Dec
20. However, here are the instructions to install if you choose to do
so, otherwise just wait for Alpha2 to come out:

1) edit the file /etc/apt/sources.list and add the following line:

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy main restricted

2) sudo apt-get update
3) sudo apt-get install linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic
4) reboot and select the new kernel from the grub menu

After you've tested, please feel free to revert back - ie boot into the
old kernel, sudo apt-get remove linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic, and remove
the line from /etc/apt/sources.list . Please update this report with
your results. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 175368] Add Myanmar my-MM locale (needs Unicode 5.1)

2007-12-10 Thread Keith Stribley
Public bug reported:

Currently this package doesn't include a Myanmar (Burmese) locale. Will
the Hardy release include support for Unicode 5.1?
http://www.unicode.org/versions/Unicode5.1.0/

If so, would it be possible to add a Myanmar locale. A suitable locale is
available is available at:
http://www.thanlwinsoft.org/ThanLwinSoft/Downloads/Collation/locale-my-0.0.20071210.tar.gz
At the moment this relies on patching /usr/share/i18n/charmaps/UTF-8.gz to
include the extra code points, but if the main UTF-8.gz is updated to include
all the 5.1 changes, then this will no longer be necessary.

Yup. As I said, I did confirm that removing brltty appears to work
around the issue. I am reporting the bug because this truly is a
problem, even though there is a workaround -- you should not have to
remove a standard and obscure part of a default install just to get a
usb to serial adaptor working. What are you supposed to do if you
actually need to use brltty? And it did not appear that this issue was
documented in launchpad yet.

[Bug 155024] Re: I cant install Ubuntu!

2007-12-10 Thread Leann Ogasawara
I assume you mean that when the Grub Boot menu appears you are unable to
use your keyboard to edit the kernel command line? Did you try the
following:

1) Press 'Escape' key at the 3 second pause by Grub bootloader.
2) Then press 'e' (edit) on the buggy kernel entry, followed by 'e' again on
the kernel line.
3) Then remove the 'splash' and 'quiet' options and add the 'noapic' option.
4) Then press 'b' to boot.

[Bug 175386] [needs packaging] qpspmanager

2007-12-10 Thread karaluh
Public bug reported:

QPSPManager is a PBP File manager for Linux. It's intended to use as a user
friendly GUI to the known tedious pack and unpack processes of the PSP PBP
files, directory generation and further copy into the PSP, in order to execute
those binary files in PSPs with firmware 1.50.
QPSPManager automates this process to make it a simple task to the end user,
who will only have to select a PBP file and the PSP directory, leaving all
other tasks to the program. It also provides some other cool features such as
selecting custom PNG, PMF and AT3 files to use as an icon or background in the
PSP menu.
QPSPManager also allows the user to backup the savegames to the computer and
copy those savegames later to the PSP.

[Bug 175263] Re: cannot report to Razor

2007-12-10 Thread François Marier
Hi Marcel,

The first thing I'd like to know is whether or not it has been fixed in
the latest version of razor (2.84). So I'll backport the Debian package
for you on gutsy. Which architecture are you running on: i386 or amd64?

Cheers,

[Bug 175334] Re: Please sponsor ghex_2.20.1 to Hardy

2007-12-10 Thread Cesare Tirabassi
We still require interdiff for new upstream releases:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/Interdiff

Anyhow:

1) Typo in changelog (Standards-Version not Standart-version)
2) Current version is 3.7.3 not 3.7.2
3) Any reason to remove Sebastien Bacher from the uploaders list? Or is that
because he is not anymore part of the Gnome team?
4) You also changed the version of intltool (from = 0.35 to = 0.36)
5) There is still a lintian warning to take care of
(http://revu.tauware.de/revu1-incoming/ghex-0712100020/lintian)

[Bug 164972] Re: upgrade feisty gutsy ati radeon 9200 problem

2007-12-10 Thread Denis_AeC
I finally succeeded prforming all that ;-)

1°) Boot in single mode, add Option DRI off and start : OK ! Gutsy
boots normally, video is OK. Just a problem when session is started, a
popup opens internal error : failed to initialize HAL. Another problem
occurs when clicking on exit icon : the system freezes for 2 mn before
exit poup opens

2°) Boot in single mode, add Option BusType PCI and start : OK, like
in previous step, same video OK, same problems.

3°) A question : when I boot on Gutsy Livecd, I get the messy video when
the session starts ... but how the arrow icon for the mouse can appear,
be moved arround the screen while all the rest is mixed and runs through
the screen ? How can be this mouse icon independant of th rest of the
screen concerning the video ???

Re: [Bug 173517] Re: ubuntu gutsy 7.10 / compiz / second xscreen / no keyboard

2007-12-10 Thread huiii
i'm sure this is a bug, the keyboard should not be claimed. and the
other bug is that nobody who uses compiz on gnome seems to use keyboard
on second xscreen .. :)
but to be sure: your keyboard works on second xscreen when compiz disabled?
perhaps we should spam our bug-report to attract some attention on
similiar bug-reports... 0_O

marriouss wrote:
 Yes, I use GNOME (ubuntu).
I have noticed that the keyboard seem to be claimed by one of the screens.
So, if initially is claimed by the first screen, when I'm making the smplayer
fullscreen, then the second screen claims the keyboard. Until then (until
making the smplayer window fullscreen), even if the mouse is on the second
screen and I click on a window on the second screen, any keyboard input is
still sent to the first screen.

Another thing: the fullscreen thing doesn't work on totem player, but
works with vlc and smplayer (that uses qt, so it is for KDE).

[Bug 124528] Re: X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 171

2007-12-10 Thread Dan Straathof
I keep getting this error when using Synaptic Package manager in
Kubuntu, it shows twice then downloads and installs programs anyway. It
is irritating though, how would I fix this in my Xorg.config? Would it
have something to do with the entries for drawing pad etc that I don't
have? It seems to me that I tried to comment them out once, and then
couldn't load X, so just left them alone.

Does this setting trigger a Dynamic DNS client? Maybe your system is
hanging because it's trying -- unsuccessfully -- to locate and/or
register with a DDNS server for that Domain Name.

[Bug 124286] Re: Dell 600M with Ubuntu 7.04 (ubuntu studio) internal bluetooth failure

2007-12-10 Thread Brian Murray
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description doesn't yet
have enough information.
Please include as attachments the following additional information, if you have
not already done so (please pay attention to lspci's additional options), as
required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command 'uname -a' in your next response.
It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version
you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command 'dmesg dmesg.log' and attach the resulting file
'dmesg.log' to this bug report.
3. Please run the command 'sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log' and attach the
resulting file 'lspci-vvnn.log' to this bug report.
For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-related bug
reports is available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies . Thanks
in advance!

[Bug 175397] Nautilus stays open after logout

2007-12-10 Thread drdrewusaf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This bug is close to bugs 27109 and 54684, but not 100% the same. When
I log out, Nautilus stay running and it also consumes a lot of CPU
power. The only way to stop it is to log in, open a terminal, and kill
the instance of Nautilus causing the problem. Loging back in is not
problematic at all (not slower than usual, no crashes, no reported
errors, a new instance of Nautilus runs w/o any problems). If I log in,
log out, log in, and log out again, 2 crashed cpu-eating instances of
Nautilus will be running. It continues the more you log in and out...
