[Bug 178151] Re: setting /sys/kernel/uids/uid/cpu_share to 1 causes the scheduler to give most of the cpu time to this uid

2007-12-25 Thread dm
maybe the bug is caused by the line
se-load.inv_weight = div64_64((1ULL32), shares);
in set_se_shares in sched.c?
if shares is 1, div64_64 returns 132, but inv_weight is long(32 bit),
and only the 33th bit is 1, so inv_weight is 0...

[Bug 178525] Re: no available bluetooth services

2007-12-25 Thread Onkar Shinde
** Changed in: bluez-gnome (Ubuntu)
Sourcepackagename: gnome-bluetooth = bluez-gnome

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: gnome-bluetooth
+ Binary package hint: bluez-gnome

On Hardy Test 1 and 2 there are no bluetooth services in the bluetooth
preferences dialog under the services tab, making it impossible to pair
with my bluetooth mouse in a GUI like I did in Gutsy.

The services are however installed, and in a terminal, I had to manually
  do:

  hidd --search

  to get i to work.

Please let me know if I should provide you with some more information.

[Bug 177204] Re: Please merge xtide-data-20040203-3 from debian

2007-12-25 Thread Emmet Hikory
Just as a minor point, I generally prefer something like dh_install
harmonics*.tcd debian/xtide-data/usr/share/xtide/harmonics rather than
install -m 644 harmonics*.tcd debian/xtide-
data/usr/share/xtide/harmonics, or even the introduction of dh_install
and debian/install (at least in the case where there is no precedent
already set by Debian). On the other hand, this isn't wrong. I've
adjusted the Maintainer field for the upload.

[Bug 150109] Re: [Gutsy Beta] Black screen when resume from Suspend to RAM

2007-12-25 Thread Aaron Whitehouse
Hardy Alpha 2 behaves as Alpha 1 did. I'll work through the wiki page
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Debugging#head-0b6e9c6b60fa07cda4013a1c51239f1c14c4f89d

Disable Compiz (change Appearance Effects to none):
No change - C+A+F1 then C+A+F7 to recover.

Disable all power management (how? What do you mean by this?)

Log out of X, and log into the console, and try suspend/resume (or hibernate,
or whatever) from there
Again, I don't know the command to suspend from the commandline, but I am
fairly confident that it is X because I can C+A+F-key and fix it.

Switch virtual consoles and back (alt-ctrl-f1, alt-ctrl-f7 or f8 or f9)
As above, this fixes the issue.

If laptop, close lid and reopen
Using the lid-close button hangs my laptop Bug #138256

Attach another external monitor
Bug #156062 - I can no longer use an attached monitor.

Edit /etc/default/acpi-support - I will save this comment now in case I
lose it and then continue testing.

[Bug 178562] (Gutsy) when asked if u'd like to unmark the dependeny packages - won't unmark them

2007-12-25 Thread nowshining
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

when installing or looking thru to install, right-clicking an item that
depends on a dependency will when asked mark the rest for installation,
however if one then decides not to intall anything and goes to unmark an
item and asked whether to also mark/unmark those dependencies it only
unmarks the main program and not the dependencies, results equal to
meaning that the dependencies are mark for install even tho one didn't
want to install.

[Bug 178564] [Hardy]cannot log back into GNOME after you lock the screen

2007-12-25 Thread Pramod Dematagoda
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

This issue was marked as a duplicate of Bug #131679 which labels a
Compiz-Fusion crash being the cause, but I found that the issue still
occurs even with Compiz-Fusion turned off, that is with Metacity
replacing it, so the fact that Compiz-Fusion crashed may not be the
culprit of this problem and may be something with the gnome-session
package itself.

[Bug 159358] Re: Lifebook U810 hotkeys tablet

2007-12-25 Thread Nicolas Piguet
I just found something interesting when playing with my u810. When I
press the scroll keys (the 2 arrows right next to the pointing stick),
it logs the following messages in dmesg:

[ 1698.524000] keyboard.c: can't emulate rawmode for keycode 240
[ 1698.644000] keyboard.c: can't emulate rawmode for keycode 240

[ 1699.956000] keyboard.c: can't emulate rawmode for keycode 241

I don't really know what to do with that, but at least this confirms
that ubuntu receives the events somewhere. I hope somebody more
experienced will know what this means and how this info can be
exploited.

[Bug 132762] Re: [gutsy] Don't change UUID of existing ext3 partition when formatting it for install

2007-12-25 Thread Aaron Whitehouse
I also have this problem.

I have a testing and a stable install of Ubuntu. I have Gutsy installed
on most of my HD. It booted up correctly every time. Last night I
installed Hardy Alpha 2 onto the testing partition and left all of the
Gutsy partitions alone. From then onwards, Gutsy stalls on every boot
saying that fsck tried to check the disk with UUID [whatever] and that
it failed. One then has to get out of the maintenance shell. I have also
lost access to the testing partition since the install of Hardy.

Note that Bug #134763 complains about fsck failing with an error.

[Bug 95889] Re: rt73 wifi not working out of box

2007-12-25 Thread hendrikwout
I also have a D-link DWL-G122 C1 usb pen. The rt73usb.ko module doesn't
work for me at all, even when no encryption is used (I had a very
unstable connection ones with a lot of messages in dmesg and I had to be
really close to the access point). I switched to the driver rt73.ko from
the ralink site. That worked, but as mentionned above, it does work with
NetworkManager and I have to configure by command line. So every time I
put my laptop in standby and resume it, I have to reestablish connection
by hand. :(

I've tried also the windows driver through ndiswrapper. That worked also
, but not with the NetworkManager again.

[Bug 117044] Re: Unable to umount properly removable USB devices

2007-12-25 Thread Id2ndR
I have quite the same trouble :

- Open gparted and choose an external drive.
- Unmount one partition
- gparted will unmount it but it will be mounted automatically (maybe by
gnome-volume-manager)

Consequently, gparted won't succesfully work on this partition (it won't format
it by example).
To succesfully work on this partition, you need tu unmount the partition after
gparted did it using umount command.

[Bug 175703] Re: Problem with Korean default font Guseul

2007-12-25 Thread Masoris
** Description changed:

If you install Korean language pack in Ubuntu, Ubuntu will install a Korean
font Guseul which is contained in ttf-alee package. This font has big
problem. Run Character Map and select Guseul font, and click Han(Chinese
Character). You'll see Hangul instead of Chinese Character. For example
U+4E00 should be 一, but this font print Hangul 일 instead of Chinese
character 一.

Other problem is this font is one of default Korean font in fontconfig.
So firefox use it as default monospace font. It makes Ubuntu users
cannot read Chinese character amongst Korean scripts.

So I contacted with alee who made this font, he/she said he/she added
this feature on purpose, so it's not a bug. I discuss about this problem
in Korean community, some people Guseul font has problem, because it
print Hangul instead of Chinese character, so it should be removed
amongst package of Korean fonts. Other people said it is feature of
Guseul font, so it's not a bug. But all people agree with fontconfig
should be fixed and change default Korean font on Ubuntu.
-
- Mait(마잇) maintains Korean fontconfig, so I sent a mail to him/her few
- days ago. But I cannot receive a answer. I think he/she could not
- receive a mail or maintain this problem now, so I hope someone else
- solve this problem.

2007-12-25 Thread emvy
I do not have a TV card or anything special, just a laptop equipped with
a Core Duo, an Ati X1400 (driven by the standard VESA driver), Intel
3945 WLAN -- and I'm also having this problem.

[Bug 178574] Gutsy and Hardy - blank screen when installing - UniChrome Pro IGP

2007-12-25 Thread adam.widera
Public bug reported:

X server not running (blank screen after booting on Gutsy and Hardy Live CD's)
Everything worked fine in 7.04, but I'm unable to install the system any more
from the Live CD starting from 7.10.

Both the vesa mode or the standard installation one does not work and the
desktop does not appear. I can't switch to the console to get any bug reports.
The power off switch does work however, the PC shuts down and the Ubuntu logo
appears.
When in save mode appropriate dialog appears, that the graphics chip cannot be
identified, with the selection - so the X initially starts, but then when it
has to run the desktop - again blank screen no reaction, no matter what is
selected (even when nothing is selected)

The WinS3ID windows app shows the following info:

VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP
Chip ID: 3108
SSven: 1071
SSdev: 8889
HW/Loc: AGP 01/00/0
Chip name: UniChrome II Graphics

The notebook is based on Sempron AMD 3000+, 1.5GB Ram, 100GB Hdd, It's a
Hyrican 8889

Regards
AW

[Bug 178577] open office pdf export bad regional characters

2007-12-25 Thread dvh
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I create odt file in OpenOffice writer in Ubuntu 7.10. It was a Slovak
text with Slovak characters. I export it into PDF but all Slovak
characters are bad in exported PDF file. Instead of regular slovack
characters, there are charcters from Latin1.

[Bug 128313] Re: /dev/md0 does not exist. Dropping to a shell.

2007-12-25 Thread Mark Jackson Pulver
I've worked out the last steps:

sudo mv /boot /boot1
sudo ln -s /md0/boot /boot
sudo update-initramfs -k 2.6.22-14-generic -c -t
sudo update-initramfs -k 2.6.22-14-386 -c -t

I was confused because I did not have 2.6.20-22-generic, but guessed I
should used the latest one.

I can now boot from either one of the above kernels.
