[Bug 37239] Re: VPN connection should alter /etc/resolv.conf
Well, since recent auto-updates and some playing with Firestarter, wireless vpn connections work fine through NM. Disabling the firewall seems essential for the VPN connection to work. For wired vpn connection I use the OpenVPN config GUI, which also works fine. I could imagine that cleaning out resolv.conf contents is a measure to avoid accidential DNS calls outside the tunneled connection, with resulting breach of security. NB: I am no programmer either, just a VEP. i had this problem also. I managed to fix by purging esound, esound-clients, pulsaaudio-module-gconf and pulseaudio. After that I gave the computer a hard reset and ... as if by miracle, IT WORKS. Re: [Bug 178983] Re: no panel/status bar under live cd
The bug was closed as Incomplete, which I understand, and there is also this bug which I was informed about: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xubuntu-meta/+bug/70561 I feel like I should just go ahead and install from the alt inst CD. I may even go more minimal with fluxbuntu since this laptop has only 256 MB RAM. Actually, Windows reports 224 MB with their tool. Thanks for the help and concern. Since the LiveCD was TERRIBLY slow, I don't know how long it would even take to get the info from the logs and error files. [Bug 147250] Re: [Gutsy Alternate CD] Alternate install CD (both x86, AMD64) not booting on HP NX6325
Hello Leann, thank you for working on this issue. I just tested the amd64 - Alternate install CD Hardy Alpha2 two minutes ago, but unfortunately exactly the same issue - it just stops booting after loading the kernel, screen goes black, system is still alive (responds to Ctrl-Alt-Del). With my fb=false workaround, it boots. The NX6325 comes with a integrated ATI chipset (M200) with an Ati1150 graphics accelerator. Me thinks here is the root for this issue. [Bug 145683] Re: Network manager crash with WPA
As I said before, with the new version I still have this problem (but not related to wpa or suspend/resume). When the system boots I get right away 100% cpu and must kill NetworkManager. [Bug 154268] Re: Adding a New record dose not work
I've seen the same problem on Ubuntu Gutsy, MySQL backend, with the following workaround: Go to Tools - Preferences. Movie Details tab. In the Defaults area, make sure none of the drop-down lists are set to N/A. Save, try again. I think the reason behind this is because the various fields (media, condition, codecs, etc) are indexed from 1 in the database, but N/A has a value of 0 and it's tripping up an array index somewhere. (If you want an N/A-equivalent field, you can add it to the end of each list on the Dictionaries and Languages tabs). -- Adding a New record dose not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/154268 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 140511] Re: Belkin USB bluetooth device loads wrong module
I'm sorry to report that the problem still exists in 8.04 Alpha 2. The system seems to hang on * Loading hardware drivers When the Bluetooth adapter is unplugged during this hang, the pegasus module prints out a screenfull of errors and the boot sequence then continues. This is exactly the same behaviour as 7.10. It would seem that the pegasus module is still being loaded to handle the adapter in question. -- Belkin USB bluetooth device loads wrong module https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/140511 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 179047] user friendy monitor/tv-out hotplugging support: a display manager applet?
Public bug reported: Yesterday I got tv-out working on my laptop running Ubuntu Gutsy. It's great to see that display hotplugging is finally supported but to turn tv-out on and off I need to enter several xrandr commands. I believe this does not comply with the it just works idea behind Ubuntu. So I think we need a GUI tool to make hotplugging of displays easier than Windows or MacOS. Can we get something like a Display manager applet, comparable to the NetworkManager and Bluetooth manager, that notifies the user whenever a new display is connected? The user can then click on the applet icon, which pop up a window which allows the user to configure the new display (turn screen on/off, set to clone mode or extended desktop) for the current session. Limiting these settings to the current session removes the need for the user to have admin privileges, whilst allowing ad-hoc display support. To me this seems desirable, especially for laptop and other portable device users which regularly want to connect their fixed office monitor to work on, a TV to play a movie or a beamer to show a presentation. The infrastructure seems to be in place already: xorg/xrandr already supports hotplugging, DBUS can relay the new (and removed) connection notification to the applet and the window i mentioned could be the same as the screens tab of the current Screens and graphics preferences window (http://www.phoronix.net/image.php?id=814image=ubuntu_displayconfig_1), all though there would be two changes needed: * it does not seem to support tv-out (composite or s-video) as a screen yet. * opening this preference window requires admin privileges for it currently only allows changing permanent, system-wide display settings. I know it all sounds very easy and if I were a programmer I'd try to build it. Unfortunately I'm unable to do so. Could someone please help a bunch of Ubuntu users out with this feature? ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- user friendy monitor/tv-out hotplugging support: a display manager applet? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/179047 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
