Re: [Bug 63565] Re: kscreensaver shows garbage in dual screen mode in the area which is not 3d (opengl) capable.
Yes, the bug is still fully there. Tried this morning with Kubuntu Hardy updated recently (a few days ago). I tried it on a laptop Compaq/HP nw8000 (the same one I was using at the bug report time). Now the configuration of the dual head is changed (MergedFB is no more active, I had to figure out how to use xrandr). Furthermore, the screensaver GL i used for the test is almost unusable because it's extremely slow (if I remember well it wasn't so slow with Dapper), but this behaviour could be due to some other settings. The screen saver I tried is Euphoria. In the meantime I changed notebook but I still have the old one for testing. [Bug 136529] Re: Can't log in after upgrading
I had this problem after doing a fresh installation of Gutsy and then running aptititude dist-upgrade with a local copy of the Ubuntu repository. To resolve it, I uninstalled ubuntu-desktop (and everything that it automatically pulls in) and then re-installed it. [Bug 195703] [NEW] Thinkpad Ultrabay produces a fatal hang when unplugging devices on a T61
Public bug reported: My Lenovo Thinkpad T61 (Type:7664-18G; BIOS:2.10; AMT:1.08) completely hangs when I try to unplug my cdrom-drive or harddrive from the ultrabay on hardy alpha5 with current updates. They are, of course, not mounted. Normally, this should create an acpi-event which gets handled by acpid (?) (which was not the case in 7.10 - event occured but nothing happened; no crash). I recognize that this bug is not ubuntu-specific since it also happens in the vanilla kernel (2.6.24.x) and it should also not be thinkpad-acpi related since it does not handle the bay- events by default any more. I think the bug is in the bay-handler in the 2.6.24-tree of the kernel. I don't know what logfiles to post since my system totally locks up when the problem occures but feel free to ask me for some. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Thinkpad Ultrabay produces a fatal hang when unplugging devices on a T61 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195703 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 194013] Re: [Hardy] font rendering in openoffice not consistent with other applications
I investigated a little further and I think OpenOffice uses the same font for the user interface as normal gnome applications, since Use system font for user interface in the OpenOffice configuration is enabled by default (Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - View). It seems to have an influence which hinting method is selected in System - Appearance - Fonts. By default Best shapes is selected which means hinting is set to medium (if you click on Details). If you select Best contrast instead, hinting is set to full which doesn't make a visible difference to normal gnome-application compared to Best shape. But the OpenOffice interface looks now the same than gnome applications (if you restart OO). You can see the different of the look of OO in the two screenshots attached below. What I found interesting is that also the (default) document font is rendered differently, as you can see, to me the document text looks better from a subjective point of view with medium hinting. [Bug 121653] Re: [gutsy] fglrx breaks over suspend/resume
Shoofy, I understand your situation. Suspend/hibernation is a very complex function and highly hardware-related. On my own machine I have to do some hacks to make it work flawless. What I meant is that the problem mentioned in _this_ bug report is fixed. The problem here is that suspend breaks on all machine running Ubuntu due to kernel/driver incompatibility. So as to my understanding, if the work on kernel side is done, with latest ATI driver shipped, that makes the suspend/hibernation on some users' machine possible, we can close this bug. And I'm sure there's many other people's computer still can't suspend/hibernation with the latest kernel, then I think the best way to solve their problems is to *fill bugs for each special hardware* so they can talk with people with similar hardware and the problem would be handled in a more efficient and reproducible way. Like suspend doesn't work on IBM ThinkPad X60 or suspend doesn't work on Dell E1505. [Bug 195705] [NEW] Hardy Alpha5: Totem crashes when switching between streams (radio channels )
Public bug reported: Hello, I have some Norwegian radio channels which I listen to via the Totem media player. Sometimes Totem crashes when I switch to a new radio channel (stream). I normally use the Streamtuner application to keep track of radio channel names their URLs. Streamtuner also starts the Totem media player to play the stream when I select a channel. See picture picture_1: http://www.futuredesktop.org/images/gutsy/picture_8c.jpg and picture_2: http://www.edbl.no/tmp/hardy/alpha5/streamtuner.png The error is: Totem crashes when I switch from radio URL NRK Alltid Nyheter ( http://radio.hiof.no/nrk-alltid-nyheter-172.ogg ) to Kanal 24 ( mms://live.alleredge.com/AE_Kanal24_High ). If I restart the Kanal 24 couple of times, Totem will most likely crash and disappears from the desktop. It just quits without error message. Streamtuner is totally irrelevant here. So I created a tiny shell script that feeds two URLs to the Totem media player. It makes Totem crash repeatedly (every time). Here is the script: http://www.edbl.no/tmp/hardy/alpha5/radio1.sh Get it: $ wget http://www.edbl.no/tmp/hardy/alpha5/radio1.sh Run it $ sh radio1.sh Totem will most likely crash when the script sends it the URLs. The question is: Why does not Totem tolerate fast switching from one stream URL to another? This is a very tiny bug (if bug at all), but it still needs an explanation ;-) Additional information: Here is my streamtuner settings (files) with some radio streams to test with. Do $ sudo apt-get install streamtuner streamripper $ cd $HOME $ wget http://www.edbl.no/tmp/hardy/alpha5/streamtuner.tar $ tar -xvf streamtuner.tar Start it $ streamtuner # Note: Streamtuner is old and hardly maintained anymore. [Bug 195679] Re: pidgin does not have Save button to save browser preferences
It is indeed about pidgin. All online service related applications have a browser settings which specified the default browser for the application to use for opening links in the text. If there is no option for browser settings then the application might use the default browser of the desktop environment (which is set using preferred applications). Could you please update the driver to the latest version available, 169.09. This new version is a bug fix on 169.07 which introduced support for the following new GPU: Added support for GeForce 8800 GT, GeForce 8800 GTS 512 and GeForce 8800M. ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: hardware nvidia support -- Please upgrade Nvidia binary driver to 169.09 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195707 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I would think that the posts here are (other than status changes to the bug) to either help the developers with valuable info or to request help when you really need it but all your efforts like rtfm failed. -- [PATCH] Add STAC9228 DMIC support, SRU TEST CASE https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/153963 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
