It appeared fine in firefox and in eye of gnome.
I'd like to note that the svg appears fine through file - open or by

[Bug 72729] Re: mutt segfaults

2008-02-29 Thread Andrew McCarthy
Hi Tim,

Can you confirm which version of mutt you're using, please?

There are lots of problems in Mutt's bug list related to IMAP, so I'm
trying to see if there's a match with what you describe and what's
listed there. Can you identify any common feature to the crashes, for
instance, does it crash spontaneously when left at the message index
screen, or if returning to the index after viewing a message for a long
time? Perhaps when new mail comes in?

Finally, are you using imap or imaps to connect, and do any error
messages appear when it crashes?

Anything to help narrow it down would be useful. Thanks!

right, nvidia-xconfig (and aticonfig) should probably be dropped because

Khorne, if that's your new xorg.conf, make sure you have laptop-detect

[Bug 104978] Re: [apport] xrandr crashed with SIGSEGV in XRRGetScreenInfo()

2008-02-29 Thread Bryce Harrington
Unfortunately, Xinerama and Xrandr are fundamentally incompatible, and
there are no plans to fix this upstream.

For Ubuntu, going forward our plan is to simply push for all drivers to
switch to Xrandr. For those drivers which haven't switched, the xrandr
command-line tool will not support them.

[Bug 196904] [NEW] with compiz, wrong colors in the workspace manager

2008-02-29 Thread Erwan Loisant
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

This is with Gutsy, and the Human theme. I have an nvidia card with the
proprietary driver.
Compiz version:  1:0.6.0+git20071008-0ubuntu1.1

Without Compiz, windows in workspaces other than the current one show as
gray. This is good. But with Compiz enabled, they show as dark brown,
just like unselected windows in the current workspace. It makes it
difficult to tell which workspace is the current one by looking at the
workspace manager.

[Bug 25931] Re: Failed to initalize HAL.

2008-02-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package dbus - 1.1.20-1ubuntu1

---
dbus (1.1.20-1ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low

  * New upstream release: Tons of bug fixes, a security fix (CVE-2008-0595),
and two small new features:
- inotify support (to replace previous dnotify implementation); can be
  disabled with configure switch if it causes trouble
- Add matching support for program binaries in dbus policy rules.
  * Merge with Debian unstable; remaining changes:
- debian/patches/81-session.conf-timeout.patch: Raise the service startup
  timeout from 25 to 60 seconds. It may be too short on the live CD with
  slow machines.
- Add consolekit (= 0.2.3-3ubuntu2) dependency, which provides
  pam_console compatible stamps in /var/run/console. This keeps
  at_console policies working until we get rid of them completely.
  (See policykit-integration spec)
- debian/dbus.{postinst,prerm}: Do not restart dbus on upgrades, since it
  breaks too many applications. Instead, trigger a reboot required
  notification. Since this cancels the postinst early, add an explicit
  update-rc.d call to the symlink migration.
- debian/rules: Do not install /etc/X11/Xsession.d/75dbus_dbus-launch, we
  do not need it for Gnome, KDE, and XFCE, and it causes trouble.
  (LP #62163)
- debian/dbus.preinst: Remove obsolete conffile
  /etc/X11/Xsession.d/75dbus_dbus-launch on upgrades. This needs to be
  kept until after Hardy's release.
  * Debian's forceful way of RC symlink migration should finally fix all the
previous upgrade issues with wrong priorities. (LP: #25931)

dbus (1.1.20-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Loic Minier ]
  * Forcefully remove old init script symlinks on upgrades to this version to
properly reinstall the init script when using insserv or file-rc; thanks
Petter Reinholdtsen; closes: #466503.

  [ Michael Biebl ]
  * New upstream release.

dbus (1.1.4-1) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Loic Minier ]
  * Merge patch from Ubuntu to build a devhelp file; thanks Martin Pitt;
closes: #454142.
- Build-dep on xsltproc.
- New patch, dbus-1.0.1-generate-xml-docs, enables generation of XML docs
  which serve as source for the devhelp generation.
- Add a XSLT file from the Fedora package, debian/doxygen_to_devhelp.xsl.
- Generate the devhelp file from the XML files thanks to the XSL file via
  xsltproc in build/dbus-1-doc::.
- Install the devhelp index in dbus-1-doc and move the HTML documentation
  around; add a symlink from the gtk-doc dir.
  * Misc smallish whitespace cleanups.
  * Start dbus at runlevel priority 12 and stop at priority 88. This
eliminates the race condition of starting the X session before hal is
running. Migrate rc?.d symlinks from 20 to 12/88 on upgrades. This need
to be kept until after lenny is released.
  * Set LSB Default-Stop section to 1 and only install a shutdown script for
runlevel 1 to only stop dbus when going down to single user mode; dbus can
simply be killed like everything else on shutdown or reboot by sendsigs;
drop rc0 and rc6.d symlinks on upgrades.
  * Bump up dbus-x11 conflicts/replaces to 1.1.2 to match the transition
version in Ubuntu and reduce the delta.
  * Cleanup trailing whitespace.
  * Drop superfluous exit 0 at the end of dbus' init script which is set -e.
  * Add ${shlibs:Depends} to libdbus-1-dev.
  * Simplify dbus.postinst.
  * Rename patch dbus-1.0.1-generate-xml-docs to
10_dbus-1.0.1-generate-xml-docs to reflect current patch stack order.
  * Set shlibs via DEB_DH_MAKESHLIBS_ARGS_ALL instead of libdbus-1-3.shlibs
and extract libdbus-1-3 package name from control to avoid hardcoding the
SONAME and package name.

  [ Michael Biebl ]
  * New upstream release.
  * Deprecate the ENABLED option and remove it from /etc/default/dbus. Print a
warning message in the init script if this option is still used.
  * debian/patches/03_uuid_nul.patch
- Removed, merged upstream.
  * debian/patches/04_dbus_launch.patch
- Removed, merged upstream.
  * debian/control
- Bump Standards-Version to 3.7.3. No further changes required.
  * debian/dbus.init
- Fix LSB init header. Use $remote_fs instead of $local_fs as the
  daemon requires /usr to be mounted.
  Remove S from Should-Stop. (Closes: #459473)
- Use mountpoint to check if /proc is mounted. (Closes: #458392)
- Decrease retry-time to 5 secs on stop. (Closes: #462182)

[Bug 128556] Re: Novatel 3G/GPRS card not detected in Gutsy

2008-02-29 Thread c3101
I've got a new Dell Latitude D830, also with a built in Novatel Wireless
HSDPA Modem.

Gutsy did not pick up the hardware

I had to fix it by supplying the usbserial module with some info:

modprobe usbserial vendor=0x413c product=0x8137

There after it created /dev/ttyUSB[01], and the modem works fine.

ban), user ignore, and SHORT PREVIEWS!!! This guy inserts several

[Bug 42731] Re: MULTIHEAD SUPPORT META BUG

2008-02-29 Thread Bryce Harrington
Closing this bug because by and large the new xrandr capabilities take
care of all the multi-head issues.

Not all drivers use xrandr currently - binary drivers in particular.
However, all the major drivers do. There are some limitations such as
needing to specify Virtual options for -intel, but these issues are
reported separately already.

Configuration can now be done using either the xrandr command-line
utility or in the xorg.conf file. In addition, we're anticipating
having a GUI to do this, by either Hardy or Hardy+1.

[Bug 52899] Re: Doesn't display lines starting From correctly in mbox

2008-02-29 Thread Andrew McCarthy
There's a good summary of this problem here:
http://homepages.tesco.net/~J.deBoynePollard/FGA/mail-mbox-formats.html

There are several different, and unfortunately incompatible, mbox
formats. Some of them escape From and some of them don't. You also
can't reliably tell which you've got, and mutt seems to make use of the
Content-length header if it's there. There's a lengthy discussion of
this at http://dev.mutt.org/trac/ticket/714

Unless this has been causing trouble, I wouldn't worry too much about
it. And if it is, I'd switch to Maildir entirely! The mutt bug has been
open for 7 years, and the discussion is still going on!

[Bug 192579] Re: shares-admin sometimes doesnt synch with smb.conf

2008-02-29 Thread Assid
My first post includes a way to reproduce.
The first time you do it. it works. Next time if you go back to shares-admin,
henceforth it will just ignore all changes.

The first time being- first time since you logged into the system and
started shares-admin and first quit after that.

[Bug 174199] Re: No sound with soundcard NVidia CK804

Hi!

I have now realized that the problem was the complexity of alsamixer and

the text-based alsamixer. When I unmuted the IEC958 in alsamixer and
fiddled with the volumes for a while I managed to get the sound working
properly.

[Bug 196911] Re: I get endless autostart windows when i plug in my digicam in the front usb pannel

Additions based on the original reporters stay on #kubuntu: He tried
also with a back panel usb port, and it worked ok there. Attached is
his pastebinned dmesg from the time the camera was solidly attached to

port to me, and not like a software bug in Kubuntu.

Well, for me this was during Gutsys development.

For Hardy it has never failed but a big but... it takes

Just noticed that for newbies this is indeed confusing
and also annoying for an experienced user which directly wants to kill GDM
from tty and reinstall a dirty driver from nVidia(or ATI)

[Bug 194523] Re: computer frozen

2008-02-29 Thread Gert Kulyk
You should _uninstall_ the compat-linux-wireless drivers, not reinstall
them. Please get rid of these drivers before you do anything else.

Hardy kernel already includes the b43 and b43legacy drivers, there is no need
for recompiling them from the package prepared by linuxwireless.org. The
sources on the linuxwireless.org-site are meant for people who are running a
pre-2.4.24 kernel and/or are driver-developers, they are updated frequently so
one version may work, another not. If you are not a driver-developer (and I'm
rather sure you are not;-)), you should not use them on hardy-kernel.
The Versions in 2.6.24 are needing other firmware-version than the ones
upstream, so b43-fwcutter from hardy cannot help you in getting to work the
compat-linux-wireless drivers, only the ones included in hardy default kernel.
b43-fwcutter package is only for installing the needed firmware, it should call
/usr/share/b43-fwcutter/install_bcm43xx_firmware.sh on installation, which
results in two new directories in /lib/firmware: b43 and b43legacy. If you've
installed the package but there are no such directories in the given place,
you'll need to run the script as root manually.
