[Bug 230878] Re: Apache 2 produces an OOM after 4 hours using
Memory test ? If you mean by this checking th integrity of the physical memory, I don't think this is where the problem is because I tryied to change my machine keeping the hard drives and the data and it didn't changed anything... :( So maybe it's related with apache but not apache itself ? Maybe it's my configuration ? Maybe it's php ? I don't know where to start, I don't have any clue appart from the fact that it's happening only when apache is running... :( I can run a memory test, just to see, but I don't think it'll be relevant. Other ideas / tracks ? Again, thank you so much for the interest you give to my problem, I'm very greatful. -- Apache 2 produces an OOM after 4 hours using https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/230878 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to apache2 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 205111] Re: likewise-open service does not start automatically
- note all my above comments refer to this situation a. boot up ubuntu 8.04 b. log in as a local user c. at the desktop can see likewise-winbindd did start up at system start if I pull up a terminal and sudo /etc/init.d/likewise-open status d. then use the likewise-open-gui to join my PC to a domain Weird things happen on my desktop (see above). syslog (daemon log) is flooded with warnings (see above). I did some further testing: a. boot up ubuntu 8.04 b. log in as local user c. at the desktop can see likewise-winbindd did start up at system start if I pull up a terminal and sudo /etc/init.d/likewise-open status d. then open a terminal window and use the likewise-open-cli to join my PC to a domain Same weird things happen on my desktop Now maybe so far my problem is a user problem - not knowing how to use likewise-open properly. Because in all the above scenarios I had never been able to log in to the domain from the ubuntu gui (gdm) screen. Always failed. All I knew was that likewise-winbindd was running and thought that was all was needed. I did some further reading and testing: a. boot up ubuntu 8.04 b. at the gdm GUI login screen I CTRL-ALT-F1 to a cli session. c. in that cli session I initiated a likewise-open-cli domain join. Enter user password - SUCCESS d. then CTRL-ALT-F7 back to the gdm login screen and log in with [EMAIL PROTECTED] and get a successful domain user log on. Here I notice: - I have a new desktop as if a first time user. My home directory is /home/DOMAIN/user (not /home/user) - Everything works nicely. I see all the domain servers and PC's in PlacesNetwork - No problem with the logfile getting flooded with warning messages. - When I log out no hangs or problems. Wooohoo!!! So Sweet! Very slick. Very nice. So I am wondering now if the problems I have in the first scenario (logged in as local user - using likewise-open CLI or GUI commands to then join domain) - is because I am doing the wrong thing? Should I be able to do this? Or am I using likewise-open incorrectly if I do that? In summary: Likewise-open only works properly for me when (as well as having likewise-winbindd daemon running) I first drop to a command prompt and join to the domain BEFORE I log in at the gdm GUI (and perhaps that is how its supposed to work??) -- likewise-open service does not start automatically https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/205111 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to likewise-open in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 59926] Re: DHCP recognizes LAN only minutes after plugging cable
Sorry, I've had some intermittent hardware failure and was otherwise busy. I've switched to Hardy now, and there the system behaves as the user expects. I believe this comes from the switch to dhcdbd, i.e. DBus is driving DHCP and immediately started/stopped each time a particular interfaces goes up or down. In previous distributions, dhclient lived completely on its own, sleeping for long time before bothering to check whether something had changed in between. Thus on one hand, you can treat the problem as fixed. On the other hand, Dapper is still a supported platform, where the problem exists. But I don't know what the Ubuntu development guidelines say about fixing problems in an old distribution. For Dapper: Does it work if roaming is turned on? I'm not aware of any roaming with Dapper. Does this seem to affect a particular network card? No, because the new hardware behaves the same when booting Dapper. What is the DHCP server? I found no mention of it in /var/log/ or the lease file. [Bug 214556] Re: [Hardy] Can't share files
I have been using ubuntu for years now. I have had an interesting experience with Hardy and file sharing. My home network if fairly complicated - I have a seanix pentium 4 1.5gb ram dual harddrive which dual boots xp / ubuntu. My new desktop = dell amd dual core 2gb ram dual boot vista/ubuntu. I have an old sony vaio laptop with ext cdrom, running ubuntu. My wife has a lenovo laptop running xp and a dell desktop running vista home premium. Needless to say I have spent days, weeks, maybe months keeping everything working over the last several years with each upgrade - I am a ubuntu junky. The old desktop(Seanix) has been my file server for the rest of the house actually running xp with ubuntu 7.10(most recently) in a vmware virtual machine as the actual file server - lastest version all working well was gutsy. By working well, I mean every computer had access to our photos and music and movie collection with no password and my wife and I both had home folders available on all the machines with password protection. The only reason my server ran xp with virtual ubuntu was my old printer wouldn't work with ubuntu, nor would my scanner. My printer broke so I got a new one, I got a new scanner -carefully choosen to work with linux. So now is the time to get rid of the last of windows. I downloaded hardy heron i386 desktop and burned one cd. I installed it on my newer Dell desktop to try it out. Printer, scanner work and share. File sharing works out of the box. All looks great. So I use the same install cd on the Seanix, Install hardy heron on its own partition with a separate partition for the home folder. AND file sharing is broken. Non of the folders are shared properly, even the ubuntu machines don't share well any more. I got all of the error messages about net usershare = permission denied etc. I learned about net usershare.I edited my smb.conf(repeatedly) I did the logout/login and even reboot suggestions and still NO proper sharing. I tried all combinations of sharing options after R clicking nautilus folders. There seemed no rhyme or reason to what happened. Allow guest = still need password, no guest - everyone had access to my home folder. It is interesting that some users install hardy and everything works out of the box. Other install hardy and have a nightmare with sharing. I have had both - the only difference being the machine that I installed hardy on. I am not a computer expert, but I hope that this information gets into the hands of someone who can make some sense of it. I have now reinstalled Gutsy on the Seanix - file server and my home network is back to HAPPY with all working well. I would be pleased to send any specific information about the machines, installation, or anything else if someone with the knowhow can help sort out this problem. I am now windows free but would like to have hardy running on all my machines. Thanks for your patience with this long post - I hope that it helps ubuntu and hardy improve. swells5 is online now Report Post Edit/Delete Message -- [Hardy] Can't share files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214556 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I tried the following telnet clients: - telnet from the console - putty for linux (GUI) - run telnet from cmd within a VM. Tried both VMWare and VirtualBox. Why this happens? [Bug 232420] [NEW] allows passwordless SYSDBA login
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: Binary package hint: firebird2.0-super See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=481389 and http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2008-1880 The init.d script exports ISC_PASSWORD into the environment before starting fbguard. fbguard itself spawns fbserver process without cleaning environment. fbserver uses ISC_PASSWORD from the environment when remote connection does not supply a password. This makes it possible to connect remotely as SYSDBA user without giving a password. That last part is already fixed in upstream CVS HEAD, but backporting the change is reported to be non-trivial. [Bug 232430] [NEW] Rhythmbox crashes GDM session changing between songs
Public bug reported: Rhythmbox crashes all the GDM session, closing all the X when changing between songs. This *only happens if you are on another X session*. I suspect the new ubuntu changes the device permissions because you are on other X session. When rhythmbox ends playing songs, closes and opens the device, so the permissions get noticed, and crashes, and all the GDM session too!!! I'm using directly the alsa device on sound properties, because with pulseaudio I don't get any sound on my speakers. Just after boot I can get it to work, but it ends not working. With pulseaudio this doesn't happens, the sound get muted instantly on the change. Steps to reproduce: 1. On System-Preferences-sound Select your sound device directly, not Autodetect or Pulseaudio. 2. Open rhythmbox, play a song 3. Open a new X session with another user 4. Wait to the song to finish. [Bug 232432] [NEW] Slide names reset to default on next launch if saved as Powerpoint.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org OpenOffice.org Presentation v2.4.0 openoffice.org-core1:2.4.0-3ubuntu6, Tue Apr 22, 02:27:09 UTC 2008 Hardy Heron 8.04 1) Create new presentation with several slides. 2) Name some or all slides from the default of 'Slide n' to any text string. 3) Save as Microsoft Powerpoint 97/2000/XP .ppt format, and quit Impress. 4) Launch Impress and open presentation. 5) All slides have reverted to 'Slide n' names. This does NOT happen when saved as .odp file. Slide names imported from an original Powerpoint file are displayed correctly, but lost as above if re-saved after editing. Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 AMD64 version. Same here as well. I also use evolution exchange for my work email account. As soon as I start typing a new message, one core of my 4200 X2 CPU goes to 100%. [Bug 232341] Re: seq24 sequencer does not loop or send events
Could you add step by step reproduction instructions so I can test this on my 32bit Ubuntu Hardy system? Also please add (at least) this information): - What synth(s) did you hook up to Seq24? - Did you create jack midi connections for Seq24 the synth(s) and did you use an external tool to draw the connections? - We're all apps started without any parameters? - Was Seq24 also installed from the Hardy repository and what version was it? - What does not play through loops actually mean? Does it seem to be playing (in the GUI) but no events are sent or no sound is heard from the synth(s)? [Bug 232435] [NEW] middle-clicking URL keeps focus on the URL bar
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0 I'm using 3.0 on Hardy. When you enter some text on the URL bar and open one item from the dropdown list to a new tab, the result differs depending on the method you follow: -If you press alt+enter, the focus is given back to the page itself so pressing down scrolls down the page. -If you middle-click the item, the URL bar retains the focus so pressing down just brings the dropdown list again. Of course, you can only notice it after returning to the OLD tab. In the newly created tab the page always has the focus. ** Affects: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- middle-clicking URL keeps focus on the URL bar https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/232435 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
