[Bug 227464] Re: PHP 5.2.6 fixes important security bugs

2008-06-03 Thread Dustin Kirkland
These are the security fixes as shown in the current changelog at:
http://www.php.net/ChangeLog-5.php

I chased down the CVS commit log messages against 5_2 for each of these.
Most of the fixes look relatively compact, with the exception of the
last, which is comparatively huge.

Version 5.2.6
01-May-2008
  * Security Fixes
  * Fixed possible stack buffer overflow in FastCGI SAPI.
(Andrei Nigmatulin)
  * http://marc.info/?l=php-cvsm=120721829703242w=2
  * Properly address incomplete multibyte chars inside
escapeshellcmd() (Ilia, Stefan Esser)
  * http://marc.info/?l=php-cvsm=120579496007399w=2
  * Fixed security issue detailed in CVE-2008-0599. (Rasmus)
  * http://marc.info/?l=php-cvsm=120415902925033w=2
  * Fixed a safe_mode bypass in cURL identified by
Maksymilian Arciemowicz. (Ilia)
  * http://marc.info/?l=php-cvsm=119963956428826w=2
  * Upgraded PCRE to version 7.6 (Nuno)
  * http://marc.info/?l=php-cvsm=120163838831816w=2
  * Note, this is a very LARGE patch

[Bug 236986] [NEW] Please sync ttf-arphic-ukai 0.2.20080216.1-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main).

Please sync ttf-arphic-ukai 0.2.20080216.1-1 (main) from Debian unstable
(main).

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:

actually, there is no delta. The version in Ubuntu was just released
earlier than in debian. Therefor the package should be synced.

Changelog since current intrepid version 0.2.20080216.1-0ubuntu1:

ttf-arphic-ukai (0.2.20080216.1-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
  * fixed a typo in debian/prerm (LP: #194128)
  * debian/control: changed Architecture fro 'any' to 'all' (LP: #194168)
  * fixed typo in package description (Closes: #442606)
  * corrected homepage URL in control and changelog (Closes: #436530)
  * added Homepage field to debian/control
  * use bzip2 compression
  * bumped up the Standards version to 3.7.3
  * updated package description in debian/control
  * purge debconf entries and removed template and translations, as they are
no longer needed. (Closes: #435180)
  * use cdbs to build package
  * remove Provides: ttf-arphic-gkai00mp and ttf-arphic-kai00mp entries
(Closes: #451974)
  Copied from FONTLOG:
  * Bug fix: 45 Big5 PUA glyphs and 4 HKSCS PUA glyphs have not been assigned
codepoints -- FIXED.
  * resized all glyphs back to an em-size of 1024 like they were originally.
This also fixed the bug, that the glyphs and lines were too high.
The previous em-size was 2098, while it should have been 2048.
  * completely reworked all Latin based glyphs (thanks to Maurizio M. Gavioli)
  * changed the Latin, Greek and Cyrillic based glyphs back to Monospace
  * added 1214 glyphs and references
  * compile font as TrueType Collection (TTC):
contains 4 font flavors (CN, HK, TW, TW MBE) which map to different glyph
styles. Currently this is only a proof of concept with only 2 codepoints
(U+4EE4 and U+9AA8) between CN, HK and TW flavors and 13 different glyphs
between the TW and TW MBE flavors. All other glyphs are exactly the same
in all flavors.
  * debugged a lot of glyphs which had intersecting splines. However, this
process has not been finished yet.
  * moved all glyphs from the PUA areas into unencoded space and only map
those to the BMP PUA where it's necessary for roundtrip compatibility
(i.e. the HKSCS PUA references only appear in the HK flavor, Big5
references in HK, TW and TW MBE, and the GB18030-2000 references in the
CN flavor.
  * added all outstanding PUA references for HKSCS to be compatible back to
HKSCS in ISO 10646-1:1993
  * Name change: from AR PL ZenKai Uni (MBE) to AR PL UKai {CN|HK|TW|TW MBE}.
For backwards compatibility alias entries are defined to map
AR PL ZenKai Uni to AR PL UKai HK and AR PL ZenKai Uni MBE to
AR PL UKai TW MBE.
  * split the fontconfig configuration file into 5:
* 25-ttf-arphic-ukai-render: fixes globaladvance and sets the font to be
  dual-width
* 35-ttf-arphic-ukai-aliases: alias entries for AR PL ZenKai Uni (MBE)
* 41-ttf-arphic-ukai.conf: alias settings for Sans
* 75-ttf-arphic-ukai-select: puts AR PL UKai * into 'rejectfont', so
  that the fonts don't get automatically chosen by fontconfig.
* 90-ttf-arphic-ukai-embolden.conf: emboldens the font

[Bug 93375] Re: Confusing french translation in bash

2008-06-03 Thread Schplurtz le déboulonné
Hello,

New and VERY BETTER and up to date version of bash.po has been available
from www.traduc.org since  march 13rd 2008.

compared to the version available in hardy (wich dates april 2007) :
- Only 6 new english strings
- One english change. and it's just a literal ^G replaced by a \a

So, this new po file seems perfectly compatible with hardy's current
version.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at [WWW]

[Bug 233847] Re: google earth crashes on amd64 hardy

2008-06-03 Thread Peter Wainwright
I can confirm this happens for me. I attach Xorg.0.log for the failed

The crash happens for both the vesa driver and the nv driver.

I get a bit further using the proprietary nvidia driver (no crash, but
fails to contact server and reports Error 29). But that is probably a
different issue.

[Bug 186756] Re: allow a keyboard shortcut for open in a new tab

2008-06-03 Thread David Prieto
So right now we have:

If you have modified the URL of an existing tab : Alt+Enter
If you want to open a link in a new tab : Ctrl+LeftClick

Well, actually that causes a bit of a consistency problem: which
modifier key is supposed to be associated to new tab? Ctrl or alt?

It should either be:

If you have modified the URL of an existing tab : Ctrl+Enter
If you want to open a link in a new tab : Ctrl+LeftClick

Or:

If you have modified the URL of an existing tab : Alt+Enter
If you want to open a link in a new tab : Alt+LeftClick

[Bug 224404] Re: MTRR is not properly setup on Intel Northbridge Chipset (P35, X38, X48) with more than 3GB RAM and with Memory Remapping Enabled

2008-06-03 Thread Greg King
I think the issue that we are seeing, is related to the kernel thinking
that the graphics card memory is uncachable. If the mtrr tables are
changed such that the memory at d000 is set to write-back rather
than uncachable

So:
reg00: base=0xd000 (3328MB), size= 256MB: uncachable, count=1
is changed to
reg00: base=0xd000 (3328MB), size= 256MB: write-back, count=1

This guess is due to the line starred below (***) ... found by sudo lspci -vv
and what appears to be the congruent line in the mtrr tables.

[Bug 231472] Re: Disabled buttons and an inactive address bar

2008-06-03 Thread Itachi
I agree that it was never intended to be run as root. However, note that
I did not ran firefox as root that caused the problem to occur. I ran it
as a normal user, and the problem occured. Once I ran it as root, it
fixed the issue, and I can run it normally as a normal user. Yes, I did
update firefox when this issue occured. So I agree that the problem
occured when firefox was upgraded and may have corrupted the profiles.
Did the problem get solved that the root fixed the profile or something?
Or could it be that the problem could be solved when running firefox as
another normal user?

I can confirm the bug on Hardy intel 32bits, up to date and using the

In my case the affected symptom is a few applets (most notably the trash

restart the panels (killall gnome-panel) the affected applets are
displayed again.

Hi Aaron!

You say that xsane is your primary frontend. But it doesn't seem to be
documented anywhere in xsane manual how to disable the image corruption.
A user should not have to play Sherlock Holmes in order to find a way to
turn the image corruption off. As of now, the whole feature effectively
resembles infamous proprietary Digital Restrictions Management systems.
Please, provide a straightforward way to disable image corruption and
document it!

[Bug 236998] [NEW] Intermittent problem with GL applications in linux-rt

2008-06-03 Thread Pierre-Antoine Champin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24-17-rt

I am using hardy, with the linux-rt kernel and the nvidia-glx (not new) driver.
Also, I patched /usr/bin/compiz with INDIRECT=yes to fix a memory leak in
nvidia drivers.

Some times, when compiz starts, Xorg hangs using 100% CPU. Switching to
VT works, and I can get it working by replacing it by metacity. With
metacity, everything works fine, but any GL application (e.g. glxinfo,
glxgears) hangs or is using 100% CPU.

When this happens, /var/log/Xorg.0.log contains repetitive errors like :

tossed event which came in late
mieqEnequeue: out-of-order valuator event; dropping.

I already repported that at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24/+bug/197130/comments/72

[Bug 224110] Re: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/bin/java: error while loading shared libraries: libjli.so: cannot openshared object file: No such file or directory

2008-06-03 Thread Colin King
This bug occurs on a readlink() of /proc/self/exe - the kernel
implements readlink() of /proc/pid/exe by getting the file from the
first executable VMA. The path to the file is reconstructed and
returned as the result. This does not identify the correct path on
stackable file systems, such as unionfs, hence it's not a unionfs bug
per se.

A patch for this does exist to fix the correct handling of
/proc/self/exe, namely http://marc.info/?l=linux-mm-
commitsm=120141116911711 however it is fairly intrusive - it modifies
some of the more critical parts of the kernel and I believe it is not
yet currently upstream, hence it's far too much of a risk to patch a
stable release of Hardy and keep the kernel maintainable over the hardy
LTS lifetime.

[Bug 149366] Re: Gutsy - Deskbar results window is too small when copy-pasting/until second input keypress

2008-06-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package deskbar-applet - 2.23.3-0ubuntu1

---
deskbar-applet (2.23.3-0ubuntu1) intrepid; urgency=low

  * New upstream version:
- Use subprocess module instead of os.popen.
  Catch OSError when retrieving version
- Escape url for tooltip in ShowUrlAction.py
- Added Wikipedia Suggest module (lp: #234146)
- Set snippet correctly for feeds, web history and E-Mails in beagle-live.
  Changed displayed text slightly for those actions.
- Show tooltip when hovering over the arrow if more than one
  action is available.
- Added get_tooltip method to Action interface. Override this method to
  display a tooltip when the user hovers over the match (the default
  action's tooltip is displayed) or over an action
  in the list of additional actions.
- Fixed bug #522585: Crash when changing default browser
- Added support for iceweasel browser. When the default browser is changed
  mozilla and iceweasel are supported, too. When Firefox is used and the
  command must contain firefox instead of being exactly firefox
- Added OpenThunderbirdMailMessageAction. Mail messages are now opened in
  either evolution or thunderbird (fixes #420475).
  Display e-mail address as author when no name is available
- Fixed bug #474496: Files that are in archives will appear as
  Open archive containing file
- Mark history ComboBox and Clear History button insensitive when no items
  are in history
- Only store window position when window UI is used
- Find programs in $PATH that start with the search term
- Added Capuchin support
- Fixed: Error dialog appears when installing a valid module after an
  invalid one has been installed.
- Added (set|get)_snippet methods to Match interface. If a snippet is set
  it will displayed in a new line under the matche's get_verb value
- Added the possibility to run Deskbar as a tray icon instead of an applet
  with the -t option from the commandline. It only works with Window UI.
- Fixed exception when changing default browser
  while preferences window is open
- load_icon returns None if fall back icon 'stock_unknown' is not present
  in the theme
- The size of the icon in the panel is no longer based on applet's size
  hint, but the allocation width and height.
- When checking firefox version. Wait until the process terminated to
  avoid zombie processes. (lp: #209662)
- Use gtk-clear icon instead of gtk-empty for Clear history item
  in popup menu
- Show match that opens beagle-search when more than the maximum results
  have been found. It will only be searched for this particular category.
- Fixed bug #520278: Window in sticky mode too small (lp: #149366)
- Added support to change the language the search results should be in
  to Yahoo module
- Added possibility to search for specific formats only.
  If the query contains format:format only those files are searched
- Added new YahooSuggestHandler module.
  It suggests alternative queries based on the given query.
- Added new Google Code Search module
- Adjust layout when applet is moved from one panel to another
  * Sync with Debian
  * debian/control.in:
- build-depends on python-all-dbg, python-gnome2-dbg,
  python-gnome2-extras-dbg
- list debug variant
- updated maintainer information
- updated pygtk and gtk requirements
  * debian/patches/01_fix_python_interpreter.patch:
- use /usr/bin/python rather than env python (Ubuntu: #79234)
  * debian/patches/05_fix_python_m4_macros.patch:
- changes required for the debug build
  * debian/patches/90_aclocal+autoconf+automake.patch:
- run autotools update
  * debian/rules:
- build debug variant

[Bug 211692] Re: F-Spot refused to close, force quit used

2008-06-03 Thread Rob Frohne
Here is the result from the debug command for f-spot. I just started
it, and then clicked the close button. It responded with a dialog box
claiming f-spot was not responding and suggesting Force Quit. I have
tried using f-spot on another user who doesn't have any photos, on the
same machine and had no problem quitting. I tried it on another Hardy
install, and it worked okay with a user with some photos, but not 2500
as this user has. Unfortunately the ones with the large libraries are
the ones that use f-spot a lot. The problem is that changes cannot be
saved the way it is, because changes are lost with Force Quit.

[Bug 201933] Re: [Hardy] [regression] gdm, opengl apps and vlc reset brightness to xbacklight value (i915)

2008-06-03 Thread unggnu
@Mike Gratton and vervelover
I guess it is the best to open a new bug report for your issue since this one
is fixed for i915.

It is a good idea to recheck your issue with a newer Intel drive from Debian
sid. You have to remove the old i810 driver because the new one doesn't work
parallel.
sudo apt-get remove xserver-xorg-video-i810 xserver-xorg-video-all
Download the current driver from
http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/pool/main/x/xserver-xorg-video-intel/xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.3.1-1_i386.deb
 and install it.
After that restart X and check if your problem is gone. If it still doesn't
work it is the best to report it upstream.

If you want to reset everything do the follow commands.
sudo apt-get remove xserver-xorg-video-intel
sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-all

Afterwards you will have the standard hardy driver again.

Maybe you can also undo this patch and compile the driver and test it. The
easiest way is to download the source and dependencies with apt-src install
xserver-xorg-video-intel and then remove the file
./debian/patches/16_legacy_backlight_blc_pwn_ctl.patch and also remove the 16.
entry from ./debian/patches/series . The driver is compiled with fakeroot
dpkg-buildpackage. Afterwards you have a Debian package which could be
installed with dpkg -i packagename.deb .

[Bug 236988] [NEW] HARDY: gnome-ssh-askpass does *not* grab keyboard or focus if contested with other apps

2008-06-03 Thread EvanCarroll
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-keyring

This bug is not a bug about gnome-ssh-askpass simply failing to popup.

If another gnome app already has the locks that gnome-ssh-askpass is
attempting to obtain, gnome-ssh-askpass will fail. And often as a bunk
side effect it will destroy the IO of what ever other app previously had
the locks. This is easy to see in any gnome application that utilizes
full-screen for example gnome-terminal.

Steps to reproduce with a locked key:
* open gnome-terminal
* fullscreen it (f11)
* ssh to something

Type and you will see some characters (mainly whitespace) pass through to
gnome-terminal.
gnome-ssh-askpass will never obtain focus over the gnome-terminal which is
already running full-screen. It will however eat pty's IO.

*You can not exit, without killing it from a non-x TTY.*

[Bug 236676] Re: OpenOffice 2.4 in Hardy AMD64, Locking assertion failure

2008-06-03 Thread Bertock85
The problem is that proposed repository gives a release candidate version of
openoffice (exactly rc1) so there are two way to solve the problem:
- get the basic (and not beautiful) user interface until there are any
updates
- do the downgrade (the solution that I try)
To do the downgrade the only way is to uninstall all OO packages (whit apt o
synaptic) then perform another new installation of real stable packages
(Package_Name-3ubuntu6).

Probably to have a fully stable system is better to disable proposed and
backports repository.

[Bug 236999] [NEW] On suspend/resume, USB soundcard loses default status

2008-06-03 Thread tvst
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open PulseAudio Volume Control, set USB soundcard as default
2) Suspend (you can either close all programs or leave them on, doesn't really
matter which)
3) Resume from suspend mode
4) Open PulseAudio Volume Control, check that USB soundcard is no longer the

[Bug 100126] Re: Data corruption with ext3 in striped logical volume

2008-06-03 Thread Andreas Schiffer
For the past 14 months nobody cared about this bug, and obviously nobody
tried to reproduce this bug on his system.

So why should I put any effort in checking if the bug is still there? It would
be major effort for me to reproduce this bug.
And - as far as I can see - the only result would be that for the next 14
months this bug report would stay Incomplete and without anybody caring about
it.

[Bug 222052] Re: visor module doesn't work after upgrade to hardy

2008-06-03 Thread Chris Hellyar
Me Too - Same error, with a Palm Tungsten W.

I tried the fix above (ppa kernel) and I can't see any 2.6.25 images
after doing the apt-get update. ie:

rt2500-source - source for rt2500 wireless network driver
rt2570-source - source for rt2570 wireless network driver
tn5250 - 5250 telnet emulator for accessing an IBM iSeries (AS/400)

I also tried replacing 'hardy' with 'intrepid' in the sources file, and
it didn't appear to have a 2.6.25 either

[Bug 236777] Re: Swiss German keyboard layout broken since Feisty

2008-06-03 Thread Héctor
No, it's not a problem that goes away if I choose another keyboard
layout. I've been using the same keyboard layout since Feisty, and in
Feisty it worked properly. Then when I did the upgrade to Gutsy it
stopped working and no matter what keyboard layout I choose, the
behavior is the same. Then I upgraded to Hardy hoping that the problem
went away, but it persists, that's why I am now reporting it.

Basically, as far as I am concerned, there are 3 keys that are not
working as expected and which I need pretty often. Those keys are the
ones described in my previous post.

What I am trying to do is to get the following letters:

ï
ñ
á or ó

but instead I am getting

¨i
~n
´a or ´o

which is not what I want. For example, for the ñ letter, what I used
to do (and this is what I do in any Winbugs system) I pressed at the
same time Alt Gr and ^ (the key next to the backspace), released and
then pressed n and I used to get ñ, but ever since I'm getting ~n.
It is also the case for the other keys I'm referring to.

For the ó letter I pressed at the same time Alt Gr and ' (the
second key to the left of the backspace), released and then pressed o.

For the ï letter I pressed at the same time Alt Gr and ¨ (the key
below the backspace) and then i

I don't know what further details I can provide but I'll be glad to
help.

Thanks for your time

[Bug 125970] Re: slow scroll with image as background-repeat

2008-06-03 Thread ligaard
No improvements in 3.0 RC1 from hardy-proposed, sorry.

I tried the two urls below, which both gives 15-20 fps in Opera, but
only ½-1 fps in Firefox 3 RC1.

Note that the slashdot url is interesting: It scrolls equally well in
Opera and Firefox until the 'Comments' box (on the left) starts to
'hover/float' with the scrolling page.

Re: [Bug 235699] Re: gnome system tray glitches with compiz enabled

2008-06-03 Thread Aurélien Dominguez
Hi

Here is the lspci output for my video card : 01:00.0 VGA compatible
controller: nVidia Corporation G71 [GeForce 7900 GS] (rev a1)

and I use nvidia drivers from nvidia-glx-new package.
Anyway, it seems that one of the last two kernel/nvidia-glx updates
solved the problem since I did not see any more glitches since then.

I don't know if compiz is responsible for that, and maybe it was a VGA
driver problem, but problem only occured when compiz was running with
both, gutsy and hardy.

I think you can simply close this bug for the moment. I will reopen it
if it happens again and if I have any more details...

Regards

Aurélien Dominguez
