The program was 54 minutes long and when I move the slider bar to 31 minutes I get a hang that doesn't return. i ultimately had to kill the player with a HUP. I have experienced the problem with many different large audio files particularly podcasts. The strace was taken from the latest "Fresh Ubuntu Podcast" which is in ogg format and is approxiately 20 mbytes in size. [Bug 242375] Re: firefox crashed with SIGSEGV in snd_pcm_state()
Hy. The crash is probably random, I do not know how to reproduce it yet. I've installed flash player 10 beta because of Bug #239233 who crashes my gnome and X.org when minimizing the browser, if i've had opened few pages with flash in it. The Java package is the default from Ubuntu installation. I think that is 5. Extensions: Firebug 1.2.0a21X ; Firefox Showcase 0.9.4.6 ; Ubuntu Firefox modifications 0.5. They are all installed from "Get Ubuntu extensions". ** Attachment added: "_usr_lib_firefox-3.0_firefox.1000.crash" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/15542341/_usr_lib_firefox-3.0_firefox.1000.crash -- firefox crashed with SIGSEGV in snd_pcm_state() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242375 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 242426] [NEW] Ark hangs when file/directory name on NTFS contains a colon
Public bug reported: What I did: - I installed Kubuntu 8.04 (I always update when Adept_updater suggests it) in parallel with WinXPSP2, which is installed on NTFS partitions. - I used Firefox to save some webpages directly on a NTFS partition. These webpages had colons (":") in their title so FF used that as file/directory names. I justed clicked on "save". - I right-clicked the directory where I saved all these files an chose compress to ZIP. - The Ark status windows comes. It seems like it is proceeding (the rectangle in the bar goes from the left to the right and back all the time) but the hard-drive doesn't do anything. In Windows, 7zip says that it can't open that directories. However, I can see them in the Windows Explorer but I can't rename them there. I have to do that in Kubuntu. When I have removed the colons there by renaming, everything works as it should. As far as I know, NTFS internally uses a colon to seperate the (hidden) ADS part from the rest of the filename. I know that Linux and MS are completely different worlds, but in my opionion as user: - NTFS-3G shouldn't allow colons in filenames. - Applications like Firefox shouldn't suggest names with colons (or should have at least an option in the settings to change that) - Ark should abort trying to open these files and notify me. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ads ark colon ntfs -- Ark hangs when file/directory name on NTFS contains a colon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242426 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 185311] Re: hardy, locking assertion failure, xorg/libsdl
I've also tested Bryce's non-xcb libs and they also fix my Matlab issues completely. They also fix my Maple issues, which is reasonable as both packages share a Java foundation in their GUI. I bet this fixes bugs with many other software packages too. I hope the non-xcb backed X11 libraries go back into Hardy, especially as it's a LTS release. I have no config file in my ~/.vmware directory. In other words I cannot enter shifted characters of any kind. The keyboard is connected to a KVM and all other systems respond to it properly. So I have the condition where all non-vmware applications in Ubuntu Hardy (all updates applied as of 2008-02-26 at 12:43 UTC) fail to recognize the shift key BUT applications within an active (a paused/restarted session also works) VMWare sessions running DO recognize the key. I cannot pinpoint what, if any, application triggers this. It has always happened while working within terminal/browser/vmware sessions and NOT when opening a new application. [Bug 215499] Re: Nautilus not preserving timestamps
I think it is REALLY URGENT that a general fix get out there for all Ubuntu users. I (and everyone else) am wildly promoting 8.04 as the Vista alternative... and it strikes me as plain silly to not fix this problem pronto. It is so off-putting to use an OS that cannot keep file dates correct that I'd suggest fixing it in Nautilus if needs be, and if/when lower level modules are fixed to no longer cause the problem, THEN remove the workaround in Nautilus. The suggestion that it has anything to do with 'design decisions' is a FURPHY... There is NO JUSTIFICATION for 'touching' (ie redating) a set of files simply because they are copied unaltered to another location (esp on same computer). The bug is presumably that, as permissions are added to files not in *nix file system, someone decided to 're-date' file, as if someone had edited something but it will always be just a bug. The Russian commentator was right - when you have two copies of a file (unaltered) you have two instances of the one file and NOT two files of different dates! The fact that you can't 'reliably' copy photos from your camera, or files off a removable drive etc is a SEVERE error for any user. Yes, you can use Archive Manager to do a tar.gz zip file of them and then Extract them on the target drive... but it slows down a file copy 50x. The error is so severe as to prevent average users from using the OS... so it is critical that it be fixed FOR ALL USERS quickly. Since gedit has long since migrated to the new printing dialog, which now supports reverse printing. I see no reason why this bug can't die now. [Bug 238163] Re: keyfile doesn't work in initramfs
Ok, after I recovered my system, the intrepid cryptsetup works partially. Unfortunately I can't really tell what the important change was. I booted from a rescue system, reinstalled the hardy cryptsetup, used the opportunity to change some of my device labels and cleaned up /etc/fstab, /etc/cryptsetup and /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume. What happens now is that I can boot my system normally with intrepid cryptsetup using a keyfile for all partitions except /. However, I am unable to resume. If I hibernate the system, then afterwards it starts up normally and only brings up the swap device together with the other partitions later in the boot process instead of right after the root fs in the initramdisk. The hibernation works fine though, when the swap is activated I get a warning that it contains a valid resume signature. -- keyfile doesn't work in initramfs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238163 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
