[Bug 224061] Re: package samba-common 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade:
Part of the problem is that the following two English choices: show the differences between the versions show a side-by-side difference between the versions in ucf are translated as follows into Italian: mostrare le differenze tra le versioni mostrare le differenze tra le versioni This obviously gives the user no way to distinguish between the two. The other problem is that choosing 'show the differences' is apparently not displaying the differences in the debconf UI, like it's supposed to. This is probably another bug in ucf, but I'm not sure where the bug lies. ZioNemo, can you send a copy of your /etc/samba/smb.conf file from this failure? ** Also affects: ucf (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ucf (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium Status: New = Confirmed -- package samba-common 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/224061 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 224317] Re: Minimal rights samba share
I don't believe that the uid and gid options should have any effect here; the problem is not in the ownership of the file, but that the permissions of the created file as shown on the client are not consistent with the share configuration and mount options. This indicates that the kernel client is somehow caching what it believes the file permissions to be, and believes them to be other than what is set with the file_mode and dir_mode options. This precise behavior is reproducible only when using unix extensions = no on the server side. On the client side, here is the minimal set of mount options needed to reproduce: mount -tcifs //server/public_share /mnt/tmp -o file_mode=0777,guest,sec=none (Note that the lfs option is a no-op for cifs, and the codepage option is a no-op for any server that supports Unicode.) I'm reassigning this to the linux package, since the implementation of cifs is in the kernel. markba, as a workaround you can add the 'noperm' mount option to completely bypass the buggy client permissions behavior. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: samba = linux Importance: Undecided = Low Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- cifs: file_mode ignored when creating files on a samba server with unix extensions = no https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/224317 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 228619] Re: samba group share not writable by group members
as explained in the smb.conf manpage that has been cited here, the 'create mask' will only ever /restrict/ the permissions set on files, it will not /add/ to the permissions; so to force group permissions on, you should use 'force create mode = 060'. [Bug 235959] Re: smbclient -L gives NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hi airween, What is the server that you're connecting against? The presence of ANSI and Unicode password fields at /all/ in your packet trace suggests that the server is using plaintext password authentication. This is disabled by default in 8.04 for security reasons; to enable it, you would set 'client plaintext auth = yes' in the [global] section of /etc/samba/smb.conf. However, if this is the cause of the failure then there should also be an error message saying: Server requested plaintext password but 'client use plaintext auth' is disabled which you don't have here; so maybe getting information about your server would help diagnose this further. -- smbclient -L gives NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235959 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I've experienced crashes on this assertion several times with Konqueror 4.1 in Hardy using the kubuntu-members-kde4 ppa. *-dbgsym packages can be ignored. You have libcairo2-dev, which the original reporter of the bug also had. I installed this package, but still do not experience the issue. [Bug 258731] [NEW] Cannot perform concurrent push to different branches in the same Subversion
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bzr-svn A Subversion repository comprises many branches whereas each Bazaar branch is independent -- obvious fact, but there are consequences. In particular, two Bazaar branches related to the same Subversion repository are data coupled in a way that is counter-intuitive -- the branches are independent and all local operations can be carried out concurrently, but any operations involving the Subversion repository must be serialized. Yet this is not obvious as the Bazaar branches are independent entities, the user has to remember that they are in fact associated with the same Subversion store. Moreover the error message reported when a problem occurs is not the right error message, this is not a Bazaar failure except insofar that the error message is wrong and Bazaar should be dealing with this a lot better than it currently does. I propose that when a lock is encountered there is a message output and then the process backs off for a retry rather than just failing with a catastrophic error such as: Using saved location: svn+https://svn.codehaus.org/gant/gant/branches/1.4.x The svn+ syntax is deprecated, use https://svn.codehaus.org/gant/gant/branches/1.4.x instead. bzr: ERROR: sqlite3.OperationalError: database is locked Traceback (most recent call last): File /home/Checkouts/Bazaar/Bazaar_Mainline/bzrlib/commands.py, line 857, in run_bzr_catch_errors return run_bzr(argv) File /home/Checkouts/Bazaar/Bazaar_Mainline/bzrlib/commands.py, line 797, in run_bzr ret = run(*run_argv) File /home/Checkouts/Bazaar/Bazaar_Mainline/bzrlib/commands.py, line 499, in run_argv_aliases return self.run(**all_cmd_args) File /home/Checkouts/Bazaar/Bazaar_Mainline/bzrlib/builtins.py, line 802, in run use_existing_dir=use_existing_dir) File /home/Checkouts/Bazaar/Bazaar_Mainline/bzrlib/push.py, line 172, in _show_push_branch stop_revision=revision_id) File /home/Checkouts/Bazaar/Bazaar_Mainline/bzrlib/decorators.py, line 138, in read_locked result = unbound(self, *args, **kwargs) File /home/Checkouts/Bazaar/Bazaar_Mainline/bzrlib/branch.py, line 1779, in push _override_hook_source_branch=_override_hook_source_branch) File /home/Checkouts/Bazaar/Bazaar_Mainline/bzrlib/branch.py, line 1821, in _push_with_bound_branches result = self._basic_push(target, overwrite, stop_revision) File /home/Checkouts/Bazaar/Bazaar_Mainline/bzrlib/branch.py, line 1838, in _basic_push result.old_revno, result.old_revid = target.last_revision_info() File /home/users/russel/.bazaar/plugins/svn/branch.py, line 379, in last_revision_info last_revid = self.last_revision() File /home/users/russel/.bazaar/plugins/svn/branch.py, line 434, in last_revision return self.generate_revision_id(self.get_revnum()) File /home/users/russel/.bazaar/plugins/svn/branch.py, line 313, in generate_revision_id revnum, self.get_branch_path(revnum), self.mapping) File /home/users/russel/.bazaar/plugins/svn/repository.py, line 627, in generate_revision_id return self.get_revmap().get_revision_id(revnum, path, mapping, revprops, changed_fileprops) File /home/users/russel/.bazaar/plugins/svn/revids.py, line 142, in get_revision_id self.cache.insert_revid(revid, path, revnum, revnum, str(mapping.scheme)) File /home/users/russel/.bazaar/plugins/svn/revids.py, line 309, in insert_revid (min_revnum, max_revnum, revid, branch, scheme)) OperationalError: database is locked bzr 1.7dev on python 2.5.2 (linux2) arguments: ['/home/users/russel/bin/bzr', 'push'] encoding: 'UTF-8', fsenc: 'UTF-8', lang: 'en_GB.UTF-8' plugins: builddeb /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/bzrlib/plugins/builddeb [0.92.0dev0] bzrtools /home/users/russel/.bazaar/plugins/bzrtools [1.6.0] email/home/users/russel/.bazaar/plugins/email [unknown] gtk /home/users/russel/.bazaar/plugins/gtk [0.96.0dev1] launchpad /home/Checkouts/Bazaar/Bazaar_Mainline/bzrlib/plugins/launchpad [unknown] pqm /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/bzrlib/plugins/pqm [1.0.0dev0] rebase /home/users/russel/.bazaar/plugins/rebase [0.4.0dev0] svn /home/users/russel/.bazaar/plugins/svn [0.4.11rc1] xmloutput/home/users/russel/.bazaar/plugins/xmloutput [0.4.5] *** Bazaar has encountered an internal error. [Bug 239917] Re: [intrepid] emacs windows don ’t display after compiz 0.7.6 upgrade
Aha. After starting an invisible emacs window, you can make it be displayed with Ctrl+Alt+Tab, which is bound to the Static Application Switcher’s “Next window (All windows)”. This suggests that the window is not actually invisible but is initially opened very far off the screen. Compiz’s default “Smart” window placement algorithm seems to be at fault. If you set ccsm → Place Windows → Placement Mode to anything other than “Smart”, the emacs windows are displayed. -- [intrepid] emacs windows don’t display after compiz 0.7.6 upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/239917 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
