[Bug 230671] Re: Mounts external USB hard drive in a different point after resuming sleep
try the following: # sudo umount /media/[mount point] for example # sudo umount /media/disk1 that should unmount, which removes the drive icon from the desktop. it's then safe to disconnect the drive. however, the mount point folder in /media (e.g., /media/disk) will still be there and unusable. so it is save to remove that directory by using # sudo rmdir /media/disk[x] where [x] is the folder if there are multiple media devices connected. if there was only one device connected, it should be just /media/disk the next time you plug the media in, it should auto mount normally. -- Mounts external USB hard drive in a different point after resuming sleep https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/230671 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 264225] Re: nm-connection-editor does not work correctly when you have multiple wired connection profiles with different MAC addresses set (and only one lan card)
@Alexander Sack, but that way I am not able to use 2 different MAC addresses on 2 different networks, with only one lan card, because when I set the mac address, the profile does not show in the network manager pop-up menu. And worse - even when I have only one wired connection profile (for example auto eth0), when I set the MAC address in its settings, this profile disappears from the network manager pop-up menu, and Auto Ethernet appears (but it is NOT selected). [Bug 270382] [NEW] nm-connection-editor usability issues
Public bug reported: When defining a static ip address the default tab displayed is the MAC address tab. The default tab shown should be the IPv4 tab. Not many systems have multiple NICs (neither has this system). Most people just want to get to typing their IP-address. An inexperienced user will be stuck with the MAC address or worse, will try to input their ipv4 address. And about that IP-address entry. You can't see the whole ip-address you are typing while typing it. Only after you switch fields, which can ONLY be done with a mouse click, you can see the ip-address you entered. Same with netmask and default gw. Suggestions: -Make the default tab ipv4 addresses tab and move it to the left side. -Resize the IP-address fields to their proper length so you can check the ip-address while you are typing it. -Make pressing enter or tab go to the next field in the ipv4 addresses tab address entry. -MAC address field should be pre-populated on systems with only one ethernet interface. ** Affects: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nm-connection-editor usability issues https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270382 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 269656] Re: AN IRRELEVANT LICENSE IS PRESENTED TO YOU FREE-OF-CHARGE ON STARTUP
I second the call for Iceweasel to be the new default browser, and for Firefox to be moved to restricted. I would love it if Mozilla changed its mind on this issue, but I can't see it happening. They always prefer to ignore the wishes of their users, such as when they randomly changed the function of the backspace key to mean page up instead of go back. There was a huge outcry then, and still Mozilla refused to budge. They are self-destructive, unfortunately, fueled by legal fear. Ubuntu should learn from Mozilla's mistakes, if it wants to survive. Thankfully Debian does not have this problem of being corporatised. [Bug 256685] Re: Xorg hangs on boot after upgrade to 2:2.2.1-1ubuntu13.6
Running similar hardware (P5E-VM HDMI Rev 1.00G), with a fresh FC9 install got the same behavior (hard lock). Ran the FLASH update from 405 to 604 and still get the hang. Disabled X from starting and and everythign seemed fine. startx and all is well. Close X and start it again and hard hang. Nothing in the logs that seemed interesting. So, it would seem that initializing the video twice seems to be the trigger. The Intel WEB site lists a variety of errata for the 82G35 chipset. Do your laptop brightness keys work fine if you boot with the video module blacklisted and then kill gnome-power-manager? If so, what you're describing is probably a duplicate of bug #257827. [Bug 98955] Re: logd not running
Kubuntu KDE 3.5.9 Hardy Heron (for pity sake, this has been a problem since Dapper, or so it seems when reading the Ubuntu Forums) Bootlog remains empty, as others have stated... even after changing No to Yes. The Boot Log in KSystemlog states that there no file 'boot.log' in /var/log. Personal note: This is highly annoying, particularly for newbies like myself and disconcerting to see red text go flying by upon boot, with no idea what it said. Not to mention that so many workarounds seem system 'sensitive.' Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. as regards EnvyNG, the gtk version is broken. You should use either the KDE version (sudo apt-get install envyng-qt) or the textual interface. As regards Jockey, the fact that it doesn't mark the driver as in use ok since the driver cannot be loaded. Type: sudo /usr/bin/nvidia-bug-report.sh and in the same directory as the one from which you type the command you will find an nvidia-bug-report.log. [Bug 270430] [NEW] CPU usage increases on switching to battery from AC power
Public bug reported: Hello friends, I'm using Hardy Heron 8.04.1, Linux kernel version 2.6.24-19-generic. My machine is a Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop with 2x Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83GHz Processor, and 2GB of Ram (I'm herewith attaching a full specs of my machine generated using the tool HardInfo). Here goes my problem. I'm running firefox and totem now. My System Monitor shows a cpu usage of 30% in both of my processors. I was running on AC power when my cpu showed 30%. Now when i unplug the ac power, and run on battery power, my system monitor shows both cpu usage as 60%. I did the same thing for almost ten times and am finding the same thing. This is the most peculiar problem which one can encounter. Please find me a solution for this as increased cpu load in battery mode means more battery power consumption which is not good. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ac battery cpu increase power usage -- CPU usage increases on switching to battery from AC power https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270430 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
