[Bug 271254] Re: drbd doesn't start: No response from the DRBD driver! Is the module loaded? but module is loaded

2008-09-24 Thread Heiko
The drbd8-utils in Chucks ppa are at Version 8.2.6. -

But even Version ppa2 has the same behavior here as the Versions before.

With Kernel 2.6.27-3-server and 2.6.27-4-server and

I get also the message No response from the DRBD driver! Is the module loaded?
lsmod shows that the module is loaded and and in /var/log/messages I can see

[Bug 273888] [NEW] php5-gd failed to install due to unmet dependencies

2008-09-24 Thread bhatdv
Public bug reported:

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

[Bug 241480] Re: bacula-fd does not start when installed via bacula-client

2008-09-24 Thread Ante Karamatić
It's worth mentioning that after the network is started, avahi (on
default install) looks at DNS to see if '.local' domain is served by DNS
server. If that's true, avahi doesn't start. If there is no DNS for
'.local', avahi will start. Since it takes some time to register an IP
with a hostname, it is possible that bacula-fd is started before that
registration happens. This results in unresolvable hostname and thuss
failure to start.

I suggest using 'localhost' if you desire to have '127.0.0.1'. If there
is an non-local interface (eth0, eth1, wlan0, ...), d420.local will be a
record for non-local IP.

This bug is valid, but at the moment is unresolvable. Ubuntu has plans
on replacing SysV init system with upstart, which could solve this
issue.

I'm closing this bug. If you feel that's wrong, please reopen it.

I don't understand why you cannot start Bacula after the network is up and
running and DNS is serving names. That is how it works on all other systems.
We have never run into this problem elsewhere, so I cannot understand why it
is unresolvable.

db_set bacula/sd_mpasswd $(cat /dev/urandom | tr -dc _A-Z-a-z-0-9 |

After that, i use special strings to replace password in configuration file
(like for RPM)

./configure ...
  --with-dir-password=XXX_REPLACE_WITH_DIRECTOR_PASSWORD_XXX \
  --with-fd-password=XXX_REPLACE_WITH_CLIENT_PASSWORD_XXX \
  --with-sd-password=XXX_REPLACE_WITH_STORAGE_PASSWORD_XXX \

--with-mon-dir-password=XXX_REPLACE_WITH_DIRECTOR_MONITOR_PASSWORD_XXX
\
  --with-mon-fd-password=XXX_REPLACE_WITH_CLIENT_MONITOR_PASSWORD_XXX
\

--with-mon-sd-password=XXX_REPLACE_WITH_STORAGE_MONITOR_PASSWORD_XXX
\

At the end, i just have to replace XXX_...XXX strings by what we have computed
in each
package.postinst script.

db_get bacula/director_mpasswd
db_dir_mpass=$RET
db_get bacula/fd_mpasswd
db_fd_mpass=$RET
db_get bacula/sd_mpasswd
db_sd_mpass=$RET
db_stop

sed \
-e
s%XXX_REPLACE_WITH_DIRECTOR_MONITOR_PASSWORD_XXX%$db_dir_mpass%
\
-e s%XXX_REPLACE_WITH_STORAGE_MONITOR_PASSWORD_XXX%$db_sd_mpass%
\
-e s%XXX_REPLACE_WITH_CLIENT_MONITOR_PASSWORD_XXX%$db_fd_mpass%
\
   $SRCDIR/$CONFIG $TARGET

At the end, if you configure FD/SD/DIR/Console on the same box, all your
passwords
will be ok.

They have also to remove the XXAddress = 127.0.0.1 from all configuration
file.

We could resolve this problem if we would stall booting of all services

Upstart enables state driven booting, so all services would boot up,

[Bug 274178] [NEW] dhcp3-client can't set IP address due to insufficient rights

2008-09-24 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dhcp3-client

Hi,

strange problem: On my notebook computer with WLAN I can't get DHCP
addresses.

Trace of the problem:

dhclient3 properly receives an IP address from the server.

dhclient3 then calls /sbin/dhclient-script to actually perform the
configuration, e.g. use ifconfig to put the IP address received from the
server on the interface, something like

   ifconfig wlan0 inet 1.2.3.4 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 1.2.3.255

which fails. A trace showed that it fails with PERMISSION DENIED because of
insufficient rights. dhclient3 performs a
setuid and setgid to the user and group dhcp before calling the script
/sbin/dhclient-script.

Since this script is then run without root privileges, the ifconfig
fails with EPERM.

How was this intended to work?

regards
Hadmut

[Bug 236931] Re: openssh-server does not find dsa keys authorized_keys file

2008-09-24 Thread PJO
I thought I had the same problem, with

Server: Ubuntu server 8.04.1

and either/both of

Client1: Ubuntu-eee 8.04.1 (slimmed down version of Ubuntu for Asus EEE PC; ssh
client only installed)
Client2: Ubuntu server 8.04.1

file and directory permissions are correct ( setting StrictModes to
'no' didn't help --I tried it just in case)

I tried to follow instructions here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/serverguide/C/openssh-server.html which are
not entirely consistent with what I've since read elsewhere (e.g., here
http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/152) when trying to
understand why this wasn't working as expected.

Why authorized_keys2?

ssh-copy-id -i uses authorized_keys regardless of whether RSA or DSA
is selected, not authorized_keys2. (hello?)

(I learned about ssh-copy-id here http://principialabs.com/beginning-
ssh-on-ubuntu where it's specifically referred to with Ubuntu)

I tried copying authorized_keys to authorized_keys2, which didn't make
any difference.

The private key files have wrapped lines (@ 64 characters). Both ID_RSA
and ID_DSA..Does it matter?

Just tried RSA; this didn't work for me.

OK. Just tried with Ubuntu desktop running on an old laptop (LPC); I
installed the OpenSSH server software, generated keys, copied the public
key to the EEE pc (to ~/.ssh -- same account name). I renamed the
existing authorized_keys in case there was anything wrong with it and
then renamed the public key file (first DSA; then repeated this for RSA)
and set permissions to 600 (advice in OpenSSH FAQ).

I made no changes to the sshd_config or ssh_config files.

[Bug 224208] Re: startup script does not start irexec

2008-09-24 Thread Mario Limonciello
The LIRC application won't be aware of userspace config files -
particularly if operating with NFS mounted home directories. This will
*always* have to be done by the user's login session. For your
particular application of this problem, i'd recommend adapting your
startup script that starts the X server.

For the mythbuntu project, as discussed before, a set top box mode would
be very neat to have available, you may want to help develop such a
thing. As soon as the jaunty archives open up, we'll be open to looking
at patches.

[Bug 273854] [NEW] Vinagre bookmarks should be ordered alphabetically

2008-09-24 Thread André Barmasse
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vinagre

Hi

As I have a growing number of computers to survey in the company I work,
it would be very helpful, if the bookmark list on the left side was
sorted in alphabetic order (automatically or manually). Additionally
even the possibility to create folders, wherein you can store a number
of boookmarks (by drag and drop?) would be very nice.

Nevertheless, vinagre rules!! Keep up the good work! André

Another UI issue:

The window with the list of suitable drivers shows the cryptic device
ID, like

It should better show the human-readable make and model, like:

Samsung ML-1610

[Bug 209403] Re: crash with gmane nntp server and kvm.devel newsgroup

2008-09-24 Thread Richard Birnie
Following up on some old bugs. Sorry for the string of questions just trying to
clarify the situation.
Does this bug still occur in Hardy?
Does it only occur in the KDE3 version of Knode or does it also occur under
KDE4?
Is it only that one particular group that causes the crash or are there others?

As someone who doesn't use Knode or newsgroups if you can tell me how
to subscribe to a group I can try to reproduce this in intrepid. If you
are able to induce the crash reliably could you please install the
package kdepim-dbg (or kdepim-kd4-dbg for kde4 on hardy) and induce the
crash to get a backtrace. This package contains the debugging symbols
and will hopefully provide us with some information on what causes this
crash.

[Bug 271204] Re: [needs-packaging] iPath - telemedicine applications, inc microscope

2008-09-24 Thread KB
I have just updated the description. Would love to provide iPath as a
deb package but have never done any deb packaging before. Is there any
guide on how to package php web applications for Ubuntu ?

** Description changed:

  URL:
  http://sourceforge.net/projects/ipath
  http://www.openclinical.org/os_iPath.html

  Description:
iPath is providing an free and open platform for many kind of telemedical
applications.
The iPath-Server, provides a sort of medical BBS to discuss/chat/consult
online. Additional modules can be added, e.g. iPath-Microscope for real time
telemicroscopy.

iPath is an open source software project with the aim of developing
a multi-purpose communication platform for telemedicine, distance
  teaching and medical knowledge management.

In use: The platform forms the basis of the Solomon Islands
Telemedicine Network - a joint project of the National Referral
Hospital in Honiara, South Pacific Medical Projects [and] the University
of Basel. iPath is also being used in the RAFT (French African
Telemedicine Network) project linking countries in French-speaking
Africa, and as part of the telepathology project at Sihanouk Hospital
Center of HOPE, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

- Programed in Java so works on most OS platforms.
+ Programed mainly in PHP (some minor external add-ons in Java) so works
+ on most web-servers.

  License: GNU GPL

[Bug 240537] Re: Problems with licd.conf.atilibusb (Snapstream X10)

2008-09-24 Thread Neil
I'm sorry, I thought I had posted back.

The conf.atiusb in Intrepid uses entirely different codes for the
Snapstream. I don't have anything to install Intrepid on, and have no
idea how to pass a USB remote through VirtualBox. That version of the
conf might have even solved the bug.

The best I could do is identify the defective remove in Hardy... But I
don't have the old lircd.conf.atiusb.

[Bug 271254] Re: drbd doesn't start: No response from the DRBD driver! Is the module loaded? but module is loaded

Re: [Bug 240537] Re: Problems with licd.conf.atilibusb (Snapstream X10)

2008-09-24 Thread Mario Limonciello
Hi Neil:

Even though that conf uses entirely different codes, you should still be
able to use the conf on hardy.

Alternatively, the old hardy defective remote should have been stored in
/usr/share/lirc/remotes. Either way, if you identify something defective in
either config, we can take care of it.
On Wed, Sep 24, 2008 at 02:21, Neil [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

I'm sorry, I thought I had posted back.

The conf.atiusb in Intrepid uses entirely different codes for the
Snapstream. I don't have anything to install Intrepid on, and have no
idea how to pass a USB remote through VirtualBox. That version of the
conf might have even solved the bug.

The best I could do is identify the defective remove in Hardy... But I
 don't have the old lircd.conf.atiusb.

[Bug 273842] Re: KPC680 cellmodem card crashes Intrepid/NM7 (could be airprime.ko kernel module is the culprit)

2008-09-24 Thread Jim March
Oh hell, the airprime driver is flat-out MISSING?

Well there's yer problem, Sparky!

OK, I downloaded linux-source-2.6.27 from Synaptic. There is NO
filename with airprime in it anywhere. Searches for airprime as a
text string in all files shows no significant stuff.

There's references to an airprime.ko file which is compiled out of
airprime.c, which contains a block of stuff people have been editing
to get various cards working. It looks something like this:

---
* AirPrime CDMA Wireless Serial USB driver
*
* Copyright (C) 2005-2006 Greg Kroah-Hartman [EMAIL PROTECTED]
*
* This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or
* modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License version
* 2 as published by the Free Software Foundation.
*/

#include linux/kernel.h
#include linux/init.h
#include linux/tty.h
#include linux/tty_flip.h
#include linux/module.h
#include linux/usb.h
#include linux/usb/serial.h

static struct usb_device_id id_table [] = {
{ USB_DEVICE(0x0c88, 0x17da) }, /* Kyocera Wireless KPC650/Passport */
{ USB_DEVICE(0x1410, 0x1110) }, /* Novatel Wireless Merlin CDMA */
{ USB_DEVICE(0x1410, 0x1130) }, /* Novatel Wireless S720 CDMA/EV-DO */
{ USB_DEVICE(0x1410, 0x2110) }, /* Novatel Wireless U720 CDMA/EV-DO */
{ USB_DEVICE(0x1410, 0x1430) }, /* Novatel Merlin XU870 HSDPA/3G */
{ USB_DEVICE(0x1410, 0x1100) }, /* ExpressCard34 Qualcomm 3G CDMA */
{ USB_DEVICE(0x413c, 0x8115) }, /* Dell Wireless HSDPA 5500 */
{ USB_DEVICE(0x413c, 0x8118) }, /* Dell Wireless HSDPA 5510 */
{ },
};
---

Jim again - this is per:

http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-461991.html

Now we're getting somewhere. God only knows what it's using INSTEAD of
airprime...?

IF I can find an airprime.c file I can splice in a line for the KPC680
with the info obtained off of USBView. Better yet, I'd like to find
either a compiled or source for an airprime module tuned up better for
the KPC680, if one exists.

Any help REAL welcome, meanwhile I'll go drop Greg a line...

[Bug 264071] Re: eject -X reports error while finding CD-ROM name.

2008-09-24 Thread Martin Pitt
Thanks, Adam. Some more comments:

 - ah, so SymLink() already uses and returns realpath(), so the loop is
unnecessary. You'll always get the fully canonicalized file name as a
result. This will make the code quite a bit easier.

 - This line

  full_str_name[strlen(full_str_name)-1] = '\0'; // chop trailing \n

looks fishy. asprintf() does not silently append a line break, so it
looks like you'd chop off the last real character? IMHO this like should
just go.

 - Indeed you are right wrt. existing code style, the asprintf()
configure.in check addition is a bit ugly. But don't worry too much
about it, for an Ubuntu patch that's fine. Thanks for sending it
upstream, if they know about it, they can change the patch to whichever
style they prefer.

Thank you!

[Bug 110251] Re: Different UUID between udev and fstab

2008-09-24 Thread Łukasz Góralczyk
Problem solved.

blkid and vol_id gave the same uuids, but there were some old entries in
blkid cache which I removed with sudo blkid -g. Then I removed old
menu.lst and forced update-grub to regenerate it - now there are correct
uuids. update-grub normally didn't overwrite old menu.lst, I had to
remove that file which all led to more confusion.

[Bug 273859] [NEW] Apache mod_dav_svn leaking memory

2008-09-24 Thread Lachlan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libapache2-svn

I have a large Subversion repository hosted with read access over plain
HTTP. When checking out from the repository, the Apache process that is
serving the WebDAV REPORT request starts consuming more and more memory
until all memory and swap space is consumed and the machine becomes
inaccessible. The only work-around I have found is to set ulimit -v
300 before launching Apache, which effectively kills the process
when virtual memory usage hits 3Gb. The client can then restart the
checkout and eventually it will be completed.

I have only noticed the leak when using Subversion clients, and tests
with Apache Bench don't seem to cause it, so it would appear to be a
problem with the Subversion module. I can't be absolutely certain at
this stage though.

lsb_release -rd: Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1 Release:8.04

uname -a: Linux x.y.com 2.6.24-19-server #1 SMP Wed Aug 20 18:43:06 UTC
