Its a regression from 2.2.1. not yet! @Alex: any idea on your side (change of the default driver or something alike) this seems to be a timing or reading problem according to the short read msg Artin, can you also post the debug drivers's output of 2.2.1 for comparing? First of all I want to note that there is no phoenix subdriver in both the official 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 sources. If my memory serves me well I once sent a patch to Chuck that added it and some other stuff from the trunk. So the driver in 2.2.1 package was mostly the same as in the trunk because of this patch. It seems to me that something happened with this patch in 2.2.2 package (because 2.2.2 still lacks the new phoenix subdriver). So you see, it was actually a downgrade. The thing that confused me at first is that the 2.2.2 version log tells that the agiler subdriver is used. But this is just an error in log text. In fact it uses agiler_old subdriver which doesn't work with some models (like Artin's). Since this is already an official release, I can't fix it. right, I only checked the trunk. looking at a pristine 2.2.2, there is only agiler + old and krauler the trunk includes the phoenix sub driver. Note: just to clarify the situation, since it isn't clear to me (and possibly others) in the trunk, the 0x06da:0x0003 is listed with the phoenix_subdriver agiler_old subdriver in 2.2.2, it's listed with the agiler_old subdriver what is the right one and what is the right fix? This is the short run focus. Also note that we can always extract a patch that only applies to (ie) the Debian or Ubuntu package, without the need to throw out a new NUT release... @Arnaud: when will be the next? :) the next is 2.4, and the roadmap is under refection... still scheduled for christmas. [Bug 290747] [NEW] Intrepid X11 Forwarding Not Working
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ssh I'm using the Intrepid Release Candidate CD. The exact problem detailed below also exists on 8.04, 8.04.1, and all of the Intrepid Alpha releases. The problem described below does NOT exist on 7.10 (Gutsy). I've been using Gutsy for almost a year to connect to a Solaris 10 box running an X server. I type 'xhost +' then 'ssh -X [EMAIL PROTECTED]'. When I type 'echo $DISPLAY' in the SSH session, it shows 192.168.1.1:0.0. I can then type 'firefox' and after a few seconds, a firefox X11 window will pop up. This is just one example, I use it for several X programs on the Solaris server. When I use my Gutsy laptop to connect to the Solaris server, everything works as expected. I can also connect from CygWin and MING clients on Windows. I am now booting into a fresh Intrepid Release Candidate installation. I type 'xhost +' then 'ssh -X [EMAIL PROTECTED]'. I check my display variable in the SSH session and it's fine, the same as on the Gutsy server. However, when I go to run an X program, I get an X11 error. The actual error varies depending on the program I run, but they all boil down to the same root message: Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: or Exception in thread main java.lang.InternalError: Can't connect to X11 window server using '192.168.1.1:0.0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable. Ive tried changing the display variable to: --localhost:0.0 --localhost:10.0 --192.168.1.1:10.0 nothing seems to work. Any thoughts on how to fix this in Intrepid? Any idea what broke going from Gutsy to Intrepid (well, it broke first in Hardy, but continues to be broken in Intrepid)? I will attach several outputs. I have attached a log of my SSH session to this post. I have solved my problem, and will post the steps here. I'm not sure if this should be considered a 'wishlist' item, or if this is just how the operating system is supposed to work -- but it's very frustrating that this option is buried. I've posted the related steps to the Ubuntu forums and hopefully others looking to forward X11 sessions to their Hardy/Intrepid guests will find this information useful. For those of you struggling with this in Hardy or Intrepid (I'm pretty sure this isn't necessary in Gutsy): The default install of both Hardy and Gutsy are almost completely ready to act as X11 guests (that is, you log into a *nix server from your Ubuntu desktop, run a command, and a GUI program appears on your Ubuntu machine). The only steps needed are: [B]Enable TCP connections to Xserver (only need to do this once) -System Administration Login Window -Click the Security tab -Uncheck 'Deny TCP connections to Xserver' -Restart the Ubuntu computer[/B] Enable xauth forwarding (do this only once per Ubuntu session) -Open a terminal -Type 'xhost +' and press Enter Connect to the server (do this for every SSH session, obviously) -Open a terminal -Type 'ssh -X [EMAIL PROTECTED]' and press Enter Hope this saves some frustration! -- Intrepid X11 Forwarding Process Not Obvious to Enable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290747 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 290747] Re: Intrepid X11 Forwarding Process Not Obvious to Enable
Dustin- Thank you for the reply. I'm using Hardy/Intrepid as the guest, not the host. So the scenario is you open a terminal on the Intrepid machine, run 'ssh -X [EMAIL PROTECTED]' on the Intrepid machine, where 'host' is another Unix server (in my case Solaris 10). What I originally thought was a bug or deprecation of behavior is actually a setting that's buried in the Login Window security settings. By default, on a new installation, Hardy and Intrepid have the Deny TCP connections to Xserver setting checked. This prevents X11 programs on a foreign Unix host from appearing on your Ubuntu guest. The only reason I didn't ask to have this closed is after extensive googling, it is not obvious that this is the setting required to allow X11 sessions to be passed in to the Ubuntu guest. Once you unhceck this option, everything works as expected. I'm just hoping that documentation is updated (even if it is just people finding this bug report) that makes this setting more visible. [Bug 290901] [NEW] Update to 1.1.6 - important fix for broken header parser
Public bug reported: Dovecot 1.1.6 has just be released fixing an important bug: The invalid message address parsing bug is pretty important since it allows a remote user to send broken mail headers and prevent the recipient from accessing the mailbox afterwards, because the process will always just crash trying to parse the header. This is assuming that the IMAP client uses FETCH ENVELOPE command, not all do. Note that it doesn't affect versions older than v1.1.4. + dovecot -n and -a now prints some system information at the top. + More error/debug message logging improvements. - pop3-login: Fixed assert-crash if a client sent USER+PASS+USER+PASS commands in the same IP packet. - Parsing an invalid message address like From: ( caused an assert-crash in v1.1.4 and v1.1.5. - Folding whitespace wasn't handled correctly inside quoted-strings, causing some messages to be parsed incorrectly. - mbox: Fixed saving messages that begin with a valid From_-line. Only intrepid is affected. ** Affects: dovecot (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: dovecot (Ubuntu Intrepid) Importance: High Status: New ** Changed in: dovecot (Ubuntu Intrepid) Importance: Undecided = High -- Update to 1.1.6 - important fix for broken header parser https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290901 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dovecot in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 211631] Re: CIFS/SMBFS shares not unmounted before network is shut down
I just tried wiring up my lappy, which is up to date with the distribution sources, and I have the same issue using Network Manager as I had with the wireless. An interesting test would be to code the activation of the wireless network connection into the local startup/shutdown process and remove Network Manager to see what happens. That wouldn't be a preferred solution, though, because the advantage to wireless is the ability to switch hot spots on the fly with NM. If I get time this weekend I can give it a try -- work has got me pretty out straight during the week (probably why they call it work and not play -- though they are both 4 letter words ;-) -- CIFS/SMBFS shares not unmounted before network is shut down https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211631 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 56501] Re: xserver-xorg-driver-i810: Error in I830WaitLpRing(), now is -99922196, start is -99924197
Someone says this problem is fixed, but the problems I have experienced seem fairly similar. I'm running an HP Pavilion 522a with 1 GB RAM and using Intrepid Ibis (beta something). I tried this and that but pretty well nothing worked. In the end I just removed Hibernate from the shut down options. To me the option of doing an orthodox shut down was much more palatable and less harmful to the computer than trying to use Hibernate and then having to do a non-standard shutdown. I still have problems with the suspend to ram, but they now occur less frequently than before. The symptoms of the suspend to ram are the screen jitters or twitches after restoring from suspend to RAM. Also the line (EE) intel(0): underrun on pipe A! appears in the Xorg.0.log. For those who experience this problem this is about the best advice I can offer: Remove the Nvidia drivers, download pretty well every Intel graphics driver, and don't use Suspend. Along the way I accidentally lost gnome, so I had to install it again. I used the aptitude command as I read this was better than apt-get. I don't know if this had any relevance or not, although I suspect it didn't. I did have problems under Hardy with the ACPI and the kacpid hogging the processor, so Intrepid is a much better OS. I think the biggest problem is the Pavilion is quite an old computer and I suspect that has a lot to do with the problems I experienced. -- xserver-xorg-driver-i810: Error in I830WaitLpRing(), now is -99922196, start is -99924197 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/56501 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 95670] Re: [needs-packaging] Jabbin
Usually it's a requirement that the actual person who's affected files the change, when it is to do with things relating to user accounts. It's often safe that way, to ensure that the person really wants the change to be made. Thus, your comments are out of place - and are also quite antagonistic. I'd like to take the opportunity to remind you about the Ubuntu Code of Conduct, to which we ask all Ubuntu users to adhere, which can be found at http://www.ubuntu.com/community/conduct/ Thankyou. -- [needs-packaging] Jabbin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95670 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 258611] Re: Korganizer: Terrible delay in mouse action on calendar
Rigo, thanks for the input. That certainly moves us forward quite a bit. I think we can say the slow Calendar problem has been diagnosed. One could argue that Kontact ought to migrate all the existing events automatically but for now lets try to get to the root of the typing problem. I'm not sure what would cause this. It sounds like some kind of problem with keyboard input which suggests the X system but I can't think why it would be unique to kmail. You said earlier that Konqueror and dolphin behave themselves. What about Kate or Kwrite? I'm jut trying to think of applications where you do a decent amount of typing. [Bug 175829] Re: [Hardy]b43 wireless driver: WiFi LED is out when interface up and vice versa
der_vegi, since you are the original bug repoter, and have confirmed this is resolved for you I am marking this back to Fix Released. For those of you still experiencing issues it would be best to open a new bug as you likely have different hardware than the original reporter which will likely require a different fix.
