[Bug 286828] Re: CIFS share broken after upgrade from 8.04 - 8.10
I can confirm that shares work with kernel 2.6.25 from the intrepid repos. I still had to mount the shares with the nounix option. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-ports/+bug/291487 if you need to compile kernel modules with the 2.6.25 kernel. Downgrading the kernel and/or disabling UNIX extensions may not be an option for everybody. Any chance to get the patches mentioned in comment #26 into the repos? [Bug 299436] [NEW] Tomcat 6 should not implement the TearDown spec
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: tomcat6 Tomcat 6 currently implements the TearDown spec [1] which provides faster shutdown by avoiding the init script to be called at system shutdown or reboot, and instead rely on the processes being correctly terminated and killed by the sendsigs script. However, one might implement LifecycleListener callbacks in webapps that result in specific code being executed when Contexts are destroyed, and TearDown would bypass that feature. Therefore it would be preferable not to implement TearDown for Tomcat 6. [Bug 286828] Re: CIFS share broken after upgrade from 8.04 - 8.10
I looked at the wireshark trace in post #25 (by Alexey) and I see what looks like a server bug in this old version of Samba (Samba 3.0.25). Note that Samba 3.2.4 is current, and Samba 3.0.32 contains various highly recommended fixes (Released in August Samba 3.0.32 is the latest bug fix release for Samba 3.0 and is the version recommended for all production Samba servers running this release series) In frame 8 the client opens a file (imagehost.pl) which succeeds In frame 10 the client requests information on the same file which succeeds In frame 14 the client tries to set the file size on the same file and the server (incorrectly) returns STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND ... obviously that can't be correct because the server just gave the client info on the same file in the previous request and there is no delete in between. -- CIFS share broken after upgrade from 8.04 - 8.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/286828 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

The trace of the write failure in post 25 shows the server incorrectly rejecting an attempt to set the file size, so it is plausible that writes would work (also since writes are handle based not path based) but that the setting of file size explicitly would fail. Is this bug persistent through later versions of Samba as well or would an upgrade fix it? Re: [Bug 230887] Re: intel wifi iwl4965 faults also on Hardy
Ciao Leann and thank you for your note. I feel the bug was depending on the wi-fi alarm system which is installed on my house in the country : by the way only Ubuntu had got that problem not any other PC nor my same Samsung Q45 booted in Windows XP. For avoiding the problem in Hardy I go switch my laptop in the bathroom, where there is no alarm transmitter, then while the SSID is found and connected I can move all a round the house. I have tried the up-grade to the 8.10 but it was a DISASTER : no wi-fi not even the icon, no ALSA speaker+microphone and more faults that I had no time to face and check and preferred to reinstalled the 8.04. I will try the Ibex as soon as I will have time to face the incognito of it : I was really deluded and my trust on Ubuntu new release went really down, next time I will be more careful on the up-grade . the upgrade went KO and I had to install it from the ISO -CD then back again with the ISO-CD 8.04 . all the personalizations and extra added software had been LOST. Is there a way to install any extra sw on the /home partition so all my work won't be destroyed every time I have to reinstall from the live-cd ? Thank you for your assistance. Kindest regards Danny Leann Ogasawara ha scritto: Hi Danny, It looks like you reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any recent activity. [Bug 285682] Re: Ubuntu 8.10 can't mount digital camera
For what it may be worth. I reinstalled Intrepid last night, keeping home intact of course. This seems to have fixed the problems I was having with my Leica and Panasonic cameras. Somehow the updates were ineffective on my system until now. This might be a last resort for Leica and Panasonic users still having problems. -- Ubuntu 8.10 can't mount digital camera https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/285682 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 299366] [NEW] Intrepid 64Bit - CDRom readable/unreadable
Public bug reported: Hello there, i have a strange bug with my cdrom drive (which works perfectly under Windows). I can Install Ubuntu 8.10 64Bit from the drive, everything works. As soon as Ubuntu is installed the drive is acting strange. If i insert a CD, an Icon shows up, i can access the CD and see what files are on it. As soon as i try to install something, copy files or acces a folder on the drive, the CDRom drive freezes. Even with the ubuntu-disk i installed the OS from. I cant eject it, access it nothing. [Bug 299365] [NEW] xubuntu - screen brightness dims after screensaver initializes
Public bug reported: Xubuntu 8.10, all updates applied. After the screen saver has initialized and I come back from being away, the screen brightness is dimmed considerably. Xbacklight doesn't work and fn+right arrow is buggy. Fn+right arrow which controls screen brightness on my laptop does not work properly, if repeatedly tapping the right arrow (fast) it seems to get confused and the brightness goes up and down fast in succession. It does work if done slowly. If I hold down fn+right arrow the brightness does go to full light. No screen representation when using the function keys like in Gnome. xbacklight works fine after I manually put the screen at highest brightness slowly tapping fn+rightarrow. I don't know of this is one bug or two (or more) but at least here is the base report. Expected results: 1. Screensaver should un-dim the screen after it ends. 2. Fn key combo should not be picky as to how fast you tap the keys. 3. Xbacklight should work, it works right in Ubuntu 8.04LTS. [Bug 299245] Re: Evolution: delete trash with IMAP crashes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
