2009/3/8 Martin Pitt Dustin Kirkland [2009-03-07 14:57 -]: I'm afraid that it's probably too late in Jaunty to do that, but I'll leave that for the MIR-team. It's not a MIR process question, we have traditionally moved packages between components until the bitter end of a release (not that I *like* that, but it was just necessary). It's rather a question of who will maintain the package and whether we have the resources in the server team to support it. [Bug 156191] Re: Printing from Java does not work at all with cups 1.2
i'm using Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron), and the only work around that works for me is the one described by aurorius. basically, i couldn't find the Job Options tab. either i'm stupid, or else it is changed in my version of CUPS (which is 1.3.7-1ubuntu3). you can read my long description of the bug and fix here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6858372postcount=10 but all of this information is included above, or in references cited by the above listings. but i'll summarize the fix cited above: i'm using Ubuntu 8.04 (really Kubuntu 8.04) Hardy Heron. what i did was edit /etc/cups/printers.conf and add the line Option orientation-requested 3 just above /Printer everywhere it appears in the file. for example: ErrorPolicy retry-job + Option orientation-requested 3 /Printer you must be root to edit the file. to do this with sudo and vi: % sudo vi /etc/cups/printers.conf you should probably save a backup copy of the file before you edit it. after you edit the file you must restarts the Cups daemon. try: % sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys restart -- Printing from Java does not work at all with cups 1.2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156191 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 238542] Re: Firefox crashes when dragging menu item
Attached is a GDB log session for Firefox after it freezes. It was marginally more difficult to get it to freeze while running firefox in GDB: I had to wiggle the mouse more. It may have taken 20 seconds. Sadly, this log session has little useful data in it since Firefox's libraries seem to have practically no symbols, but perhaps it's useful to somebody. For reference, if someone else wants to reproduce this, you need to run firefox in GDB from either the console or another computer, since this bug will freeze your X11 session, preventing you from, say, using GDB. In either case, you would do this: 1. Go to console/other computer and log into your debug computer. 2. export DISPLAY=:0 3. firefox -g 4. run 5. Go back to X11, if you were on the console 6. Repro bug 7. [Bug 339449] [NEW] FeatureFreezeException: Merge mit-scheme with Debian
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mit-scheme The mit-scheme package has been uninstallable since Intrepid, due to some bad auto-generated dependencies (LP bug #288000). It also hasn't worked without some hacking around AppArmor since at least Hardy (LP bug #217792). Re-syncing the package from Debian Testing and rebuilding solves both of these problems. I think this merits a FeatureFreezeException simply because the chance of regression is 0 - the package is uninstallable now, so it can't regress. For this resync, I've updated the bootstrap image by using the binary package for mit-scheme 7.7.90+20090107-1 from squeeze, in order to keep the package more or less up to date. [Bug 339421] Re: devede lacks an entry in the gnome menu
I just installed DeVeDe in Jaunty, and it made an entry in GNOME's menu under Sound and Video. Additionally, there appears to be a .desktop file in the package for each current version of Ubuntu, which is the file that puts entries in GNOME's menu. Is that entry not there for you? if not, which version of Ubuntu are you using? ** Changed in: devede (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Incomplete -- devede lacks an entry in the gnome menu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/339421 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 268434] Re: Screen Resolution is not being restored after relogin
I've got same problem on COMPAQ S710 (CRT-0) Monitor using GeForce FX 5500 PCI video card. I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Gnome and KDE 4.2.00 Using System Settings-Display then resize it from 1280x1024 to 1024 x 768, then apply would work. But, when I re log-in it will switch back to previous setting. Solution: Since I installed restricted drivers in Gnome because I'm using NVidia drivers, I have the application NVIDIA X Server Settings. In Nvidia X Server Settings, I clicked X Server Display Configuration-Resolution-1024 x 768-Apply. Then I would Save To X Configuration File in home folder. Then, I would copy the saved xorg.conf file to /etc/X11, then re-login and it will work. Comment: It seems that the System Settings-Display won't save the file in xorg as root. hope this helps. -- Screen Resolution is not being restored after relogin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/268434 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdebase-workspace in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

Claudius, it would be good if someone had Ubuntu 8.04 installed to try it with that release, because it's an LTS version and since this bug had the importance wishlist it probably does not qualify for even backporting it (except for an LTS version eventually). [Bug 331952] Re: [HP 2133 MiniNote laptop] Unexpected and unrecoverable wireless disconnect with B43 driver
Hi, I am using Debian Squeeze with hybrid-postsrc-x86_32-v5_10_79_10.tar.gz driver, but I tried b43 as well. In both Debian and Kubuntu Intrepid, the behaviour is always the same as described above - it works and then, after few minutes, it disconnects forever.
