[Bug 310864] Re: [RS690M X1200] screen randomly blanks for short times

2009-03-16 Thread Martin Emrich
Hi!

I have the same problem here. I am running jaunty amd64 on a Gigabyte
GA-MA69GM-S2H mainboard (AMD 690G). With xserver-xorg-video-ati
(6.11.0+git20090310.945ccbbd-0ubuntu1) I get these random screen blanks
on my DVI output (the second VGA head is unaffected). Here, too, the
blanks occur more often and are longer if the system is under higher
load. 'Option DisplayPriority HIGH' did have no effect.

I just gave radeonhd a try, and I had no blanks for the last 20 minutes.
But with it I don't have XVideo or DRI, and even the 2D performance is
very low.

[Bug 343248] Re: gedit crashes when turning on Higlight Mode

2009-03-16 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. That's not reproducible with Jaunty and your crash report
is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please
follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your
crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-
file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where
_my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 343504] Re: (Xubuntu) xfce panel crashed then immediately opens

2009-03-16 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description
didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How
to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

In the future, when apport opens, please click the icon and report the
bug using apport. That will supply needed troubleshooting logs and
information for the developers.

Thanks!

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic

Always and reproducibly so, very early in the boot process, almost
immediately after picking the kernel from the GRUB menu. It actually
happens with the two earlier 2.6.27 kernel packages (linux-
image-2.6.27-7-generic, linux-image-2.6.27.9-generic) in the same way
(though exact trace output may vary).

I've attached the last screen full of output I get. I couldn't scroll
upwards. I had to photograph my monitor and type it out manually, so
I'll attach both formats of the trace in case I made an error. Please
advise how to produce a more complete trace.

[Bug 340478] Re: Regression: network-manager 0.7.1~rc3-0ubuntu1 cannot connect with mobile broadband. was ok with 0.7.1~rc1+20090220

2009-03-16 Thread Andrea Chiavazza
The connection is established only sometimes. This may be because of double
entries for the connection (see bug #339926), even though the connection that
works is not always the same (sometimes the 1st, sometimes the 2nd).
Furthermore, when I disconnect, sometimes I am unable to reconnect either of
them.

[Bug 309684] Re: Please sync exiv2-0.18 from Debian Experimental

2009-03-16 Thread Luka Renko
I would like to request FFe for exiv2 0.18. This version, released in
Dec 2008, provides major improvements in the area of write support
(added support for TIFF, DNG, NEF, PEF, PNG and JP2 images) and can
properly detect Canon lens types (before only Nikon). It would be really
good to have this version in Jaunty, as otherwise users will have to
wait for almost a year after release (Keramic) to have access to these
features.

This request for sync was requested before FF, but transition of all rdepends
took a bit of time. All rdepends issues have been resolved (pyexiv2 is still
pending FFe from motu-release - see previous comment).
Since January, I have also extensively tested exiv2 0.18 with two major
rdepends: digikam and ufraw. No regression was observed.

[Bug 343588] [NEW] Kubuntu Jaunty - System Monitor (ksysguard) showing different memory/cpu values and graphs than top

2009-03-16 Thread Musthafa Meeran
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ksysguard

Hi,
KDE 4 System monitor is showing wrong values of memory/cpu utilization in
graphs under System Load tab.

For the memory and swap usage, 'top' command shows very high usage
values, whereas ksysguard shows very less values.

For the cpu usage, the values shown in Process Table and System Load
never match (even after multiplying the Process Table cpu % values by 2,
to consider dual core) !

The wrong values in ksysguard are misleading to the user, since 'top'
shows the correct usage.

Thanks a lot...

ProblemType: Bug

[Bug 343618] [NEW] New cache flush progress window misplaced and has truncated text

2009-03-16 Thread David Barth
Public bug reported:

The new progress window displayed when gnome-mount is flushing write
caches has three issues.

1. The window should be mapped at the center of the screen and not at
the bottom right corner. There's no use trying to mimic the old
notification daemon (especially with the straciatella session support
you added ;) (see 1st screenshot)

2. The window should have a window icon similar to the dialog icon (see
2nd screenshot)

3. The last part of the window text should be wrapped. The initial text
was wrapped correctly, however when gnome-mount eventually tells the
user that the device is now safe to remove, that text is truncated
(see 1st screenshot too)

All issues reported as a single bug, as they are minor design tweaks.

Noel, could you please describe the breakage with apcupsd in Jaunty in

[Bug 133688] Re: Changing 'view as' on a completed search restarts the seach again

2009-03-16 Thread jay armstrong
I'll confirm having this issue in 8.10 (and 8.04). I thought it might
have been carried over with my settings but I just tested it in a fresh
Intrepid 32bit install (before and after updating) and it hasn't been
fixed.

Is it coming in a future release?

[Bug 267390] Re: [needs-packaging] SocNetV - Social Networks Visualizer

2009-03-16 Thread Dimitris Kalamaras
Yes, but that package contains a way too old version. SocNetV now heads for
version 0.52.
Furthermore, the project offers regularly updated Ubuntu packages. Isn't it
better we sync with those instead of the old, debian experimental ones?

[Bug 331347] Re: Evolution alarm notification does not persist after snooze and reboot

2009-03-16 Thread gidantribal
yes, it is an issue and not a blocker, but at the same time for people who use
Evolution for productivity and at work (like me) it is a remarkable bug.
Calendars and appointment management are not a secondary feature in Evolution.
I mean, as far as I'm concerned, I had to migrate to Outlook and abandon
Evolution after I lost some appointments... and even if it's a great software.
As you all can understand this is quite disappointing.

[Bug 334101] Re: FFe: Xv and EXA not supported on R6xx/R7xx chipsets

2009-03-16 Thread Sam Liddicott
I'm guessing that by the driver you mean an ati driver which was
probably the closed source fglrx.

The answer is; It still works just as well, except that Jaunty is using
a later release of Xorg, and ATI haven't released a build of their
driver that matches; and so it doesn't work on the current Xorg in
Jaunty.

THIS driver is new-ish and has always been poor on newer hardware AFAIK,
it's just that more people are having to use it sooner than they thought
because ATI are taking their time releasing their closed source driver.

Some people are using the old intrepid Xorg server so they can keep
using the closed source drivers.

[Bug 334101] Re: FFe: Xv and EXA not supported on R6xx/R7xx chipsets

2009-03-16 Thread Tiago Sousa
Same thing here, I've replaced drm.ko and radeon.ko as said on X.org wiki and
I'm using the drivers from tormod (6.11+git from march 14). I had to purge all
fglrx packages, and I now have Xv video acceleration ;)
I'll report on any issues I find.

[Bug 343608] [NEW] Tutorial and User Guides do not work.

2009-03-16 Thread magnoliasouth
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wink

Obtained Wink via Add/Remove in Hardy Heron and is Wink 1.5.

After launching Wink I clicked Help User Guide and I got this message:

The user guide is present at /usr/lib/wink/docs/Wink User Guide.pdf.
Please view it using your PDF viewer.

Aha, this is not true. There is no such directory as /usr/lib/wink/docs/
and looking through all the folders at /usr/lib/wink, I cannot find a
pdf file at all.

So I decided to try the tutorial. I clicked Help Tutorial 1 and I got
this message:

This project does not have a rendered output file. Do you want to render
now?

Not sure. Well I click Yes anyway and then get:

Cannot create output file /usr/lib/wink/Samples/tutorial.swf

I think, okay, so maybe the second tutorial will work. I clicked Help
Tutorial 2 and I got the same messages from Tutorial 1.

I am completely lost. I cannot find anything to help me to figure out
how to use it. I am assuming that this is a bug. Am I wrong?
