[Bug 348627] Re: motd disappears when using PasswordAuthentication in OpenSSH server
It seemed to be the UsePAM setting that made it. When UsePAM is returned to the default 'yes' everything is fine. For some reason (a tutorial on slicehost.com :-)) I set the UsePAM to 'no' without knowing why. Maybe this isn't the right place to explain why that happened but if anyone would like to do that feel free to contact me. -- motd disappears when using PasswordAuthentication in OpenSSH server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/348627 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 271777] Re: Exit status 127 when starting openvpn when its already started.
Hardy SRU Report Bug impact: When openvpn is already started, trying to start it using the init script results in exit status 127. This can impact heartbeat deployments as mentionned in comment 5. Versions affected: Hardy (openvpn initscript was rewritten in Intrepid) Minimal patch: see comment 6 just above. Thanks for reporting this bug ! After some research, Apple Time Capsule is implementing its own CIFS server, with lots of issues. On a similar kind of issue, James Peach, an Apple developer working on the Samba project, recommended[1] following this procedure: Go to http://developer.apple.com/bugreporter/ and log a bug against the TIme Capsule. It would be best to attach a packet trace to the bug. Follow the instructions here: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Capture_Packets This is probably not a bug in Ubuntu Samba since only Time Capsule shows this behavior. [Bug 305264] Re: gnutls regression: failure in certificate chain validation
Mathias, in regards to the wiki you linked above, my preference when debugging these issues is to recommend debug level 7, which includes packet traces, instead of debug 1. It's much better (to me) to be able to see all the traffic, which includes the raw transfer of certificates and their DER DNs, when tracking down TLS problems. -- gnutls regression: failure in certificate chain validation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305264 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openldap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 216358] Re: Samba crashes repeatedly to assert_uid
Thanks Anders, I should have seen this Read more... link. For me, this helps to know if samba logs have the following line: setresuid failed with EAGAIN. But the latest ppa1 version probably won't do that, you'd have to revert to plain samba first. And the Samba log are many files by default because of the: log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m inside /etc/samba/smb.conf file. Removing .%m at the end should allow to put all messages in one file, which could make it easier to grep EAGAIN on it. The idea is that this give a clue as if it have failed for permissions errors (no EAGAIN), or because of EAGAIN error, which is much more harder to understand why. But as current code, only show this #if USE_SETRESUID then not seeing EAGAIN message is not that much a clear information. Slightly rewriting that part could help a lot I guess. I am not too used to that kind of programming, but I guess I could try to write a little patch that would help to pinpoint the problem. (without really fixint it... although it could fix it). -- Samba crashes repeatedly to assert_uid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216358 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 339966] Re: dangerous action: dovecot-postfix force-installs new conf file
This patch covers all situations I could think off: - install of dovecot-postfix on top of already working dovecot and postfix - removing dovecot-postfix in this case would bring back configuration of postfix from before installation and would rename dovecot-postfix.conf, so that real dovecot.conf would be used - removing dovecot-postfix doesn't delete user made changes, but it does remove postfix-dovecot integration (postfix's configuration is reset to the state before the package was installed) - on reinstall of dovecot-postfix user made changes are returned and diff against default configuration is provided to the user; integration is back again - purging dovecot-postfix removes all dovecot related configuration from dovecot-postfix package and resets postfix's configuration to the state before the package was installed - upgrade of dovecot-postfix ** Attachment added: lp-339966-2.debdiff http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24379716/lp-339966-2.debdiff -- dangerous action: dovecot-postfix force-installs new conf file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/339966 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dovecot in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I did however pressed get mail button 6 or 7 times (every 5-10 sec). And even that failed to show for approx. 1 min, until high disk activity stopped. All 4 mails show the same content - that same old mail, that i do not even seem to have anymore. I'm not out of disk space (over 10 G free). [Bug 348825] [NEW] Entire application hangs, incl. firefox while installing flash player and it cannot be installed.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0 Hi All, While using Firefox in Ubuntu, I am facing this bug time n again. I need to install flash player (to view various webpages like youtube, etc.) and a link called click to download additional plug-ins is coming. Whenever I'm clicking on the link and trying to install the flash player nothing is happening and firefox is not responding. So I have to opt for a force quit. I tried installing the same through add/remove option after downloading Linux-version of flash player. Then also the same thing prevails. I have to opt for force-quit. Hence, in either case I'm unable to install flash player which I need very urgently. Pl. look into it and suggest a fruitful way out. Regards, Api. ** Affects: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Entire application hangs, incl. firefox while installing flash player and it cannot be installed. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/348825 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 348639] Re: typos in failsafeXinit
Having just looked at your Git commits, you still haven’t addressed Kees’s comment: “I would also note that mktmp is a typo of mktemp. Rather than using /tmp explicitly, the -t argument is recommended. i.e. mktemp -t xorg.conf.” or my repeated security concern: “Finally, are you SURE that a malicious user can’t gain any kind of unauthorized access by editing xorg.conf?” Less importantly, the line “cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf ${xorg_conf_tmp}” is now redundant because ${xorg_conf_tmp} is overwritten by the following zenity command. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed = Confirmed -- typos in failsafeXinit https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/348639 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
