[Bug 379878] Re: Dangling symlink /usr/src/vboxdrv-2.2.2 caused by installing virtualbox-2.2, virtualbox-ose-source, then virtualbox-ose
This fix was dumb, sorry: we should not conflict with something we provide ourself. Since virtualbox-ose-source does not really provide virtualbox etc, I've looked into Replaces instead, but which did not work (same result; probably due to the symlink). I'm going to rollback the Conflicts and file an upstream bug instead, that they should Provide: virtualbox-source (which they actually are doing). Another way out of this might be to remove the Provides for virtualbox-2* (I'm unsure about if that makes actually much sense, and/or gives any benefit) and re-add the conflict. [Bug 252094] Re: MASTER: Poor graphics performance on Intel
@bouazza: I means that Tux Racer now runs at 25-35 FPS instead of 1-2 in Jaunty. Just by adding UXA it was only 10-25 FPS. I followed ALL the Bleeding-Edge Configuration steps in the guide, else the performances was almost unchanged; but the configuration and the result may depend on your graphic card. In default Jaunty some games under Wine are unplayable: even enabling UXA didn't help. Of course I don't mean to play current 3D Windows games on a little i945 and I don't expect to get the same performances under Wine. Anyway that guide made them playable again. I don't remember the exact Wine performances on Hardy, but Jaunty with this changes seem faster. Tux Racer is faster for sure (it was around 15 FPS). Compiz effects are no longer choppy and the 2D is also OK (it don't looks slower than Windows), so I no longer miss Hardy. -- MASTER: Poor graphics performance on Intel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/252094 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Your problem is caused by mixing Debian and Ubuntu packages and expecting them to work without any problems. kvm is not the only package that you are having this problem with. If you look at your own output from 'apt-get upgrade' you will see that both the ntp and pulseaudio packages are not installing correctly. You need to replace the sysv-rc Debian package with the Ubuntu one, and then check if there are other Debian packages installed on your Ubuntu machine and replace those. Then you will have an Ubuntu machine that might have a chance of working. -- apt-get/aptitude fails to install KVM via recommended update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/375825 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 380090] [NEW] Tomboy retains ugly default gtk look in KDE 4
Public bug reported: This might be a duplicate of #360131, but I'm not sure. I have KDE 4 configured so that GTK apps use the same style and font as KDE apps. For the most part, when not running and app as root, this works fine. For instance gnome-terminal blends in very well. However this is not the case with Tomboy, which has that large, chunky, default GTK look. Even if I launch gnome-panel and change the style and fonts to something more KDE-like, Tomboy does not pick up on this. I should probably add that I also experience problems when running gnome apps as root, although I imagine this would be a completely separate problem. For instance Synaptic usually has the same ugly look as Tomboy, although sometimes it switches to the preferences I set by running gnome-panel as root for no reason I can discern. What should happen, of course, is that Tomboy should look nice in KDE. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Tomboy retains ugly default gtk look in KDE 4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/380090 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

In your case this is not what happens, so I have removed the crash tag and changed the title. What happens (see bottom of the last Xorg.0.log) is that the driver doesn't detect anything on the VGA connector, gets a bit confused and says no screens (because it doesn't know where to display an image) and the exits gracefully. I have a few more questions: 1. What is the exact model of your Samsung TV? 2. Exactly how is it connected to the computer? Is there a VGA cable attaching them directly or are there any adapters involved? And I would ask you to try the following: 3. Try the 2.7.1 driver from the x-updates personal private archive (PPA) at https://edge.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates . Is the bug fixed there? 4. If it isn't, could you add the line Option ModeDebug true to the Device section of your xorg.conf, log out and in again and attach the resulting Xorg.0.log here. The ModeDebug option should give some more information about what the driver is up to. If you are ready for some hard-core testing, you may also try the xorg- edgers PPA which have the very newest drivers from the development tree. This has a higher chance of breaking something, but if you don't mind reinstalling afterwards it should be fine. https://launchpad.net/~xorg- edgers/+archive/ppa ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- [i945G] Samsung TV not detected on VGA output (no screens) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/379157 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 380095] [NEW] mplayer repeated audio on OSS
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mplayer In output to my USB audio device, mplayer starts (CLI mode), and I hear the initial several seconds of audio played, even though the time counter doesn't update. Then the song restarts, this time with the counter running. The song will now play correctly. At end of song, often the last several seconds of audio will play repeatedly, again with the counter not moving. This seems new to the Jaunty timeframe. Note I've verified that OSS use of, say, mpg123 will play OK. Workaround is to run pulseaudio and then have mplayer output through pulseaudio. But it'd be nice if mplayer went back to correctly handling OSS output. [Bug 371420] Re: Video corruption after 9.04 upgrade
I've tried to do those instructions without success. But after that I've tried another thing and I've dicovered that what was wrong was my laptop configurations. I have 768 RAM memory. I decided to see these configurations in the setup of the laptop. I could see that the video memory I could use 16, 32 or 64MB and it was configurated to 32MB and I changed to the top, 64MB and the graphic memory could use 32, 64 or 128MB and I did the same, changed to the top, 128MB. After that, the problems desapeared. The images became perfects. Thank you very much for trying to help me. [Bug 377467] Re: gnome keyring no longer acts as ssh agent on login
This is broken even worse in XFCE. GNOME Keyring is obviously being started via GDM in --login mode, but then the --start part is not being done by default due to /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-daemon.desktop having OnlyShowIn=GNOME. After I remove that line, I can see it's printing GNOME_KEYRING_SOCKET=/tmp/keyring-7zOY9J/socket SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/keyring-7zOY9J/socket.ssh in my ~/.xsession-errors, but $SSH_AUTH_SOCK is set to something like /tmp/ssh-qHvvfg4613/agent.4613, I think due to /etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc:115 if test -z $SSH_AGENT_PID -a $sshagent -a x$sshagent != xno; then which should be testing SSH_AUTH_SOCK, not SSH_AGENT_PID, and perhaps because GNOME Keyring Agent can't modify XFCE's environment in the way it can modify GNOME environment? The workaround I've found for that is to put: eval $(gnome-keyring-daemon --start) export SSH_AUTH_SOCK in my ~/.profile inside if test -n $GNOME_KEYRING_PID This is truely nasty stuff. -- gnome keyring no longer acts as ssh agent on login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/377467 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
