[Bug 397203] Re: ldap.so missing from package

2009-07-10 Thread Aaron J. Zirbes
My version of samba is 2:3.3.2-1ubuntu3 on Ubuntu Server 9.04

I did an SVN checkout of the debian samba package, and the problem is
there as well.

I'm not sure where to post my fix to get this pushed upstream to the
debian package, but the diffs above fix it.

Should I report this bug via debian? I could install a debian system,
and run reportbug if needed.

[Bug 394350] Re: RLimitCPU has no effect in Apache

2009-07-10 Thread Neil Van Dyke
I have just reproduced the problem with a fresh install with latest
updates, and kept a detailed log as I did so. Perhaps someone can spot
something I am doing wrong? I would assume that I'm doing something
wrong, except comparable things work on Debian and with upstream, and my
users also experienced the problem independently before I did. A fresh
pair of eyes on this would be appreciated!

[Bug 397664] Re: Totem (xine) Plugins don't work in Opera

2009-07-10 Thread Bachsau
I already discussed this with the Opera developers, and it's clearly a
problem with the plugins.

Karmic will contain totem-xine, like every version bevore. - Rightly, as
Gstreamer is wholly crap.

Please stop closing every bug so fast. If you always close almost every
bug as invalid directly, this will be the last bug I bother to report.
It's importance may be low, and it's cause may be unknown, but it's
exists, so it isn't invalid. I won't waste my time contributing to a

[Bug 355155] Re: Clocksource tsc unstable leads to lockups in Ubuntu Jaunty

2009-07-10 Thread NightWolf
Somehow I overcame the problem.

I was (and I am practically) still having freezes, when I wanted to test
something. I just wanted to see what happens to the sound, when a freeze
occur. So I installed vlc, and was listening to music every day. I made
sure that music never stops, even when I was away from keyboard. But no
luck, no freeze occured.

I was thinking that might have been a lucky day. So I was testing this
out 2-3 days in a row, and I had no freeze at all. Then when I stopped
vlc for a moment (changing playlist) the system froze. I thought that
might have been unlucky sequence of events, so back to testing. No
freeze again.

So I thought maybe this might be sound related (at least in my case). I
must admit, when I installed Jaunty sound didn't work well. I could
listen to music somehow, but there were no system sounds, only the
warning sound, but that also came from the speaker of my motherboard
(even when thunderbird checked for emails).

Anyway, I visited Realtek's site, downloaded the latest alsa driver,
installed it. Next time I booted, everything worked. System sounds,
music and video playback, youtube, etc.

Now I have found a better music player (mpd), which uses less resources
(and fits more to my problem). But still, there were no freezes. Then
once, when I was changing music in Sonata (client for mpd) I got a
freeze again. But not while listening to music.

So far, I've got this system working for over a month now. I don't say,
that it's a solution, but hey, if I can use Ubuntu I'm okay with it. I'm
bound to listen to music all day? I don't care, I just need a bigger
jukebox.

To be precise, I still have sound problems. Sometimes alsa crashes while
playing music or watching a video. Sometimes I need to restart it,
sometimes I have to reinstall it. But even if I have to do that, I'm
still happy using Jaunty instead of XP (20 second boot time, I love this
os). It's faster reinstalling alsa, rebooting, than using windows every
day (slow boot, lots of programs to load, etc.). Anyway, if anybody
experiencing the same thing as I did try listening music every day. And
if anybody knows the solution to my sound problem, please contact me.

By the way @bryncoles: no, compiz is not the culprit (in my case). When
I first wanted to get rid of the problem I tried everything: no update,
no drivers installed, no additional programs installed, and the
combinations of these three. But didn't worked for me. I even tried
Kubuntu, but was still freezing (before installing any updates of
softwares). Maybe I should have give a try to Mint, but now the problem
is gone (or at least it's on vacation), I don't want to reinstall again.

[Bug 391757] Re: Nautilus hangs when clicking on preview images

2009-07-10 Thread Friedrich Graeter
The problem is, that this bug does look like a crash of Nautilus, since
nautilus hangs completely, unless the thread completely rendered the
SVG. Since SVG and Inkscape gains on popularity it is a real issue for
everyone, who wants to make image processing on Ubuntu.

It's also a little bit strange, why Nautilus crashes, only when opening
another file (using double-click or right-click and Open). Why doesn't
it hang already when creating the thumbnail of other files?

For me it looks like that there is some small locking issue inside
Nautilus when opening files during a thumbnail is generated...

[Bug 397901] [NEW] Asked to unmount the installing device

2009-07-10 Thread Curtor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: partman-base

Release: Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit Server

Installing from USB key caused the installer to prompt the option to unmount
the USB key and install to it.
Doing so is clearly bad news, and this should not be an option, as shown in bug
#276656.

This is still occurring though in the specific case where /cdrom is a
loop-mount from a file on a certain filesystem, rather than being a
mount of that filesystem directly.

It looks like the mount-filtering code isn't smart enough to deal with
loop mounts.

So any of the packages can be pushed into public repository.

Looking forward for the bug to be closed soon.

[Bug 310760] Re: Built-in microphone on Lenovo USB webcam doesn't work when hald is running

2009-07-10 Thread Etienne Goyer
Keng-Yü,

It works! I have just tested in hardy, and both the camera and
microphone works at the same, without using the HAL policy suggested by
Leann. Basically, with the kernel you built, the camera and microphone
works in any application (arecord, VLC, etc), and keep on working across
unplug/replug.

I have not tested on Jaunty, as we are moving today and we are in a bit
of a crunch, but I will try to do that and confirm Monday.

AceLan: Now that you are saying that, it is true that I never saw the LED lit
up. As far as I am concerned, I would rather have the microphone working even
if the LED doesn't. It would be a start!

Thanks profusely again for all the time you put into that one. It is very
appreciated.

This happens too in 9.04 with alternate install and amd64 cd.

While it was a bug at the time this report was originally filed, I don't
think this is a bug in modern environments. Nowadays, X is generally
expected to be able to autodetect things with an empty xorg.conf, and if
it doesn't then it counts as a bug in X rather than in the installer.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingXAutoconfiguration and the
various links under that may help.

[Bug 298085] Re: maildrop is compiled without authlib extension !

2009-07-10 Thread Malcolm Scott
I suspect the problem to be lines 116-119 of maildrop/configure.in:

if test -d ${srcdir}/../courier
then
COURIERAUTHCONFIG=
fi

This check was added since the version of courier in hardy and appears
to disable authlib support if maildrop is being built as part of the
courier package (as it is here, before being split out into separate
packages). I'm not sure why it does this!

[Bug 397909] [NEW] OpenOffice.org dictionary doesn't know own suggests

2009-07-10 Thread Christian A. Reiter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I use the German dic, but maybe that works (or - doesn't work!) for
others neither:

1. Just type the word Hochschul- (with the minus at the end) as part of e.g.
Hochschul-Ausbildung (high school education). - OpenOffice.ord underlines
the word red, marking it as wrong.
2. right-click on Hochschul- - OpenOffice.org office suggests exactly the
same word as correction - and if you choose that, it is still marked wrong.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04

Package: openoffice.org-core 1:3.0.1-9ubuntu3

as part of it, so it suggests Hochschul- instead of Hochschul -
leading to a corrected Hochschul-- - Hochschul--- etc.

[Bug 394490] Re: xrandr: Configure crtc 0 invalid time

2009-07-10 Thread tomwu
The xrandr problem appeared after the update from xserver-xorg-video-
intel Version 2:2.7.99.901+git20090630.cec9fc6f-0ubuntu0sarvatt~jaunty
to 2:2.7.99.901+git20090701.1e4784bf-0ubuntu0sarvatt~jaunty.

So 20090630 worked fine. Starting with 20090701, and in all following versions
xrandr doesn't work.
The only thing that works is switching off the laptop screen with xrandr
--output LVDS --off. But I can't switch it on again. Trying this, I get:
xrandr --output LVDS --auto
xrandr: Configure crtc 1 invalid time

I don't use KMS.

[Bug 396762] Re: 'import ldtp' freezes interpreter

Also, I did an strace on the python process and saw this:
Process 2752 attached - interrupt to quit
futex(0x891106c, FUTEX_WAIT_PRIVATE, 1, NULL^C unfinished ...

I'm not sure at the moment if this is more likely to be an issue with

2009-07-10 Thread Steve Langasek
Opened a new task on the kernel package; it's not clear if the
disassociation of the rfkill interface from /sys/class/net/$device/ is
deliberate.

If need be, we can update this to look at
/sys/class/net/$device/../../ieee80211/phy*/rfkill*/, but any time the
kernel folks would like to settle on a stable interface would be just
fine with me.

[Bug 397211] Re: Shiretoko user agent string breaks compatibilty with major websites

2009-07-10 Thread Ryan
If you use a User Agent Switcher https://www.citicards.com works,
otherwise the flash over the login box prevents logging in. (But this
isn't specific to 3.5) Workaround for this site is to manually
right click to play the flash without looping, then after it plays once
you can login. citicards web staff = not so good...

[Bug 345166] Re: Tomboy tries to load fuse module in Jaunty...and can't

2009-07-10 Thread Loïc Minier
This was included in tomboy 0.15.1 and hence was fixed by this upload to karmic:
tomboy (0.15.2-0ubuntu1) karmic; urgency=low

  * Upload to Karmic from Debian's git repository due to delays (lp: #381101)
  * New upstream release 0.15.1:
   - New WebSync add-in syncs to any server that implements the Tomboy Web REST
API,
such as Snowy [http://live.gnome.org/Snowy]. Baby-eating preview release.
   - Require Mono 1.9.1 to *build* Tomboy. Should still run on older Mono.
   - Prevent PATH problems on Windows from breaking Tomboy.
   - Search for phrases by quoting search text.
   - Fix dragdrop middle-click paste of linked text.
   - Save width of notebook pane in Search window.
   - Disable sync menu items until backend configured.
   - Close note find bar on escape, even when not focused.
   - Support FUSE being built-in to kernel.
   - Prevent crashes when reading unexpected note XML.
   - Change Open New Note Template LinkButton to Button to prevent error.
   - Focus search field every time Search window summoned.
   - Only show Start Here note on first run if not running as applet.
   - HIG compliance in Sync preferences.
   - Use correct info icon in add-in info windows.
   - Use relative path to load help.
   - Cache frequently-used text tags in one place instead of five.
   - Documentation updates.
   - Translation updates: el, es, et, gl
  * New upstream release 0.15.2:
   - Fix HTML Export on Mac OS X.
   - Translation updates: es, et, nb, sv, zh_CN
  * debian/control: Add help/ as GFDL 1.1+.
  * debian/rules: Remove --repack; not necessary as upstream is a .tar.gz and
could cause rule to be nondeterministic

Yes, this issue still exists in 9.04 with kernel 2.6.28-13
Plus: The all_generic_ide option isn't supported anymore, maybe the generic ide

Kinda annoying this issue...

[Bug 383697] Re: lsb_release crashed with ImportError in module()
