[Bug 420277] [NEW] ldap tls refusing to initialize
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libldap-2.4-2 Trying to run a slapd server in Ubuntu 9.04, generally following the docs at: https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/serverguide/C/openldap- server.html. It works fine until I try and use certificates as per the section TLS and SSL on that page. Then, if I try and start using /etc/init.d/slapd it tells me to start using the debugging flags. If I then do so with the command: sudo slapd -d -1 -h 'ldap:/// ldapi:/// ldaps:///' -g openldap -u openldap -F /etc/ldap/slapd.d/ At the end of copious output is: main: TLS init def ctx failed: -1 slapd destroy: freeing system resources. slapd stopped. Additionally they have Signature Algorithm: RSA-SHA. I wonder if it is related to a cipher suite specification, given http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=541256. Though I tried setting 'olcTLSCipherSuite: +AES-256-CBC:+SHA1' in the cn=config.ldif file, to no avail. I don't know how to get the more detailed information from TLS, I only see the 'main: TLS init def ctx failed: -1' line. Is this another issue with the gnutls specifications? Re: [Bug 360894] Re: [LENOVO 64606YG] intermittent suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]
There are still infrequent crashes, about once every week, typically a failure to suspend completely, suspend light blinks. But the automatic crash report fails, i.e. it seems to refuse to recognize the 30-10 kernel as a genuine Ubuntu package. I will be happy to send a report with the relevant dumps, if someone can point me to doc on how to do it manually. Rgds Jon Eliot wrote: There have been apparent and welcome improvements, but yes, there still are problems. Changed to kernel 2.6.30-10 today, so I will add an update in about a week on how things are going with a real workload on that kernel. The procedure to provoke a freeze in either suspend or resume from suspend: 1) Use the machine with an external monitor (I normally use SubSection Display Virtual3840 1200 EndSubSection in xorg.conf, but it does not seem to matter what is in there for this bug) 2) Suspend the machine and take it out of the docking station (Optional: go home after work ;-).) 3) Resume the machine as a standalone laptop. Change the display to 1920 1200. 4) Suspend the machine. (Optional: go back to work the next morning.) 5) Resume the machine in the docking station. Change the display to 3840 1200. 6) Repeat steps 2-5 a small number of times. The number of repeats used to be less than 1, ie. the first resume or the second suspend in the docking station normally failed, or even the first resume at home. Now the number of successful repeats is typically something like 5, which means normally one week at a time without any trouble (at least after I changed the GdmXserverTimeout to 20). [Bug 419715] [NEW] blurry characters, not with xpdf
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince Good morning, It is the first time I submit a bug report, or ever have the feeling that I am speaking to the Ubuntu community, so first of all, thank you all for your work ! I have been using Ubuntu for quite some time now, and have a lot of pleasure in doing so. So the problem is that for some pdf's, the rendering of Evince is poor. Characters appear blurry at all scales, and such a thing does not happen when viewed with xpdf. Attached is a screenshot of the views given by evince and xpdf of the following pdf : http://www.projecteuclid.org/DPubS/Repository/1.0/Disseminate?handle=euclid.aoms/1177700291view=bodycontent-type=pdf_1 (see the link PDF file at the bottom of the page). I have a fresh install of Jaunty (9.04) on an HP Pavilion laptop. I have already experienced this problem on an earlier version of Ubuntu, and on a Dell Inspiron laptop. My current version of Evince is 2.26.1, with poppler 0.10.5 (cairo). Most documents work just fine, but this problem is not unique to the pdf I mention here. Looking for some earlier reference about this problem, I found this one : https://bugs.launchpad.net/evince/+bug/20310 The guy emphasizes that Evince is slow. I also had the feeling that when characters were blurry, Evince was notably slowier than usually, or as compared to xpdf on the same document (non blurry, fast). Ok, I think I gave you all the information I had ! Thanks again. [Bug 419403] Re: No youtube search option
Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Sometimes Firefox profiles can become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? [Bug 359868] Re: [Acer, inc. Aspire 4530] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]
I don't know how applicable this piece of advice is to this issue, because I am using Fedora 11 with the 2.6.29.6-217.2.16.fc11.x86_64 kernel (i.e. on a 64-bit install). In any case, I was trying to solve the occasional flickering that I was noticing and came across this site: http://www.ubuntusolutions.org/2009/02/screen-flickering-with-nvidia-on-ubuntu.html Specifically, the advice that proved useful was to add the following lines to /etc/modprobe.d/options (actually, any file in the /etc/modprobe.d/ directory; e.g. I used /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia): options nvidia NVreg_RegistryDwords='PerfLevelSrc=0x' options nvidia NVreg_Mobile=1 Apparently, the equivalents of these registry values from the Windows driver are not enabled by default in Fedora (and I suppose not in Ubuntu, either, because I have never been able to resume successfully from suspend in Ubuntu or Fedora until now). Perhaps pci=nomsi is also needed, although I haven't checked if that option is needed. For me, when both the modprobe lines and the kernel option are active, I can suspend and resume using the nvidia driver successfully, and access my disks as well, which I couldn't do before, even with the pci=nomsi kernel option. I'm just posting this here because it might help some of the reporters of this bug. I will do more experiments later. -- [Acer, inc. [Bug 419728] [NEW] Huge HighContrastInverse icons cluttering windows and menus
Public bug reported: Hi, In ubuntu 9.04, the HighContrastInverse set of icons from gnome-themes- extras are very huge; they completely clutter the windows icons, menus, and the main panel. This makes an environment of a mix of huge and *relatively* small set of icons, which isn't approachable. Please check the screenshots. This one is using ubuntu 9.04 defaults + gnome-themes-extras using the High Contrast Inverse icon set. Please note the huge volume and logout icons in the bottom panel, the huge trash icon in the file menu, and the unreasonlbly huge icons in Nautilus toolbar. [Bug 371512] Re: [CLE266] [jaunty] Cannot create openchrome XvMC Surface in mythfrontend
After spending quite some time investigating this issue, with the conclusion that changes in the way XvMC VLD is used in mythtv is the likely source of this problem. The fact that xine runs smoothly also indicates in this direction. The message Unable to create XvMC Surface. is actually harmless in the way that mythtv uses it, but set me on the wrong foot completely. I was trying to find out the differences in the way mythtv and xine use XvMC when pressure from the family forced me to revert to running the previous version (mythbuntu 7.10 on the backend --now unsupported -- and mythdora 4.0 on the frontend). Things I tried: 1. When upgrading the frontend to mythbuntu 7.10 (years ago) things didn't work smoothly, so back then I decided to use mythdora 4.0. Therefore I tried mythdora 10.21, but unfortunately this gave me the same kinds of errors. See http://www.mythdora.com/?q=node/4768. 2. Since by now I was convinced that this is a mythtv related problem, I asked some questions on the mythtv users mailing list http://www .gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/381950?#381950, http://www .gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/383536?#383536 with no final resolution. 3. I decided to file a bug report on mythtv, but that quickly went nowhere.http://cvs.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/6624 After this I threw in the towel. I'm still running mythbuntu 7.10 and mythdora 4.0, but I still would very much like to upgrade -- especially since 7.10 is now longer supported, making it impossible to install additional packages. ** Bug watch added: mythtv.org bug tracker #6624 http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/6624 -- [CLE266] [jaunty] Cannot create openchrome XvMC Surface in mythfrontend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/371512 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
