[Bug 436253] Re: fails to load libc.so.6 (apparmor profile trouble)

2009-09-25 Thread Tormod Volden
(Right, do not know why I filed it on n-m). FYI, I tried rerunning
/etc/init.d/apparmor but it did not help. It also seems like the
/etc/network/if-pre-up/dhclient-apparmor script runs fine. I suspect
problems dealing with union file systems. I remember seeing a workaround
for something sounding similar in a changelog.

[Bug 432154] Re: dynamic block device attach/detach not functional with karmic KVM

2009-09-25 Thread Jamie Strandboge
My crash after several iterations turns out to be not intermittent at
all. I decided to add a counter and see how many times I could
attach/detach before the crash. Interestingly, it is 28 times, every
time. Attached is an updated reproducer with the counter and an added
'sleep 30' after starting the VM to give it a chance to fully boot
before attach/detach. This crash feels like a different bug than
Daniel's.

[Bug 433885] Re: installation of mysql-server and phpmyadmin failed while system under stress

2009-09-25 Thread Kamus
phpmyadmin can't be configured because need a msysql-server configured
and running without issues, if you see your dpkg output, you can see
that mysql-server is not correctly configured or something happened in
initscript. Did you tried to reinstall mysql or was a fresh install of
this? You should purge mysql-server package and install again (don't
forget to run an apt-get update before).

** Package changed: ubuntu = mysql-dfsg-5.0 (Ubuntu)

we don't have time to deal with this right now (LP: #436200).
  * tools/eucalyptus-java-ws.in: Increase timeout here too, to go with
Matt's previous change.

eucalyptus (1.6~bzr854-0ubuntu4) karmic; urgency=low

  * Temporarily disable rejection of loopback addresses in registerComponent.
This seems perfectly valid when the cloud and cluster controllers are
running on the same system.

This works around LP: #434593 (which is a blocker for 9.10 beta) and

[Bug 412664] Re: very hard to firewall eucalyptus securely

2009-09-25 Thread Jamie Strandboge
I've not looked at this *at all*, but one thought is to have a
eucalyptus chain (or chains) that eucalyptus manages. It can add the
chain on boot, and then add rules to the chain. Then it can manage the
chain however it wants (even flush it). Once added, the chain is never
removed from the BUILTIN chain, so then its location can be depended on
across reboots and flushes, making firewalling outside of eucalyptus
easier.

[Bug 426830] Re: Add a check in eucalyptus-nc to verify that the target can run KVM

2009-09-25 Thread Dustin Kirkland
Etienne-

Hmm, this is a bit easier said than done.

We can't run kvm-ok directly, because the package that provides kvm-ok
may be being installed at that time. Note that there's another bug
where we're trying to get kvm-ok into the base system files and out of
qemu-kvm, Bug #429443.

However, kvm-ok's real meat is a very simple grep of /proc/cpuinfo.
That's certainly something that we can do.

I disagree with the concept of a dialog box, or anything interactive
that would hamper unattended installations.

But I can throw a warning message echo'd in the nc postinst, such that
the message is at least logged *somewhere*.

2009-09-25 Thread Neil Soman
It has to do with migrating snapshots created with version 1.5 to 1.6.
If you create a snapshot in 1.5 and upgrade to 1.6 (not clean install),
your old snapshots may not be available (in multi component/multi
cluster mode). There is a fix for the migration in the head, but part of
the process requires running a database import script offline. I have
left this open because we need to document the import path.

[Bug 424179] Re: Fails to upgrade to 1.6~bzr588-0ubuntu7

2009-09-25 Thread Dustin Kirkland
Loic-

Agreed, the config file handling needs some improvement. I'm still
trying to get a handle on that.

As for the JAVA_HOME bit, I'm going to assign this bug to Thierry for
now. Hopefully he can get a handle on where, or if at all, that is a
problem.

[Bug 418409] Re: package eucalyptus-cloud 1.6~bzr452-0ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2009-09-25 Thread Dustin Kirkland
I'm not familiar with this bit, and under what circumstances euca_conf
-setup has not been run but a user is trying to upgrade.

We need some information from the upstream Eucalyptus folks on this one.
Marking Incomplete for now, awaiting feedback for triaging.

I'll note that this isn't a generic problem, as I just successfully
upgraded to eucalyptus-cloud 1.6~bzr854-0ubuntu5.
